If you watched the video that was the year that Darnold showed promise.

So... I am kind of done with your business.

    Promise?

Yeah, like that 4-INT game vs Miami, including a Pick 6 with the score tied 13-13 to singlehandedly lose the game. I knew right then and there, the JETS knew right then and there "This is not the guy". Darnold was benched for Luke McCown after that disaster.

Darnold was trash as a rookie. The Jets hired Gase because trash deserves to be with other trash. Darnold and Gase are the perfect fit. They belong together.

How am I making excused for Sam Darnold.

Is it not possible that both he and Gase suck separately or suck when combined. I was only pointing out the fact that Gase has sucked the life out of two teams where he has been the HC. I just believe that it is hard to lay all that team dysfunction at the feet of a kid fresh out of college.

Huh? Darnold's coach as a rookie wasn't Gase.

Allen was a mess his rookie year.. Props to him, he bought into “The Process” and the rest is history.. Good coaching and a stable organization with GREAT OWNERS AND STAFF BENEFITTED HIM!

I want to point out that I was flogged and beaten and slandered for having Allen as my #2 overall prospect in 2018 behind only Baker Mayfield. Get off me. I was his biggest fan on this board since 3 years ago. Lay off me. Many of you people just go with what’s hot at the moment and you miss out on the big picture. What you fail to realize is that the JETS organization is hot garbage and even if they DO draft Trevor Lawrence, HE WILL BE A BUST TOO.

Go back to the draft threads from three years ago. I loved Allen before 99.9% of you. If he went to the Jets it would be over for him.

Allen had 18 TDs to 12 INTs as a rookie with no OL and no WRs, and made game-changing plays with his legs. Hardly a "mess"

I think Gase does alright with established QBs, and most coaches would, but he is no QB whisperer.

Would you really want Gase to develop your shiny new rookie QB - honestly?

Flacco was a 1st round pick in 2008 and has been in the league for 12 years so I would not be in a rush to attribute any better play from an established veteran at the QB position to anything Gase is doing better. That, and although Flacco may be putting up better numbers, the Jets are still pumping out the losses each week.

It doesn't matter. Stop making excuses for Sam Darnold. Joe Flacco >>> Darnold under the SAME CONDITIONS.

End of discussion. Darnold isn't even better than Flacco in 2020.

Jets did no good for Darnold, no good at all. Coaching staff sucked, the players around him sucked. No OL, no WRs. Allen totally benefited from the culture AND the “Process” that McD established here. Give props to McD where it’s due. Give props to Beane, Daboll and the Pegula’s. Allen walked into the perfect landing spot.

    Wrong again.

Allen in 2018 inherited a worse OL and worse WRs than Darnold.

He just showed way more promise and ability than Darnold, which convinced his franchise that he was "the guy" where as Darnold was just atrocious.

Whether he is it isn't depends on who coaches him.  If Allen went to the Jets under Gase he might be traded or cut by now. And I would take Darnold to back up Allen if offered.

How do you know the Jets would have hired Adam Gase in 2019 if Josh Allen was the QB?

Remember, the Jets were running Jeremy Bates' offense in 2018. Darnold was atrocious, leading to a new Offensive Coaching staff.

There's no guarantee that the Jets would have ever hired Adam Gase to begin with, had Allen been the QB. Maybe they hire a different HC based on the fit with the QB.

Either way, Josh Allen would have found a way to be very successful with the Jets. He inherited a WORSE Offensive Cast than Darnold as a rookie. In 2018, The Bills had LESS, not more, offensive talent around the QB than the Jets did.

I agree with him about coaching and FO personnel decisions.

Gase is in Miami, Miami is a hot mess. They shake things up, Gase leaves, Brian Flores comes in and within two seasons their new coach and organization has the team playing competitive football.

Gase comes to NJ and their Jets and within the same span of time has them playing the worst football in the league... so there is something to the argument about having the right supporting organization. Does anyone see Gase landing anywhere in the NFL after this last gig?

He needs to slink under some rock in the NCAA and hope that the stink wears off in a few decades.

Joe Flacco has been a better QB than Sam Darnold this season playing with the same team and same Coach.

Darnold would have been a better QB had he went to Buffalo but his ceiling would have been nowhere near what Allen’s is.. Allen would have been out of the league in 5 years had he went to the Jets.. Maybe Darnold would’ve been a fringe top 10 QB here.. maybe..

Allen would have been a stud had he went to the Jets; he would have been a stud literally anywhere he went. He would have had a much much better 2019 season than Darnold with Robby Anderson, Crowder, and Lev Bell. Which would have prompted the Jets to resign Robby Anderson. Main reason Jets didn't resign Robby was because Darnold was beyond atrocious when targeting him.

Josh Allen would be throwing TD bombs to Robby Anderson in 2020, on the Jets.

I have heard this as well.  Heard about the hoodie hates the Jets and could stick it to the Jets and play the second stringers and throw the game so no Trevor for the Jets.  They said why would Bill want to play Josh A, Tua and Trevor as opposing QB's for 6 games when if they lose this last game to the Jets its then Allen x2, Tua x2 and maybe Fields x2 sounds a bit less scary as they try to rebuild that team

Tua is awful. He's not an NFL starting caliber QB. Just a college System QB. Dude will bust so hard.

Facing Tua 2x a year is phenomenal for the Bills, Pats, and Jets. I can promise you that Tua is NOT good.

    Exactly my point.

CMC produced gaudy numbers...and it did absolutely nothing to move the needle in terms of Wins/Losses. Why? Because the Running Back position matters less than the damn PUNTER.

Learn something about modern day football.

The Running Back has 0 impact on Winning.

Had a great game last night. Won a lot of one on one matchups.

Great arm length.  Good balance.  Doesn’t get overpowered much, strong dude.

Not sure how he does so well on pass blocking, but seems to get in the right place.  His feet look slow and aren’t smooth/fluid, kinda choppy. Can’t complain, has done a nice job.

Slow feet doesn't really matter when you're Short-Setting with 35" arms at 6'5" 335 pounds. He blocks out the sun with his length and massive frame. Plus, EDGE defenders are taught to contain Allen in the pocket versus rushing up the field. He doesn't face speed rushes too often because that EDGE has to contain and stay in front of Allen.

No. They win when he’s out for a number of different reasons. They are a much better team when he’s playing as would any team be if they had one of the top offensive players in the league.

    Running Backs Do Not Matter.

    Welcome to 2020 NFL Football.

How no one really not mention Aaron Donald?  If you have him and Oliver rushing from the inside, we hold the Chiefs to under 25.

If the Bills had Darren Waller at TE, along with JB's return, they'd score a TD on almost every offensive possession.

In today's NFL, good Offense beats good Defense.

Aaron Donald is better than Darren Waller in a vacuum, but Waller's upgrade over Dawson Knox, which is significant, makes Waller the most logical pick here.

  12. Phenomenal Pass Blocker.

6'5", 335 pounds, 35" Arms. Mass, girth, length. The Power Rush never works on him. Can't go through him, have to try and get around him, which takes too much time and opens up throwing lanes. Gettleman has a great eye for OL talent, stealing him in the 4th round.

This dude must be resigned. Allen excels at moving to his right and this guy consistently provides Allen with lots of space on that right side with his ability to set the Width of the Pocket.

Daryl Williams is the Bills Right Tackle of the future. Pure stud.

    Pay that man!!

I'm too conservative to be a modern day coach... The key is early in games.  If my team scratches and claws it's way down to the 7 yards line, and it's 4th and 2 with 10 minutes to go in the FIRST Qtr, I kick the chip shot FG.  Just take the points.  All these NFL games seem to come down to 3-6 point margins.   So many clubs this year are blowing off the easy 3 and getting nothing.

I would start going for 4th downs, if necessary, in the 2nd half when my team is down and the situation (momentum) is critical.

Thankfully McDermott has made the right decision more often than not recently.

Recently? Against 49ers, 4th and Goal at the 1 on the 1st drive, he went for it.

  14. Love the 5-man OL configuration they used in the 49ers game

    LT Dion Dawkins

    LG Ike Boettger

    C Mitch Morse

    RG Jon Feliciano

    RT Daryl Williams

Big massive long wide-body Guards and Tackles. This is the best possible Pass Blocking unit the Bills have. Beautiful pockets created by these guys. Everybody is a better Pass blocker than Run blocker. I was very impressed with the UDFA 6'6" LG Boettger rewatching the tape; he's a keeper. They finally got liability RG Brian Winters out of the lineup. If they stick with this OL the rest of the way, Allen will dominate.

  15. Carson Wentz inherited the Best Offensive Line in Football.

    LT - Jason Peters

    LG - Stephen Wisniewski

    C - Jason Kelce

    RG - Brandon Brooks

    RT - Lane Johnson

In Year 2017, his supposed "MVP" year (we now realize that was a joke, Wentz was NEVER an MVP caliber player, ever):

The LT, C, RG, and RT were ALL playing at an All-Pro level. The worst member of his OL, the LG, was playing at a near Pro Bowl level.

    Let me repeat:

    5 O-Linemen in 2017: 4 All-Pro performers, 1 borderline Pro Bowl performer

That is why Nick Foles outplayed Wentz and led his team to a SB - the Eagles dominating Offensive Line. It had NOTHING whatsoever to do with Carson Wentz.

Carson Wentz has not "regressed". He was NEVER GOOD TO BEGIN WITH. The Eagles O-Line, weapons, and scheme MADE him look good. But Wentz himself has never been a good QB. Bottom line.

Interesting idea about Baker and the Jets ending up with Darnold.. and further no longer wanting Darnold. I could totally see this as true.

But Gase taking the fall? For what reason? His entire existence in the NFL post Payton has made zero sense. Somehow the Jets got into trouble with the wrong people and ended up paying this nut insane money, and I can't put my finger as to why.. I see Gase just adding to his baffoonery by saying stuff like this.

For the reason that Darnold is an extremely nice and likeable guy, (but an abomination of a QB.)

The media is scapegoating Gase to protect Darnold.
