  1. I'm glad he's on the market - it will push down the price (slightly) for all CBs, making it more plausible to bring back Greer. With McKelvin ready to replace McGee, I think we're in good shape to move forward.
  2. We could at least recoup the draft pick we gave up in the Rob Johnson trade if we signed him.
  3. LV is right - don't aggrandize us. General football fans don't notice a 7-9 team without a celebrity on it. And ESPN's not going to bother to trumpet breaking news about an arrest on our team. It's not a pattern, it's just one random dude on a random team doing some dumbass random sh--. Just some straight-reporting from Tim Graham. Don't expect this to be a big deal outside of Buffalo.
  4. Usually, there's always someone in a police department ready to leak any celebrity arrest. I'm not saying they'd care and give him a different deal, I'm saying they'd care and tell someone.
  5. Is it possible the cops who arrested him didn't know who he was?
  6. A visit, sure, but Smith ahs become PAINFUL to watch. Ugh. He was outgained by Robert Royal the past two seasons. Yeah, there were injuries, but an injured TE doesn't exactly inspire confidence either.
  7. I remember his birthday too, it's in Armed and Dangerous, which I read 15 times by the time I turned 8.
  8. I think a lot of collegiate mobile QBs are guys who grew up just being better athletes than anyone on the field. So they never learned the fundamentals, they just learned how to make plays. Which is great, until you start playing against pro-level guys instead of the SEC. Now, if they were willing to settle down and learn the pro game, they'd be fine - or even superstars. Look at notable mobile QBs like Steve Young, John Elway, or Donovan McNabb. The problem is, that you're Mr. All-World until you turn 22. Then you're a multi-millionaire given the choice of cracking down or taking the money and running. And you'll probably even get a second or third chance without working too hard, in case the first $20M ran out.
  9. I don't think we should get Plax anyway, but is he a greater risk for a New York State team than anyone else, what with his record?
  10. Don't freak out about flying because of this, it's still much safer than driving - if this was 50 people, that's like what, 20 car crashes? And this was the only even in 2.5 years, in that time, there have been about 100,000 people killed in car wrecks in the US.
  11. Eric King sighting
  12. Jerry Porter got released today from Jacksonville - he's down to his last chance, if we want to give it to him.
  13. Or? While we're at it, why not AND?
  14. Is the cap relevant? If we cut Kelsay and earn no cap savings, but pay $4M fewer dollars in salary, under our system, that's just as good, right? If we're under the cap, and going to be under the cap, and the budget is determined by total, single-season cash outlays, there's no cap magic anywhere.
  15. Mmmm...trading a starting, pro-bowl potential left tackle for a backup QB. I've been on this board enough to see that if we could trade Peters for a really solid special-teams gunner to replace Justin Jenkins, people would be happy.
  16. Which is why every year, millions of people work very, very hard to become Americans. Where are you going?
  17. 11 catches guys. I think best case scenario, Steve Johnson becomes everything Josh Reed was supposed to be.
  18. I'm willing to wait. We're not making a deep playoff run in 2009 as it is.
  19. In 1999, why were we running a 3-4 when we had Pat Williams and Ted Washington at tackle? I don't remember - were they alternating in the inside spot with Smith and Hansen playing end? Or were we giving different looks, either with one of them at end on running downs, or an occasional 4-3 base?
  20. With Dockery, it was at least a failure of talent evaluation and scouting, rather than an outright lack of knowledge about what the team needed. They DID need a great left guard. They PAID for a great left guard. They just ended up with an average one. Rather than say, the defensive end position, where we need a great left end, and decide to ignore that need. Or tight end. Or center.
  21. Nothing says "high quality sports" like injuries. Also, did you watch the AFC championship game? Remember Willis McGahee? He doesn't.
  22. Garcia's whole career is sort of as a Doug Flutie clone who had a bit of a better deep ball and four inches. But from Canada to a journeyman.
  23. The Cover-2 got an unnaturally good reputation from the Colts, where a conservative, wait-for-a-mistake defense was perfect. Peyton Manning was (almost) never going to make a mistake, so you just had to wait for the other guy to, and try not to give up touchdowns. Then with the Bears and the Bucs, you had the talent to take advantage of every single mistake. A missed block was a Warren Sapp sack, a an overthrow was a John Lynch pick. And in Minnesota, the other successful Cover-2 scheme, you have the best defensive line in the league providing enough smother to let the DBs really get some picks. The Bills chose a defensive system that required an excellent defensive line, landed a bust in John McCargo, and then gave up on the position in the draft. Chris Ellis, CJ Ah You, and Anthony Hargrove amount to the total Jauron investment in the DE position, and they combined for 0 snaps last season.
  24. Would the Bllls consider playing him across from Whitner? The rare dual-top-ten-from-the-same-year-safety-corps.
  25. Are they using the franchise tag on Suggs? I thought he was going to be a UFA.
