  1. The fact that no team has signed him, including the OT desperate Raiders and Packers probably means something - he's asking for too much money, or else the heart is there but the strength isn't. That said, it seems like a perfect fit here in Buffalo, and the fact that we continue to stand pat with Kirk Chambers and Jonathan Scott is mind-boggling. As far as I know, we've only worked out a safety this week. Evidently, injuries to that position are crucial.
  2. Through last week, Dick Jauron has a lifetime winning percentage of .423, 115th among the 151 coaches with more than 50 games coached. No active coach ranks beneath him in this category. Additionally, only two coaches have coached more games than he has with such a crummy record: Joe Kuharich and Norm Van Brocklin. Van Brocklin's career has a Hall of Fame QB may have gotten him some extra time, and Jauron will pass Kuharich in games coached at the bye week. The meaning of all this is that no coach as bad as Jauron has been given as many chances to fail for the past 35 years. This isn't to say that Dick Jauron is the worst coach in NFL history; there are plenty more who have worse winning percentages. It's just to say that the decision to keep Jauron may be the worst coaching choice since TO was born.
  3. Only as to whether or not the team should have already decided on Edwards.
  4. If you were Jauron, is the shame of sucking this bad worth $6M to you? That's the question he faces.
  5. I guess you can also add UFLers like Tim Rattay, Quinn Gray, and of course, Mr. Losman.
  6. Thinking about the future, I wanted to see if there were any reasonable veteran-QBs out there who could be trusted to run the show for a few years if we decided to replace Trent and bring on a rookie. These appear to be the best options to me, and, uh, they're not good: Tyler Thigpen, Derek Anderson, Rex Grossman, Chris Simms, Brody Croyle, David Carr, Daunte Culpepper, Tarvardis Jackson, Sage Rosenfels, AJ Feely, Byron Leftwich, and Seneca Wallace Is there anyone on that list you'd like to turn the keys over to should we give up on Trent Edwards? I'm not convinced. Is there anyone out there I missed? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_curre...FL_team_rosters for a list.
  7. I think our best shot is if Brandon gets 'promoted' to team President, and is therefore in charge of hiring a GM, but otherwise does not have a definite impact on football operations. He seems to be the only guy off-field who even has a prayer of being a decent mind.
  8. I wouldn't go that far. Jauron might resign after this season, and Ralph may hire some coordinator who turns out to be pretty good. Then a Brady injury next year leads to a 10-6 finish and a wild card berth.
  9. Yeah, NFL coaches sign guaranteed contracts. I'm sure there are some exceptions if you're fired for some kind of gross misconduct (maybe Tom Cable would be eligible) but not if you're fired for being a bad coach.
  10. Both players have 8 receptions and 1 TD on the season - will the Bills prove so inept this weekend as to allow Royal to pull ahead?
  11. For what it's worth, they probably would have been 1-11 regardless. They had crummy offensive coordiantors in the first place.
  12. I still can't believe that what our fan base wants from the starting QB is nothing more than a "better Kelly Holcomb."
  13. I'm all for bringing in an established vet, but I'm really not sure who's going to be available. The most notable free agents will be Jason Campbell and Kyle Orton, and I'm guessing Orton at least will be retained by his current club. Campbell isn't bad, but isn't great, either. At some point, you're going to have to roll the dice on a a first round QB, or else just hope you back into one (Someone lets Drew Brees become a free agent, your 6th round pick from Michigan breaks out). The question is how long you wait to put the other pieces in place before you pull the trigger.
  14. I don't know exactly how this works, but I think that every draft pick must be tendered an offer at the rookie minimum, so theoretically, the 49ers could never just refuse to let him into the NFL. I guess they could withdraw the tender, but then I think he'd just become a free agent.
  15. That was their last win in 2008. We don't play Denver this year.
  16. This appears to be typical Jauron time management.
  17. Ralph doesn't need the fans' assent to move the team.
  18. Aaron Maybin has fewer sacks and tackles than C.J. Ah You on the season.
  19. He's not a playmaker.
  20. We used to have a crummy complex offense. Now we have a crummy simple offense. It really doesn't matter to me.
  21. YOu know, if we're going to keep punting, we might as well just leave the field. Why risk injuries to those guys in white shirts who came to play a football game today.
  22. This is the best thing I'm going to say about this game: I really appreciate that the announcer is calling out the names of the guys making blocks on big plays. They're all Dolphins, but I like hearing the names of the guys making it happen.
  23. Note: Miami is missing their starting QB and their best defensive player. It's not like we're the only team in the league with injuries.
