  1. Dick Jauron needs to beat Bill Belichick at least once before I believe there's any hope with him at the helm. Mangini did it. Herm did it. Al Groh did it. Sparano did it. Saban did it. Jim Bates did it. And even Dave Wannestedt did it. Give Gregg Williams one, too, and even Wade Phillips in 2000. Of AFC East head coaches since Belichick took over in New England, only Cam Cameron, Mike Mularkey, and Dick Jauron have never defeated the Great Belichick, which given enough tries, even some pretty marginal coaches can pull off. Dick's had six. If he makes it to 0-8 this year, I'm done.
  2. Are the Giants legit as the consensus NFC Super Bowl pick? I'm torn - I don't see anyone clearly better than them, but they don't really strike me as any kind of powerhouse, especially now down Spaguolo. QB is Eli, who has struggled so far without Burress and the team has yet to give him a replacement. RB still has Bradshaw and Jacobs, but it can't be better now than it was with the two of them plus Ward. WR is a mess. TE is iffy. If the Giants win the Super Bowl, it will be proof that all you need is a great offensive line, a great defensive line, and enough other players just to hold it all together.

  4. I was hoping it would be Aaron Brooks...I bet the UFL is calling his name!
  5. I hope this works out as such - Do the prices of luxury boxes go up proportionately for two more games? That would cost us. However, I'd guess merchandise stays the same.
  6. Yeah, but knowing Ravens fans, they'll complain more after a season-ending AFC championship loss in Pittsburgh than a 7-9 season. I'd take it, though.
  7. Yeah, this might be decent analysis, but the source isn't any more authoritative than a post on here. He's not an expert or anything.
  8. Hey, I don't defend the last two picks at all. They were bizarre choices. But as to bringing in truckloads of DTs - I don't really see why it's mutually exclusive. Bring in any player at any position that is plausible to make it past a workout, and keep addressing weaknesses. But really, at DT, I'd rather they brought in pro free agents: Dewayne Robertson, La'Roi Glover, John Thorton, or Hollis Thomas. At least make an effort!
  9. I hate hate hate the #2 spot this year. I'm hoping I don't come up with it. Peterson is number one, no doubt about it, and then...then I have no freaking idea. I am, however, glad that I'm heading into this year with Matt Forte in my keeper slot.
  10. I really don't care what position players who come into camp just hoping for a shot at the practice squad play.
  11. I should also say that I think Jordan vs. Bird was the best of the bunch.
  12. I'm really impressed they got away with "Felcher."
  13. The Bills have top notch players at WR1, WR2, and RB. They have large question marks at QB, TE, LT, LG, RG, and RT. They're decent at WR3 with Reed and I'm comfortable with Hangartener at C. Everyone else...well, it could work out, but it might not. I'm optimistic about Trent, Wood, and Butler being okay, I think Walker will be a pleasant surprise, and Levitre could well be okay. But that's optimism, not proven facts.
  14. The bottom line with this team is that the only veteran starter we added along the lines was Geoff Hangartener. Otherwise, improvement is going to come from developing youngsters (McCargo, Williams, Butler), or rookies (Maybin, Levitre, Wood). It could happen, it might not, but it's going to be a bright red question mark until we take the field in Foxboro.
  15. I wonder if rookies in general are more injury prone that veterans. Players in their 30s are probably more brittle, but guys unused to NFL level hits might be less able to take them/avoid them, and end up injured.
  16. Just give up. Reed is a valuable role-player, and deserves his roster spot on this team. End of story.
  17. That doesn't make sense, unless the scalpers are absorbing losses week in and week out. Scalpers only buy tickets if they think they can sell them for higher than the face value, and fans would rather pay face value at the box office. You can only scalp tickets to an event that would be sold out anyway. I'm sure there may be a few games here and there where the scalpers guess wrong and buy up an unpopular game, but I'm guessing it's very rare.
  18. Yeah, fair enough. And I think that given time, a Bills-Bengals rivalry could develop. It's be a great division.
  19. Are you a jackass 12 year old?
  20. Hear Hear! Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland belong together. It's the fourth team that's tricky. I think the Lions have to stay at home with the Bears, Vikes, and Pack...what about the Colts? They're really the next one in line on the map ,even if they play in a dome and don't seem as much like a Midwest team. quick and dirty AFC: East: Miami-NYJ-Pats-Ravens North: Buffalo-Pitts-Cleveland-Indy South: Cincy, Houston, Tennessee, Jacksonville West: As it was. Possibly swapping Cincy to the East and Miami to the South.
  21. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about that - the few times I've ended up with a valuable ticket and made some money, it's been great. But if there was some way to prevent scalpers from rounding up tickets the moment they went on sale (like, say, knocking down their profit motive), it seems like it would make games a lot more accessible.
  22. Whoa - how recently? Because I scalped a pair of concert tickets two weeks ago, though I guess that was technically in New Jersey. Can you still sell tickets at cost? Is Stubhub just effed?
  23. Does close count at all here? If the Bills get drilled 56-10 or 31-0 again (lord I hate to have to add 'again' to that sentence), are the Bills just going to get discouraged for the rest of the season? Would a shootout loss (37-34, say) be half as good as a win?
  24. They reserve a few more than just for the season tickets, right? Some for the visiting team to dole out, a few for the players, some "house seats" I'm sure they'd give to Jim Kelly if he called up Ralph as he was driving to the stadium an hour before kickoff, etc. I wonder how it all works.
  25. Maybe we should just shut down each week between midnight after a game and 10 am before one.
