  1. Maybe because Polian does not work for Pegula ?
  2. Marv rode Secretariat and came in 2nd - great job !!!
  3. Lou Saban won 2 championships - he has to answer to nobody
  4. And this would go with Marv as well. We hear our new staff talk about offense & defense & special teams have to be on the same page philisophically in order to win. Our Superbowl years had a top high octane scoring offense. Opposing teams like the Giants could only negate that by long controlled drives. Why in the world did we allow our defensive coordinator to play a bend but dont break defense given the offense we had? We were defending a against a long ball that was never going to be thrown. We were giving up short yardage/move the chain plays which is all the offenses ever wanted. It was incredible poor strategy and cost us at least the Giants Superbowl. To add insult to injury our defensive personnell of Bruce and Bennet and Leonard Smith were built for an attacking style. I loved Polian as much as anyone but allowing your team to operate so out of synch between offense and defense was a killer to us. In basketball terms - its like having a high powered UNLV runnin rebel type offense and then sitting back in a zone against a team that only wishes to milk the clock Both Marv & Polian should have to answer to the disconnect
  5. Agreed - hope they do adjust to the modern kicker abilities. I've always been surprised that the league has not at some point widened the playing field by a yard or two with the increase of size and speed of each player
  6. Not exactly since the Bills opponents would also be playing outside and you would see Bills oppnents with higher fumbles too
  7. It could be offset by having the team that gets the ball start on their own 10yard line.... also maybe not allowing FG attempts unless you reach 20 yrd line etccc
  8. The problem is the 2nd team (in this case greenbay) would have a huge advantage. Seattle drove down legit and using a 3 downs and punt philosophy to do so If greenbay (down by 7) got a kickoff on their own 20 they would attempt to drive 80yards but using 4 down philosophy... thats a huge advantage. If greenbay converted 3 4th down attempts to score a TD to tie - thats fair to seattle??? no way....
  9. Look closer at the salaries of superbowl winning qb's. Tom Brady and Wilson and big ben are fine at 2million/year operating a talented team. Up that salary towards 18million and remove 16 million in salary from the rest of the team and you get a qb with stats and no rings
  10. The not signing of Cousineau in 1979 is a major reason why Chuck Knox would be leaving Buffalo - there was no commitment. We went a year later to the brink in 1980 without any help from that #1 overall - Knox was a great great coach.
  11. We traded Jason Peters at $10million year and received Eric Wood for 5 years (near 2 million/yr) + a 4th + a 6th Each year we had eric wood + 8 million to spend on FA for LT jason peters....
  12. It could be argued that the Herschel Walker deal cost the Bills a superbowl or 2 - only such a lopsided trade allowed a team like dallas to stockpile talent like it did,
  13. Glennon stats Rookie season 2013 2013 13 games 60% pct 19TD 9 INT 2600yrds 83 passer rating (16 games pace = 21 TD 10 INT 3200yrds) 2014 6 games 57% pct 10TD 6 INT 1400yrds 83 passer rating (16 games pace = 27 TD 15INT 3600yrds)
  14. yes your very IMHO
  15. With lesser talent Rex held Pats to 17-16 loss and a 27-25 loss while Schwartz with the highest salaried defense in the NFL gave up 37 points to Brady with no punts - why does Rex need schwartz??
  16. Jets had drafted 2 Off lineman in rd1 (OT Dbrick Ferguson & OC from Ohio st) and then signed OG franeca and Damien Woody - creating a power running game behind rookie QB Sanchez and they went to AFC champ twice with this. The downfall of Jets was when OL got old and not replaced due to cap issues. Ryans jets also hurt badly by top DT going down with injury each season. I can see us targetting a stud like 49ers OG Iupati in free agency and drafting best power OL thats there in rd2 and then try running behind that. There is no QB out there to majically acquire - San Fran had same problem and solved it by drafting 2 OL in Rd 1 (just as the Jets had done to setup their success) and relied on power run I would expect similar approach
  17. Patriots offense made an adjustment at half and Schwartz had no response resulting in no punts and a blow out in our backyard before packed house
  18. Simply put - I gotta believe Tom Brady is not happy seeing Rex Ryan coaching our defensive personnel
  19. Last 2 losses this year by a total of 3 points but thats the same us us giving up 37. EVERYONE realizes Brady hates to play against Rex Ryan and his schemes - against Schwartz this year he did not punt once.
  20. A consideration has to be in order to stay in same 4-3 then you need to pay Jerry Hughes near $12 million - its possible an adjusted scheme could avoid that allowing the offense to sign a OG like Iupati and play power football
  21. And what were your thoughts when we lost Pettine and went to Schwartz? Lets all keep in mind that the Bills had the highest payroll on the defensive side of the ball in the NFL. One could argue that given that #4 not so incredibly impressive. Remind us please how many times we forced the Patriots to punt when we played them in Orchard Park giving up 37 points? In December Rex held that same Brady to 17 points in a narrow 17-16 loss
  22. Its also being reported Rex may be the first of a few round of 2nd interviews indicating it may not be as close/done deal as we normally would expect when you hear a guy is having a 2nd interview etcc. The key story is not whether we get rex or not - they key is that we can see Buffalo no longer will be choosing from a small subset of bottom list candidates, Coaches and GMs were never scared away from a Buffalo job due to weather or location - it was because there was an owner who would butt in, who would not pay top dollar to head coach nor to coordinators and not be so active in free agency operating cap to cap etccc Top coaches and GMs will now be attracted when they know Pegula can pay dan snyder type money and then get out of the way and let the football guys do their job - given all those positives its still not a guarantee we select the right guy
  23. I think its more likely Pegula would offer him a very healthy contract and would tell rex if you leave without signing its gone, Bills fans never been in this position before because we always low balled. People make too much about city of buffalo - the problem always was a meddling owner who was cheap and didnt allow head guy to pay his coordinators
  24. If the OC from sanfran comes in - may indicate we try to win like Rex did early - big defense and power running game - we may go after Sanfran OG Mike Iupati
  25. You may not like the hire but frankly thats not the point. The combination of Rex teaming up with OC guru Marc trestman could be the most sought after coaching staff available and Pegula could be on the brink of landing them - thats new regime - new results - the point was - dont compare Pegula hiring in 2015 to any of Bills hirings in the past 50 yrs
