  1. Sully thinks Thurman was the best player on the superbowl teams (better than bruce or Kelly or Bennet) and then thinks he was also the best player in football (better than barry sanders etcccc) at that time..... Ask Sully why did Bil Belichek play only 2 def lineman in the superbow basically giving Thurman what he wanted if Thomas was indeed the biggest fear of a def coordinator. Same thing happened in AFC championship game where Marty Schottz of KC played a dime defense the whole game....because he was scared to death of kelly lighting him up for 50pts...as was Belicheck..... Thurman gained 166yrds against KC...and all an idiot like Sully can see is that thurman "produced" in the game....totally not seeing where the respect was given....
  2. I agree - its almost as if they get too cute for themselves !! And seem afraid to package multiple eggs and go for 1 impact player. If I'm a Patriots fan I am pissed they they came away from this draft adding multiple support players - and Gronkowski is a definite health risk with back problems at a physical position
  3. I'm not so sure - Patriots love to keep sprinkling their roster with multiple 2nd and 3rd rounders....but this league often is about having a core of difference makers (Kelly, bruce, Thurman,Biscuit,Reed) and then surrounding them with a solid cast of supporters...... These top core players are often taken exclusively in top10 of the draft....why does a team a player away from the bowl not go up and get a major difference maker rather than sprinkle with supporters who will help down the road....???? The time is now - they continually draft as if the time is 2 yrs from now.... Their gun is loaded each year and I give them credit - but they are able to load each year because year after year they refuse to pull the trigger and package picks to get the single impact difference maker I am doing cartwheels they did not package up to get a CJ Spiller.....
  4. Exactly right its the nature of the position that 350lb guys are not gonna be 'high motor' high energy every play like a 235lb LB..... Look at the best NT of all time...Ted washington...concerns about his weight and work ethic....and he was drafted end of the 1st round.....but he was massively/naturally big.....sounds a lot like Cody whats most impressive about Cody....is with his size and weight he pushed 225lbs 44 times....he has top top strength....
  5. Is that so ?? Did you ever follow Ted Washingtons career???? He was drafted in 1st round by 49ers and considered a bust - then on to Denver where he was allowed to leave and only when he got to Buffalo did it all click for him. More than any other position NT become better in their 30s than in their 20s..... Kennedy was a big time talent with big time size coming out of penn St - we could be catching him at the right time like we did with Ted Washington
  6. And you say this with having seen him play how many games? Would you know him if he walked passed you?
  7. OJ's 1975 season was more impressive than what he did in 1973
  8. Please inform us all who bruce had up front to help 'make him' ???? If anything bruce produced in spite of not being placed in a 4 man front like Reggie White had the luxury of playing in
  9. You realize what OJ had on opening day of his 2003 season? QB was a rookie 3rd round draft pick starting 1st game ever TE Paul Seymour starting his 1st NFL game ever OG Joe D was starting his first game ever gee you think they might have put 8 in the box? He still rushed for 250yrds that day
  10. OJ Simpson - everyone else a distant 2nd. regarding Thurman thomas I can argue he's only the 4th best RB we ever had behind Cookie & OJ & Joe Cribbs Cribbs was 4 yrs and 4 probowls....returned punts and led the Bills in both receiving and rushing in 1983. Thurman had good fortune to come along as the RB in the no huddle....while Thurman was taken out of the game on 3rd downs his rookie year....joe Cribbs was running & receiving and returning punts to a start in the pro bowl his rookie year starting alongside earl campbell... In general I think the players from the Knox era are a bit overlooked when it comes to all time selections
  11. And at some point results do matter: 9 seasons as head coach - 8 of them below .500
  12. Simply put - Marv and his incompetent staff he assembled (nobody other than Marchibroda was plucked by other NFL teams telling you what the rest of the league felt)....... Marv rode the Secretariat that Polian provided him and came in 2nd !!!
  13. What a bunch of crap written by Allen Wilson - with ofcourse no inside information and assumes the very worst
  14. Coaching candidates often "pull" their name when they get word they likely will not be chosen. You think it a coincidence Brian Schottzy suddenly turns cold to our offer the same time Russ Grimm sets up an interview???? Much of the discussion is done with the agents behind the scene...Schottzy allowed to pull his name gracefully while the Bills go interview Grimm and hire him as the next Bills head coach....
  15. Its incredible people still think that good production at the QB position is simply solved by the QB himself. Its an argument a 6 yr old brings to the table Its offensive line play + protection schemes + play design scheme + QB execution......its not simply QB execution. And cannot be solved by QB execution alone....you think Big ben was great when they won the superbowl his rookie year?? He only threw the ball 16 times a game. They had a top defense + top line that won IN SPITE of Big Bens poor play his rookie year. Pittsburgh at that point had everything but Big Ben....then they got their young 1st round QB and were off and running to 2 superbowls....that should be our model !! JP Losman may have seen good success if put into the same comfy situation Big Ben was This year we complete the offensive line and get a quality off coordinator....and get any veteran QB that can help execute it all....following year get your 1st rd franchise QB....
  16. And this justifies everything? especially when these fools hide behind ratings of a sports station where there is NO competition.... The buzz is always created here because sports fans in Buffalo are always irritated (not entertained nor informed) by the situation......give them competition then tell me about your ratings....
  17. But I can at least expect the opinion to be INFORMED.....otherwise lets put a 4 yr old on their and have them voice their opinion.....afterall its just opinion....like it or not....
  18. At MINIMUM I expect him to watch the Bills game on Sunday that he will be talking about all week. The Atlanta game he had 2 other WGR buddies over and he bragged about not watching the Bills game but instead watched NFL redzone... Sorry...thats absolute BS...and is a disservice to Buffalo Bills fans who listen...and only listen because they are the only show in town
  19. Exactly what do you think we brought Buddy Nix in for a year ago??? He was the runner up for the GM job in Atlanta....you think he came in here to simply scout ????? Nix was brought in similar to when we brought in Wade late in Marvs tenure.....Nix came here with an eye on getting the GM job........ofcourse him coming here 10 months ago flies totally under the radar screen of Sully and any of these local yokals
  20. Sullivan conveniently forgets his Bills history..but he's not from here and it shows.... The Bills did hire from within (and from piss poor organization) when they hired BILL POLIAN The Bills did hire from within when they hired JOHN BUTLER If Butler had stayed and passed they likely would have hired from within again in AJ Smith The Bills hired from outside when they blundered and hired Tom Donahoe So please save the idiotic arguments about hiring from within or outside.....especially when Buddy Nix is for all intents and purposes an outside hire who happened to come on board 10 months early I suppose Sullivan would have been happier if Nix didnt come here 10 months earlier and help us with our draft..then he would have been an "outside" hire and all ok
  21. In replies to the post tho a guy corrected me and pointed out that Nix had sided with Shottenheimer (and against AJ Smith) and when Nix was close to etting the GM job in Atlanta in was strongly considere that Nix & Schottenheimer would come into atlanta as a package type deal.....maybe that happens here? or at least Marty is highly considered than even before?
  22. Oct 14 2009, 11:00 AM Post #1 Practice Squad Group: Members Posts: 237 Joined: 3-September 03 Member No.: 3,092 Could our changing of the guard for GM be right in house? Buddy Nix has tremendous football scouting experience and it was believed he resigned from San Diego with the intent of landing a GM psoition somewhere. He was a finalist for the Atlanta GM job. Would it make sense that this was a partial motivator for him returning to Buffalo ?? He could even work a split of GM duties with Brandon where he only had to focus on the football side of the house while Brandon worked the business side. The NFL is an old boys network and it is difficult for a 'non-football' guy to gather the key information a GM needs to have when he has few contacts and scouts and people in the league will 'freeze' him out from offering the key info needed. Buddy Nix on the other hand...is that key insider with 30 yrs of contacts we need. Let Brandon run the business and the cap... Dealing with reality...Ralph is cheap...Nix would not be expensive...and Nix is now inhouse where Ralph would have a better comfort level than with an outsider.
  23. In this instance Ralph did a great move - they put at GM a guy who has 30+ years as a scout Pro/presonnel man....exactly what we need to compliment the beancounters currently in place..... Nix is only an "insider" because we brought him in 10 months ago and helped guide our best draft in years//...
  24. And I suppose Nix pulled the trigger on each pick???.....Buffalo scouting was successful in 90's and successful in sandiego the last decade and he was a big part of it - and knows how they did business successfully.... great hire Buddy Nix
  25. Id say you are an idiot...and dont have a clue to the talents that a Buddy Nix brings to the table... Would it have been ok if we brought Nix in a year ago and named him GM of football operations from perhaps the best front office in football (sandiego) ??? because then he would have been an OUTSIDER????? but now he has been here 10 months and helped us to a very productive draft he is an INSIDER???? Nix has exactly what we need - 30+ years of experience on the scouting pro personnel side of the house
