  1. With Schonert, we weren't going to make the playoffs. So really, there was absolutely nothing to lose.
  2. I think the point isn't that the Skins shouldn't win if this goes to court - of course they'll win; she's in clear breach of contract. But you don't have to sue every case you might win; exercising your legal rights can still make you a douchbag. And it's unwise if you're in the business of getting people to believe that their personal happiness is tied up in the success of your company.
  3. Tennessee played 5 games. And Kerry Collins and Chris Johnson played.
  4. Sack, fumble Maybin. He's a real player, at least, in this fake game.
  5. Not like anyone is really watching anyway.
  6. Are you 13?
  7. Owens is a great WR for Edwards because he's not the guy who catches the 50 yard fly, he's the guy who hangs on to every 7 yard slant and racks up YACs. An Andre Reed type, if I may be so blasphemous. The question is if Edwards is even good enough to take advantage of that.
  8. Man, I'd be impressed if Russ Brandon hired TO mainly to rid himself of the dead weight that's currently running the show on the sidelines. Brandon's really the only non-player on the staff I have any confidence in. After this season, I'd like to see him promoted to team President, where he can keep his hands on the marketing side of things, and be the one responsible for hiring a GM.
  9. They're roughly equivalent in terms of TDs per INT, but JP threw more INTs per pass attempt. But we're not arguing about who to keep/start. JP is the standard of a bad QB. If Trent's only a little better, he still sucks.
  10. It's year 3. This is Trent's prove-it year. If he whiffs, there's no excuses left.
  11. Remember when we passed on him for Donte Whitner?
  12. Just announced on NBC's Sunday Night Football.
  13. If we happen to spend on a proven coach, I'd say Cowher - Shanahan - Holmgren -Billick - Schottenheimer - Gruden in that order. I don't think any of them are particularly likely, however. If we're getting a rookie HC, I'd be inclined towards Russ Grimm or Leslie Frazier.
  14. THe problem is this: If you fire Turk Schonert midseason, who do you replace him with? The rest of our offensive staff doesn't seem much better. Why did we hire him in the first place? He's broadly been a failure with young QBs. He saw terrible seasons from Craig Erickson and Trent Dilfer in Tampa before he got fired, even though Dilfer recovered somewhat. Then he came to Buffalo and botched Rob Johnson's young career. Carolina saw him work with Chris Weinke to the tune of 1-15, and then did a year with the Giants when Kerry Collins played the worst of his career. Aaron Brooks was worse than usual when he was in New Orleans. Finally, he's run JP Losman and then Trent Edwards into the ground. He's never coached a successful QB. Why do people keep hiring him?
  15. I really don't think it's worth pursuing another mediocre QB right now. It'll just give more excuses to keep spinning our wheels. I'm not saying that Croyle/Thigpen/Feeley are definitely going to be worse than Trent, I just don't think they're going to be what gets us into the playoffs.
  16. Good call on Leslie Frazier. A word of warning - he'll keep running a Tampa-2 defense. However, the dude runs it *well*. And job one of his in Buffalo, I have to believe, is restoring the d-line they have in Minnesota.
  17. I don't want to get a QB who might be arguably better than Trent Edwards, I want a star QB. There's no reason burning more picks for another placeholder.
  18. Yeah, it's not like they went on to anything bigger and better, other than that brief run by Collins for the Skins and the Doug FLutie dropkick.
  19. Yeah, I didn't say they were good.
  20. Just because our head coach is a gutless turd doesn't mean he wasn't right to at least give Lindell one run through the motions on the game - and apparently, our blocking schemes on the field goal unit need work.
  21. You're an optimist. And I mean, there's rightly no reason to give up before the regular season starts, but I don't know if it's possible for a healthy pre-season to be more discouraging than this monstrosity.
  22. The Bills defense isn't good, but they're not terrible, either. They play a frustrating bend-but-don't-break style, but they only gave up 10 points on the day. They forced a fumble and sacked Roethlisberger, only really giving it up on one drive. It's the offense that's jaw-droppingly awful - and imagine how much better the defense would be if they could spend a few minutes off the field.
  23. Jauron is unquestionably the worst coach in the league now, right? Who's competitive? Childress?
  24. Maybe they think the yardlines are in base 8.
  25. AVP's a guy who might work out pretty well someday, but he's not up to coaching up a young QB who needs to learn the ropes. Especially if the OC is a turd like Schonert or, previously, Fairchild. If we had a star OC who was really the QB specialist, I think AVP would be worthwhile. But we need someone on this staff who can coach a fugging QB.
