  1. Running for office sucks. The asses you have to kiss and the sucking up you have to do for money just makes it miserable, plus you owe a favor to everyone in town, and really trash your family life for a good chunk of time. If it's Congress, that's every two years. Jimbo would be much happier sticking around town, and generally being the King of Buffalo. And, if he feels political start giving speeches for other candidates after they suck up to /him/
  2. It's true. It's been long established that the team with the best holder, punter, 3rd down back, tackle-eligible, and long-snapper wins the Super Bowl two years out of three. We've got Moorman, we've got Peters, time to close the gaps.
  3. Amazing what a little formatting can do to verify a rumor
  4. I'd vote for Tiki Barber, but I can't argue with this one.
  5. THe best reason, I think, to keep Mularkey is that there really isn't an abundance of coaching talent out there this offseason. JIm Fassel, Haslett...this is scraping pretty low. Wade Phillips is considered a hot prospect, and ex-bust Gregg Williams was the holy grail. Next year, you can get a little more seasoning into some of the outer coaching prospects, and not have to deal with such a mad rush for a few guys.
  6. Bennett was a top-tier pick, but so was Drew Bledsoe. You get'em how you get'em. As for that corps: Talley: #39 Reed: #86 Wolfford: #20 Odomes: #29 (2nd round, in those days) Ballard: #283 (!) Conlan and Bruce were top #10 picks, but you also have Ronnie Harmon and Tony Hunter stuffed up there. You've gotta scout, scout, scout and then get a little lucky. That's where we've been blowing it.
  7. Bruce Smith was a #1 overall pick, but the rest weren't the kind of guys you had to take a dive to get the pick for: Kelly was a #14 pick, the kind of position we'll end up in even if we win next week Thomas was the #40 pick, and Bennett was traded for.
  8. MW is inactive - is he hurt, or is this just a wholesale benching?
  9. Then there's the Patriots, of course, who have cut/let go most of their key leadership: Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law, and Troy Brown is back only after he couldn't sell his services elsewhere.
  10. Well, Miami and Tampa seem pretty set, so it's just down to Jacksonville, who actually could probably use Willis. Considering we gave them Taylor for RoJo, it seems like they're in line.
  11. I'd shake up those tiers a little bit. There needs to be an "Elite" section for Manning, McNabb, and Vick with a possible ? for Carson Palmer. Bledsoe is on his third team, that knocks him down to Journeyman status. Ditto Kerry Collins. Carr is as much of a bust as Harrington, but I think there may still be hope for Patrick Ramsey on his next team.
  12. I bet that guy gets tons of P----
  13. Oh, for the #4 overall's of the nineties again. I don't know how this happened: 2005: Cedric Benson 2004: Philip Rivers 2003: Dewayne Robertson 2002: Big Mike 2001: Justin Smith 2000: Peter Warrick 1999: Edgerrin James 1998: Charles Woodson 1997: Peter Boulware 1996: Jonathan Ogden Four straight superstars (Boulware, in his day) and then the well went dry. Best of the 2000-2005 group in Justin Smith, and he's basically Aaron Schobel.
  14. Travis Henry: 31 carries, 97 yards/3 catches 20 yards Doug Jolley: 7 receptions, 79 yards ---- Shaud Williams: 18 carries, 80 yards/7 catches 36 yards Mark Campbell: 8 receptions, 67 yards Logically, I think that if we package Shaud and Campbell, we should be able to get a #1 and a #3 next year. Get 'er done!
  15. Not to be a late-eighties video game nerd, but anyone remember Garland from Final Fantasy 1?
  16. The only bad thing a member of the Buffalo Bills can do after a touchdown is miss the extra point.
  17. Isn't McGee a RFA this year?
  18. What about Tyson Thompson in Dallas? He looks to start this week - and if you get points for receptions, Chris Perry in Cincy is a good start (i'm debating between those two now)
  19. That extension seems like a bad move to me. Shockey is a good tight end, but not dominant and not worth that $6M - we'd be whining about that every season of the deal.
  20. By the way - what's TSHKIIIP?
  21. Stats in this case can be misleading for any number of reasons (mostly situational). Different teams have little in common with how often they should run. The truth is that our running game can be successful, even when the opponents stick eight in the box, and we're not running in those situations. Watch the games! How often do you say "Run the ball!" How often do they?

  23. I think we can win relying a bit more on J.P. Dumont that is. He's going to net 30 for us this year.
  24. As far as Willis goes, it's tough to dominate a game when you only get sixteen touches. He made everything he could out of them. What would happen if we ran Willis every play next week, only pausing run Shaud or Gates if he needs a break?
