Last I checked we dont have Andy Reid as our head coach/offensive coordinator - we had Rick Dennison last year and a rookie OC this yr out of the Alabama ground.pound system, Andy Reid is so good and so long proven he can have captain kangaroo as his QB coach under him
-
Its absolutely ridiculous you keep comparing back to marrone. Marrone era was under Ralph Wilson who would not pay for top coaching staffs - this is a new era under Pegila where he will properly pay for the coaches requested ! - also under Marrone we were not grooming a QB we spent the 7th pick overall on plus gave up Cordy Glenn & two #2's to obtain .
-
And this by a group who knew from day 1 they were gonna gather up draft picks so to trade up to get a franchise QB to be the key to everyones future - and you surround the kid with this staff? Just seems so odd...
-
And keep in mind this WR coach was hired last year with Offensive Coordinator Dennison who was a flop - again what type of coaching was being received by our QBs last year?? Just mind boggling in this day and age to have such lackluster hiring
-
Exactly right !!! - Especially when you are Pegula willing to open the pocket book for the best QB coach you couild find. Instead of going into the college ranks for a creative Qb coach we use a WR coach from the NFL who will offer nothing new - it smacks of total focus on defense but blind to the offensive needs Are you kidding? Why didnt we just sign a 'well respected' linebacker coach who maybe coached QBs in 1984 (when college football was 3 yrds and a cloud of dust)

With so much invested in Josh Allen (7th pick overall and spending a few #2's to get there) why the following?? 1- We had no veteran QB dedicated to mentor - see Jets purposely signed 39yr old Josh Mccown for just that purpose to help their rookie. 2- We have a QB coach who has spent his entire NFL career as a Wide Receivers coach - WTF!!??? With all Pegulas money we dont surround Josh Allen with these critical teachers? How does this fit into the process? - It shows absolute zero respect for the QB position by just throw a WR coach at it Coach David CULLEY’S COACHING CAREER NFL Buffalo Bills 2017 – Quarterbacks coach Kansas City Chiefs 2013-16 Assistant Head Coach/Wide Receivers Coach Philadelphia Eagles 2011-12 Senior offensive assistant/wide receivers coach Philadelphia Eagles 1999-10 Wide receivers coach Pittsburgh Steelers 1996-98 Wide receivers coach Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1994-95 Wide receivers coach

Starting to wonder about Beane in this way - when coaches or GMs get their former players its usually a great sign since they are most aware of all they are getting - like when Wade pushed for Ted Washingtom when he first got here. Beane has signed Kelvin Benjamin and Star off of Carolina....neither is performing above expectation...we shoulda had a good book on both of them

The Bills should be buyers too given their 10 draft picks and extra cap room next year. Not a buyer for a 1 or2 year player but a guy like this at 29 yrs old will play at least 5 more years - only costs a 5th and we have cap to absorb it. I hope we checked into this and should be looking and taking advantage of other salary cap like dumps.

Prediction: Bills Will Use Cap Space as Trade Piece in 2019
jahbonas replied to HardyBoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All your wide receivers will improve as Josh Allen moves to his 2nd year and we improve the offensive line to givem WR more time to get open. As Bill Walsh always said - WR is the LAST position you fill when building a team -
10 Picks 2019 draft and 3rd highest available cap space.

We changed offensive coordinators/systems - that will ALWAYS set you back since players are fits for systems. Did Diebol ask for Kelvin Benjamin? Staying consistent with the systems/coaching and good things will happen and suddenly our draft picks and free agents will work out much better -
Do we know if Josh Allen is allowed to audible/change a play at the Line of scrimmage??

You have to consider the very different era. In the 1970s/80s the college game was more run with little developed passing game while the NFL was far more complex passing game. Rookies back then had to fight a steep learning cirve for the pro passing game. In today's game it has virtually flipped - colleges are passing all the time and many of their passing schemes are being copied by NFL offenses. Rookie QBs are playing a similar game that they came from in college. I'd expect more and more NFL ready QB's entering the NFL with impacts even as rookies. Kelly, Marino, Elway were so special in that rookies just didnt play back then as QBs

Who is Beane’s next trade chip?
jahbonas replied to GoodHands15's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its amazing people still talk about players traded and the value received back without including the salary of the player - its everything !! Marcel Darius returns far more than a 6th rd pick if he wasnt carrying such an enormous salary etcccc -
Why the hell didn't we address the OLINE?
jahbonas replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As an option to Allen - Teddy Bridgewater was there and could have decided to go Bridgewater & Peterman and then have a 1st & 2 2nds to add (2 OL & 1 LB) -

Its the price of trading up for Josh Allen. Traded away LT Gordy Glenn and then traded away 2 picks in rd2 that could provided OL help -
Khalil Mack holding out... in Buffalo

I saw what you meant regarding the cap - you were pretty clear - From a Cap Shady + Hughes = near 20 million and Macks salary likely near 20 million...... but that doesnt matter much at all. What does matter is Mack also would come with a $40+ million up front signing bonus - a team strapped for cash like the Raiders might like not having to pay that -

The 'affordability' is not the cap number/salary - its the up front guaranteed huge signing bonus ($40+ million) Mack would demand vs the bonus Shady & Hughes demand ($0) -

Re Arden Key - teams can always use more pass rushers - they could utilize a Jerry Hughes Re Marshawn Lynch - he is 32 and has run for 400 yrd and 800 yrds the last 2 years - Shady has been at 1200 yrds each of last 2 years - Shady can be used - teams often use 2 RBs Re Donald Penn - any salary reduction he gave is a drop in the ocean when Mack demands signing bonus of 40 million ballpark or higher -

I think you are exactly right - and maybe we could take advantage of his not so deep pockets. We remove him from a 22 million/year contract with 35 million up front and offer him 'star names' like Shady Mccoy & Jerry Hughes (who require no up front bonus etcc) for his entrance into Las Vegas. We replace 2 name veterans with a younger stud who could dominate here for 6 years, -

This would give Gruden a veteran pass rusher to cushion the loss of Mack. Also in Mcdermott/Beane's 5 year plan an older Hughes would be ok to move - similar could be said re Shady if that was needed in such a deal. Both are older vets not likely to be around for years 4 & 5 of the Plan - both carry significant cap. I might prefer a Hughes + Shady + 3rd for Khalil Mack -
Apparently was too much to expect WGR to synch up their play by play with the largest local cable provider - its still better listening to Murph/Kelso than Taskers useless blabber

[Vague Title] It continues... Josh Allen...

Football might be the worst sport for analytics which requires independent variables run in many test cases - its virtually impossible to measure/predict accurately without knowing the full system, talent on his side of the ball and talent on the other side of the ball. Analytics works great for a solo hitter playing 162 games....no so for a QB playing 10 college games
