  1. When he cast the first ballot in the 2012 Presidential election.
  2. No, that's Jerry. Levi is the prime minister of the United Kingdom. He's up for election so he's going to try football.
  3. No, that's Chris. Levi Brown was a 3rd line center for the Sabres during their cup run in '99.
  4. Some reports say Brett would be the first grandfather to play in the NFL, but that doesn't sound right. Maybe the first one to acknowledge his grandchild.
  5. If we decide to beef the lines early, he seems like a worthy flyer in the 4th-6th rounds.
  6. Yeah, three years, at $5M-6M per is a very reasonable contract for Haynesworth. But it's short, and there's no way you keep him longer that that on the deal. You also can't franchise him, since the contract makes him get cut. Still, Suh and McCoy are such top prospects that I can't imagine anyone deciding to go with Haynesworth instead, so as far as shaking up the draft, I think it's unlikely. Needless to say, if he won't play 3-4 in DC, he won't play it here.
  7. Named Levelland because its distinguishing feature is being unusually flat for a town in the middle of the plains?
  8. Seriously, that site wants us to watch an ad before finding out who each team picked?
  9. If Haynesworth is traded for a mid-round pick, does that qualify him as the single greatest free agent bust in NFL history?
  10. There's no good reason to have Clausen and Campbell, but it might be worth keeping Campbell around and still investing the 2nd round pick in Tebow IF they really decide he's got what it takes. Campbell is a reasonable 3-year option while we wait out Tebow's development. More than Edwards/
  11. Yeah - I guess a player has to be suited to the role above the neck, too.
  12. Bulger may be the recent NFL starting QB about whom we really can't say: "Well, he can't be worse than Trent Edwards"
  13. It's pretty likely that Campbell will be a UFA by 2011 - he'll likely sign his RFA tender, play out the year on the bench, then go seek his fortune. So it might set him up for minimal trade value, or we could just wait a year and see where we are.
  14. Steve Johnson's 12 catches in two seasons makes him the most popular man in town. I can't figure it out.
  15. Quick note: McNabb is four years older now than Bledsoe was when we acquired him. And the price was about the same (same-year 2nd vs. next-year 1st).
  16. So this zeroes out Clausen at #4. Is he a slam dunk to the Browns?
  17. I wonder what kind of money rookies would make if there was no draft. Say every year by March 1st, all interested college players could declare pro eligibility, and would become UFAs along with all the veterans with expiring contracts. What do you pay Sam Bradford in a free market? Well, a market as free as any where there's a salary cap and only 32 buyers.
  18. I'm not sure what you think "..." is for.
  19. This is one of the better posts that started "Now, hear me out:"
  20. DEs are hugely important in a 3-4 scheme. It's just that most of the time, even the good ones don't rack up sacks like ends do in a 4-3. Even Richard Seymour has just over half as many sacks (43) as Aaron Schobel (78). Bruce was a friggin' freak of nature. No 3-4 end in the league had more than 7 sacks last year. 34 ends are there to occupy blockers and stuff the run, while opening up holes for the linebackers to make plays. It's not glamorous, but it doesn't mean we should just throw some chumps into the starting roles.
  21. As far as this affects football, well, it's really not a big deal. It's stupid, but it's not the kind of thing that says "team-destroying screaming moron." Of course, there are other things about Shaun Rogers that say that, so this doesn't really move the ball forward for him there.
  22. If the second amendment protected your right to carry a loaded gun on an airplane, I've been wasting my time in those lines for years.
  23. It depends how you want to calculate it. If we're talking straight draft picks, Kelly and Losman are the only first round QBs the Bills have ever drafted. On the other hand, if you count the first we spent on Johnson and the first we spent on Bledsoe, it starts to ratchet up a bit.
  24. He'd be an OLB in our scheme now, right? Probably better than Maybin/Kelsay.
