There is a positive to a possible Bills move.
silvermike replied to LevysEraII's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, there at least appears to be a mild curse over teams that have moved. Of 40 Super Bowl champions, the following won in cities they weren't founded in: 2000: Baltimore Ravens 1999: St. Louis Rams 1982, '87, '91: Washington Redskins 1983: Los Angeles Raiders. Now, from there, you can say that the Rams and Raiders cancel each other out, the Baltimore Ravens are actually an expansion team (the Cleveland Browns, according to the arcane legal fiction of the NFL, merely ceased operations while all their players were given to some expansion team in Baltimore) and the Redskins left Boston in 1937 and thus had few surviving fans to see the championship. So, it works out for most cities, I suppose. -

Am I the only on that thinks...
silvermike replied to envirojeff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought it was just that they liked their chances better the first weekend in January over the first weekend in September. I think that's pretty suspect, myself, but there it is. -
Note this: From Late November on, we have Tennessee, Jacksonville, Miami, and San Diego at home. When Old Man Winter completes the Golden Boys Trilogy, the tide will turn.

All right, I'll bite: QB: Losman, Holcomb, Matthews vs. Losman, Holcomb Nall Verdict + RB: unchanged WR: Evans, Moulds, Reed, Parrish vs Evans, David, Reed, Parrish Verdict - TE: Campbell, Euhus vs. Everett, Royal, Euhus Verdict + OL: Gandy, Anderson, Teague, Villarreal, Williams vs. Gandy, Preston, Fowler, Villarreal, Peters. Verdict + DL: Shobel, Adams, Anderson, Kelsay vs. Schobel, Tripplett, Anderson, Kelsay Verdict = LB: Posey, Fletcher, Haggan vs. Posey, Fletcher, Spikes + CB: Clements, McGee vs. Clements, McGee Verdict + (experience) S: Milloy, Vincent vs. Bowens, Vincent Verdict - K/P = So, on the whole, looks like a wash. Until you get to better coaching, and the fact that we haven't drafted yet. We're also in much better salary cap position.

With Moulds leaving the Bills will
silvermike replied to 5 Wide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, you could guarantee him his 2006 season salary at $10 million, or make it a week-1 roster bonus and make it function roughly the same. This wouldn't be a bad year to pay the salary cap down a little bit - try to get future salaries up into this year, etc, and get a big cushion for 2007. -
With the best wideout tandem in the league.....
silvermike replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's see here: Evans-Moulds could have been up there, really. But current tandems, you can't beat Harrison-Wayne, IMHO. Moss-Porter on raw potential. Moss-Randeel-Givens on speed. Williams-Williams on draft position. And Holt-Bruce, as mentioned before. What about Smith-Keyshawn? -
the going rate for a good receiver drafted in 1996
silvermike replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are a couple rings there: Glenn was on the Patriots in 2001, although he got scratched for most of the season (I forget the details). Keyshawn won one with the Bucs, too, by actually having a good season. -
A little Marv/Ralph bashing by Foxsports.com
silvermike replied to Stevie Ray's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, he also rips into Belichick/Pioli for letting Vinatieri go. If this guy's actually smarter than the team that won 3 of the last 5 super bowls, then I'll be worried. But at this point... -
Biils should've traded for Ramsey
silvermike replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It comes down to this, Ramsey or Nall and a 6th. -
Moulds given permission to seek trade
silvermike replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, let's see what we've got: AE: Nothing, we're not trading in the division AN: Nothing: Pittsburgh is all set, Cleveland made the moves, Baltimore has Mason and a young Clayton, and Cincy has #85 and Housh. AS: Tennessee? Not much besides Givens, who's not really a #1. Indy is set, the Jags are deep, and Houston has more pressing problems (though who IS their #2?) AW: Denver, yes. Kansas City, yes. Oakland no, but San Diego only has a very old McCardell NE: Philly of course, everyone else had made their splash NN: Minnesota? Only Burleson and Williamson, neither of whom is very good. Green Bay if they lose Walker, Detriot because it's Millen, and Chicago lost out on ARE. NS: Atlanta needs one, but can't add it; Carolina's stable, New Orleans...too far away from a run, and Tampa has Clayton and Galloway. NW: Seattle, no. San Francisco? Only has Bryant. The Rams are fine, and the Cards are fine. So possibly some nibbles there. -
Franchise Players.....Changes That Could....
silvermike replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what I've heard - and strictly speaking, I think it's the average of the top 5 players at any position, who are just incidentally QBs. (Do we know who they are? Manning-Brady, I'd imagine, then I thought at one point Favre and Culpepper and McNabb were up there) -
I hate to me a grammar nazi, but this one is wrong to the point of being sheerly nonsense.

Ghosts of free agents past
silvermike replied to The Rev.Mattb74 ESQ.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't forget Bobby Shaw! But otherwise, that's true, the Bills offesnive FAs have been miserable since forever. It's all draft picks - Willis, Henry, Antowain, Thurman at RB, Moulds, A. Reed, Price, at WR (was Lofton a trade?), and god knows about that trainwreck of an offensive line. Trey Teague? -
I think we should just use the entire draft to sabotage New England. Trade up or down, as necessary, to get the pick right before them in every round, and draft to *their* needs. That'll show'em!
-
That's not a rumor, that's speculation. A WR wanting to play with the QB with whom he's had the most success? Just logical. "Might be a good fit" isn't a rumor.

Mawae will be good this year, but he's an old man. It's not like Buffalo was a center away, we need to develop our own talent, or at least sign someone with a future. Suddenly, it'll be 2007 and Mawae will retire and we'll be back to where we are now.

Finally, Ryan Pickett is in Buffalo today....

Maybe we can trade the rights to Travis Henry for him. Oh, wait... -

silvermike replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is there any reason to think the Cards wouldn't match a reasonable offer we make to him? -
"Enamored" I guess you CAN complain if you're Marv's wife.
-
"It's funny, in the course of three hours he became enamored with Marv Levy and the head coach," Dunn said. "These decisions are so often made with your gut, and this was an easy call for him." http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AjPU...ov=ap&type=lgns

So where does this leave us in 2007 when Mawae, Villareal, and Runyon are too old? 34+. -
Bills interested in Robert Royal??

Sounds like a guy who signs for the minimum and may or may not make it out of training camp. Whatever. -

New England has a younger Dan Koppen at C, I ccan't imagine Mawae wants to go be a back up.
