  1. I like the standing Buffalo at the neck of the jersey. That's a good idea. One more to look at: http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk238/GWScherer/?action=view&current=013010new.jpg I like the helmet design; I think we do know that it's going to have a charging Buffalo, though.
  2. That's how I'd understand it. Williams shoots between the tackle and the guard, Merriman runs to the outside of the tackle. The way I understand any of this is mostly from this truly excellent article: http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2011/1/11/1927873/examining-multiple-defensive-fronts-featuring-kyle-williams
  3. But here are some possibilities that fit what we know so far: 1.) http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk238/GWScherer/?action=view&current=33310new.jpg 2.) http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk238/GWScherer/?action=view&current=122809DbJWH09.jpg 3.) http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk238/GWScherer/?action=view&current=BillsDBjerseyuni1209.jpg 4.) http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk238/GWScherer/?action=view&current=5.jpg 5.) http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk238/GWScherer/?action=view&current=2.jpg 6.) http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk238/GWScherer/?action=view&current=Uniforms5and6copy.jpg I'd say the first one is the best. Of course, we could end up with something completely different.
  4. I'm guessing we'll get lighter blue jerseys with some combination of nickel, red, and navy on the stripes on the sleeves. Blue-on-blue might be weird, I'm not sure.
  5. Williams is a powerful, disruptive lineman. He's going to fit best in a one-gap role, which isn't a traditional NT in a 3-4 front, but depending on how you use the DEs and ILBs, it's not impossible. I think a one-gap end (3-tech, I believe) is going to be the strongest position to maximize his skills, but that would require a 0-tech NT next to him. Troup could be the guy: rookies aren't great at manning DL spots, given how much strength you gain in your first few years in an NFL program. We'll see how Troup does this year. Carrington, outside, can play the 5-tech if he also surges forward this year. He has shown flashes. Edwards woud be best spelling Williams in this, but we're otherwise very light on depth in a 3-4 front. Dareus as a starting 5-technique would be enormous for this line, letting Carrington drop down to a supporting role, and only forcing us to rely on a developing Troup to secure the front line.
  6. Yeah, let's not overplay how awesome Coy Wire is. I think he's a solid roleplayer, and I'd be thrilled if we still had him in a backup/special teams role. But he has 5 starts in three years since leaving Buffalo, including no sacks, no interceptions, etc. He's not why we suck. But the Bills in general seem loath to keep aging players who are still valuable contributors, clearing them out for a fresh new bunch every year.
  7. If not for the fact that buying a jersey is a sure way to curse a player, Kyle Williams all the way.
  8. Coy Wire started out far, far better than Aaron Maybin. As a rookie safety, Wire registered 3 sacks and 96 tackles; I'm not sure Maybin even has been in on 96 snaps so far, in two years.
  9. My hunch is that they're going to be fairly close to this. They won't be as futuristic and complicated as these designs, I'd guess, and the numbers won't be in that font, but I think that's going to be the color scheme, including the helmet. Just a hunch.
  10. A late-round/UDFA power back/special teamer wouldn't be bad for this team at all, but it'd be painful to see a higher pick get burned here.
  11. Day-after-the-Super Bowl chili is the best. That stuff tastes so good after mellowing overnight in the fridge, I started making mine on Saturday this year.
  12. McCarthy was hired, as I remember, because Favre liked him. It was otherwise a widely-questioned move at the time, and credit is due to Ted Thompson for selling a great coach to Brett F. Or he got lucky with the coach and was a hell of a drafter.
  13. I wouldn't be pissed that we passed on Bulaga if not for the fact that this board was overwhelmingly on board with a Bulaga pick. GMs can't be faulted for missing the Tom Bradys of the world in the 6th round. But they flatly MUST do better than some guys on the internet.
  14. If the Bills are to move forward from their current slump, I want no part of it to be compromised by replacement players. That's crap. And a top-5 pick isn't worth an entire season of lost football. Lock Smith and Goodell in a room when the final gun sounds tonight, and don't let them out until they have a deal. And don't feed them until they have a deal. Or anything else. Let's hope that they come to an agreement by the end of the month, and the offseason can proceed like nobody every said the word "lockout"
  15. Once Reed gets in, I will be very satisfied with the 90 Bills' representation in the Hall of Fame. I think there's a case to be made for Kent Hull, but otherwise, I'm not convinced anyone else really deserves it. Steve Tasker would be awesome, but I see why he's out. Otherwise, I'm not so sure. Bennett? Wolford? Ballard? Nothing obvious there.
  16. That's sad. Is there anyone else who has been to every Super Bowl? Media/league people, maybe?
  17. I'm really glad the Onion is doing more sports coverage. They're aces at it. My favorite remains this one.
  18. I think I'd go Bruce-Thurman-Kelly-Reed-Marv. Levy was a very good coach, but he was never masterful in the way the other guys were.
  19. There's this huge space between "top tier" and "bottom tier," filled with a lot of upgrades for our basically low-talent team. Even if we could get Langston Walker, the right tackle back again (instead of the disaster known as Langston Walker, left tacke, it would have been a solid improvement.
  20. Tyson Clabo would be huge.
  21. If current rates hold up, the estate tax is not going to clobber the next owner. It's at 35% with a $5M exclusion, but assuming that the exclusion is tied up in Ralph's other property, it means that the heir only needs to sell 35% of the team to pay the taxes. So say Ralph decides that Kelly should own the team, and it's left to him in the will (unlikely, but I don't know who else is Ralph's heir now, since his daughter passed.) Jim sells 35% to pay the taxes, and 14% to send $100M back to Ralph's other heirs (or whatever). He's the majority owner now, and the taxes are paid. That's not too bad.
  22. Are there any more Bills likely to get in the hall since? Terrell Owens?
  23. The fair catch kick is an odd and bizarre little rule, but the last coach to attempt one was...Mike McCarthy. It could happen!
  24. Aaron Maybin is the new reason why every draft pick we make will be wrong. He inherits this role from Mike Williams.
  25. Please report to 280 Park Avenue for reeducation.
