  1. Watching the playoffs it always becomes so clear..its all about the lines. Look how Pittsburgh committed to the lines when they allowed talented WR Plexico Burress to walk and then replaced him with free agent Guard Hardings. That s committment and we must do similar. The priority should be Center Bentley(Saints) & OT Backus (Lions) as well as allowing Ted Washington to return. If signing those free agents requires the purging of Moulds/Milloy/Clements....then so be it (they are not andre reed. thurman & Bruce). Anything short of that is a 'fools gold' in thinking that skill players away from the ball are more vital than big players close to the ball. (thats Tom Donaho ball!) Also we have acceptable depth behind each of these 3 players (even before the draft). A backfield of Macgee, Greer, Thomas & King is acceptable with no rookies. Baker could fill for Milloy (Gray's scheme required a true physical strong safety,,,but other schemes desired a more covering type of SS...wade played this). Juaron could make that adjustment. A starting WR duo of Lee Evans & Roscoe Parrish would be fine if they played on a team that could run the ball and give their QB extra time to throw. Lets see if Tom Modrak 'gets it' and makes some type of purge like this of replacing skill players with big grunts along the lines. Picks #1 & 2 should also be on defensive line and offensive line. (Nagata or Mario Williams & best guard available)
  2. Please tell me this research I must do to see the GREAT contributions of wilson??? emlighten us....i've enlightened above at some of the major disasters he has done to our own hopes.......someone tell ralph there is no salary cap on coaches,,,and also share with him that your 87 yrs old and you cannot take it with you !!!!
  3. You are right,,,its not a bad situation - people can see more clearly why Ralph should have done a CLEAN SWEEP instead of this cheap BS of firing coordinators etc etbut keeping HC on... How does this guy make $$ in his other businesses?
  4. Mularkey resigning is simly reacting to a terrible situation that cheap SOB created. How would ANYONE (especially one in the business for 47 years) not realize the impossible situation Wilson put Mularkey in - could he have put Mularkey on any thinner ice? Fires his 2 coordinators...and also has a repuation for not paying coaches....and obviously only kept Mularkey on because he did not wish to pay !!!!! And amazing this was ralphs bold 'last move' to do things right before he passes on.....incredible.... And people think he desrved to be in the HOF??? Why? for letting tom cousineau sing with CFL? jim kelly and joe cribbs to the CFL? Ahmad Rashad for $15k??? Or maybe it was for firing the 2 best scouting/GM organizations in football?? I'm glad to see Mularkey go...we need a better HC....but that does not excuse the fact that he should have simply been released in a clean sweep
  5. YOU must be kidding?? THE MOST money hungry sport/group is NCAA college football with their BCS System....its is their greed to keep all TV money which prevents any type of football playoff system. Please palce the greed where it is,,,NCAA college presidents
  6. Kellen Winslow played on pass happy Sandiego....Eric Green was a great TE for the power running steelers who wanted a blocker. The post reads IF YOU WANT POWER RUNNING,,,,then move Peters to TE as great blocking TE (something Kyle Brady and other 270lbers were not) with some receiving ability (as good as our current TE group)
  7. So yu think Schobel is worthy of building an entire defense around??? Thats ridiculous.....besides Schobel would still get many opportunities to do what he does best and that is to rush the passer on passing downs...our problem this year is not stopping the run and getting nto passing downs.... Also...schobel is far from our best defensive player now on 1st & 2nd runing downs....he's very good on 3rd downs and that would stay the same In your 4-3...we would be forced to sit one of our 4LB's and allow a Bannon or a Tim anderson to play instead... Our strength is our LB's...we can even add to theat greatly with an immediate rookie LB if we choose.....we should play the 3-4 which hilites LB play We only switched to a 4-3 under Gray & Gregg Williams because they had such little NFL experience that it was the only defense they knew how to coach So our defense was built around our coach's inability rather than the personneel in front of him
  8. And what is this based upon (his inability to get separation)??? Also,,Mark Campbell and our other TE's are showing great separation?? I was at the first minicamp Peters was at and saw his speed split the seam ...it was amazing to see for suh a big man. Peters would give us the same receiving stats Campbell does,,,but would also provide us with a far better blocker on the field that would help a weak offensive line. Villarial Mike Williams & Peters had top potential for a power running game scheme...
  9. Where the staff is a joke is the following...they claim to wish to play POWER football...they have a 300lb top blocking TE fall in their lap and they decide to waste that unusual situation (which would be perfect for power football) and try him at OT.... By the way,,,,Bills offense went GAMES without any throws to our TE's.,,,,so why not put a top blocking TE on the field for a tam that was begging for blocking ???
  10. We have draft picks and $20million in free agent money to acquire a 2-gap tackle and size upfront....Sam Adams & Ron Edwards are both 320+lb DT's There's a reason why the top Def coordinators like Belichek and Wade Phillips always play a 3-4.....its too difficult generating passrush out of front 4.... Finding bigger run stopping DL are far easier (and less expensive) to find than are defensive lineman who can also passrush We currently have signed thru next year 4 quality LB's on the roster as is...Posey would blossom being put back into the same 3-4 scheme Capers had him play at Houston where he had 8 sacks 3 yrs ago Also this is a very deep LB draft...very deep and talented if u wished to add 1 special LB
  11. Newsflash I was replying to the comment that Peters does not have the speed to play TE...he current;y has better speed than starter Campbell.... Do TE's run 25 patterns a game? Many teams keep TE's in on some passing plays...also Pittsburgh throws the ball 19/game...thats a power running scheme... thirdly he played his entire college career playing TE but suddenly could not physically run TE routes without being winded....
  12. Gee our 4-3 we currently play is so great we could not make the switch.... exactly how hard would it be to sign ryan denney ??? Also where is this great 4-3 talent ?? 4-3 requires pass rush from the front 4....where are you seeing this?? 3-4 generates passrush from linebackers and scheme...we would have that with our LB corp...
  13. Peters would beat Campbell in a 50 yard sprint...its his unusual speed that allows him to play special teams. There;s a reason why he;s is the only guy over 260lbs covers kicks in the league....
  14. TD & Mularkey always talked power running game...yet they draft a finesse TE like Euhlus and when they had an opportunity to have an Eric Green Clone in Peters....a top great blocking TE with huge size that could also get down the seam....they instead try switching him to be an average RT. Drafting a LT and moving Gandy to RT and placing Peters at TE would help this team's blocking and power statement, Peters could be a GREAT TE creating mismatches...at best he becomes an average RT
  15. WE have $20million in cap + draft picks to acquire a 2-gap tackle Dom Capers...unlike Jerry Gray would find a way to utilize a DT like Sam Adams Ryan Denney is actually a quality 3-4 DE since he stops run and is tall but is not a good passrusher...Schobel & Kelsay may see more pass situation duty We do have 4 quality LB's (Posey is a 3-4OLB that TD acquired never considering he might not fit a 4-3 scheme). Polian alwaya said its PLAYER + SYSTEM....TD never understood this, Remember TD moved uo ahead in RD2 to draft Denney before Steelers did,,,,Denney is a perfect DE for Pitt (they played a 3-4)....but is a moderate fit for a 4-3....TD was too blinded to stick it to steelers to realize the same player was a poor fit for our 4-3. Biggest reason for Capers...he's flat out an experience top notch Def coordinator far better than Jerry Gray who had one good run when we played an incredibly weak string of teams in 2004. TD should be shot for not tying up Dick Lebeau & Pat Willams...
  16. Could the contract extension of LB Crowell indicate the new GM is in house with Modrak?? Would Capers (to be fired in Houston) be a possible candidate for DC ?? and a move to 3-4 ?
  17. Much emphasis is put on JP getting playing time....but I'd also like to see both these safeties play ahead of the higher priced Milloy & Vincent to see what they can do and gain valuable experience
  18. Good points on free agents vs drafting...but also where TD fails incredibly is scouting/missing on the talent on his own team (where he has film and 1st hand experience). He told Ted Washington he was too fat for this league...Ted immediately went on to help Urlacher with the Bears and then was Key to Patriots superbowl defense.....then he does not understand how important Pat Williams was to this team...Williams was not that expensive and then goes to be NFC defensive player of the year candidate. The 'Package' of big Ted & Pat made us special...TD said bye bye to both and welcomed Sam Adams (so please don't claim $$ was key issue) and drafted tiny Tim Anderson....surprise surprise we now have the worst run defense in the league after having 9 years of steady/great run defense anchored by the efforts of Big Ted and Pat. TD is either incredibly poor talent evaluator....or far more likely...(as he did with Ross Tucker)...released talented players because they were locker room leaders or talked with local press...this was more important to TD than their play on the field......and for this we cannot fire TD fast enough
  19. Shaun Rogers was picked late 2nd round after we drafted Schobel & Henry...we then drfated Edwards in rd3 (after Rogers)
  20. Look at the differences here... Patriots Bills 1999 C Woody CB Winfield Butler pick 2000 OT Klemm DE Flowers (linebacker size) Butler pick 2001 DT Seymour CB Clements Donaho begins 2002 TE Graham OT Williams 2003 DT Ty Warren RB Mcgahee 2004 DT Wilfork WR Evans 2005 OT Mankins WR Parrish It speaks to priorities...a 'smash mouth physical' team (like Donahoe loves to say we) are does not draft like the above Lee Evans...a nice player...but we passed on DT Tommie Harris & DT Wilfork & OT Andrews In 2001 TD passed 3 times on DT Sean Rogers of Texas...instead chose a CB, a small defensive end (schobel)...and a smaller back (Henry) In 8 straight drafts the Patriots have drafted physical players along the line of scrimmage...its a constant WE did it twice...and one was Erik Flowers a 240lb Defensive end The game is won in the trenches...its that simple....we have too much money tied up in posiitons away from the ball like safteties and CB's and WR's...
  21. Anyone who thinks we should now pay Clements on top of Mcghee is out of their mind. TD is building a perfect LOSER with a Donut....all the money spent on psoitions away from the ball (safteies & corners...& Wr's) while ignoring where the game is won and lost OG, Center,DT's.... We see it does us ZEROOOOOOOOOOOOO to have Lee Evans and Moulds if the line cannot protect.......and its does us ZEROOOOOOOO to have Milloy & Vincent if they run the ball right down our throats !!! Dump a Milloy or Moulds or Vincent and bring in some linch bucket Guards & centers and Defensive tackles Its not much more complicated than that.....
  22. Lebeau was offered the Bills job...at what rate of PAY ???? I'm sure if he was compensated well enough he would have stayed...but ralph hs a salary cap on coaches...so we get stuck with 1st time coordinators like Jerry Gray & Tom Clements....surprise surprise we are often out coached !!
  23. Why do we even have TD as our GM ? because Ralph was paying Butler the 3rd lowest salary in the league...GM of a team that had gone to the playoffs 10 of 11 years....what is that crew doing now in SanDiego ? Why do we not have Marvin lewis? Ralph would not pay What is Marvin lewis doing now in Cinci ? What is Pitt doing since TD left and since Mularkey & Clements left? Who hired Mularkey rather than Charlie Weiss ? Look no futher than our owner for this entire situation....he's cheap..his being cheap cost us ahmad rashad, tom cousineau, chuck knox, joe cribbs and will wolford..... Ralph has his own 'salary cap' on his coaching and GM staff...well..he got what he paid for...
  24. Coahing is NOTTTTT over rated in todays NFL...in fact it is crcuial since the salary cap has insured fair distribution of talented players. The Patriots have won 3 Superbowls based on 1 thing...COACHING !!!!!!! We lost 4 superbowls based on 1 thing COACHING!! Marv Levy and his coordinators rode Secretariat and came in 2nd losing to Parcells !
  25. I'm a big JP fan...and actually liked the progress I was seeing....but there was too HUGE a disconnect between what any 1st year starter could do and what Tom Clements was asking him to do.... Clements did not protect JP...he blatantly exposed JP with his play calling...that is the fly in the ointment !!!...but also does not appear to be changing But deciding to go to Holcomb now is not a crazy decision...we were getting 75 yards/game out of the QB.....any objective observer would say make a change....either play calling or player Manning had 8 starts last year....JP this year already has 4...and likely gets close to 8 as well unless Holcomb puts us on a playoff run (and yes if we go 9-7 and make the playoffs and get beat 1st round..its worth it...because it gives 52 other players the experience of playing a playoff game..and even a backup qb can benefit from seeing how it all picks up)
