  1. That's the same we got for Peerless Price. The Pats needed Branch way more than they needed this pick
  2. I've said it before - I agree that it would have been better to make the field goal than screw up the 4th down. If we made it, it'd've been the gutsy call that beat the Pats. This isn't a year where we're clearly a better team than most and just have to play our game to win - we need to take a chance at a knockout when we get it.
  3. You know what would have showed a lot of confidence? If on 4th and one, JP just kneeled down. We don't need any points. We were playing one of the best teams in football, on the road, with a penchant for late-game heroics. You gotta go for the knockout if you have any faith in your running game, your offensive line, and your defense.
  4. Yes, making the field goal would have given us a better chance to win the game than not converting the 4th down. The Pats were in field goal range at the end, so strictly speaking, we would have lost unless we block the kick. You play to win the game.
  5. So, one INT for Ngata, one for Whitner. One week, still a wash
  6. You do realize the game isn't over, right?
  7. Sausage meat in chili is a great call. It adds a much deeper flavor than the usual pork/beef/veal mix.
  8. Time to play with a chip on your shoulder, JP. If you beat Brady/Belichick once, he'll be out of your head, and out of everybody else's. Do it for the league.
  9. Just like last year - Jason Peters.
  10. It's sleazy that he thought of it first, but I'd happily bring in a cut from New England and Miami to grill for a few days before the season started, and letting them go afterwards. Now, it's in poor faith if you don't make it clear, but if you lay it on the line for the player, and he signs the contract, then that's a good deal. If Belichick told Freddie he'd play, and then cut him, then he should grieve it.
  11. If you want bad, go to the Sabres shop. They have training camp jerseys of guys that never made the team, or even Rochester (Brad Self? Methot?) selling for $190 or so, last time I checked. Does anyone buy those?
  12. Those are crummy numbers for Brown, but it's entirely Mularkey's fault on the play calling: the -5/fumble was that broken double reverse, and the -2 was on that pitch out. So take away those two plays, and he's 5-23-TD, averaging 4.6 ypc and no fumbles.
  13. And remember, they were in the game for a while, because Charlie Batch screwed up several times. So if Miami does any "Well, we gave the defending champs a good fight, and the got us in the end" crap, remember: Charlie Batch didn't win no Super Bowl.
  14. Dec. 17th @Buffalo. Nobody who loves the Dolphins would schedule that game for them. December in Buffalo. Miami's house of pain.
  15. The Bills will be better than: New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, St. Louis Rams, and San Francisco 49ers. And that's conservative, I think.
  16. Because Dick Jauron hates you.
  17. Heh - sounds like he's suprised himself we added him to the roster. Hmmm.
  18. So, for 2006: Whitner: Starting McCargo: Half-time Youboty: Incomplete Simpson: Pushing for starts Williams; Starting Ellison, Merz, Pennington, Butler: Depth vs. 2005: Parrish: Backup Everett: Backup Preston: Backup King: Cut Gates: Cut Geisinger: Cut
  19. The 3rd QB is designated as an emergency QB - that is, he's not entirely active for the game. If he comes in before the 4th quarter, the top two QBs are deactivated. There are free substitutions in the 4th.
  20. The important thing is establishing yourself at slot receiver. That's what makes or breaks new GMs.
  21. Well, it's in Foxboro, for one thing. That'll explain a few points on the line. And Maroney hasn't exactly been vital to the Pats previous success, being a rookie and all. Corey Dillon is pretty good. And Matt Light is back, along with a solid interior line. And there's still Richard Seymour, Wilfork, Vrabel, Samuel, Wilson, Harrison, etc. It's a good team. I think we have a good shot and could catch them off guard, but we've got a long ways to go to be favored - or even - with them this year.
  22. I am intrigued by Davenport. He always had a lot of buzz as Ahman Green's backup, and promptly got hurt when he had the chance. He's decent out of the backfield, can block, and can run. The dump in a closet issue probably costs him in Marv's mind, and it's not really a pressing need. But maybe if someone got hurt, we'd take a look.
  23. Ken Simonton. He was LIKE a 1,000 yard back. Just wasn't.
  24. Yeah, I don't think we played it right or anything - Bryant McKinnie, while not great, is distinctly a less-bad Mike Williams, and a consensus choice over him. Levi Jones and Freeny at #4 would have had Mel Kiper cuss out Donahoe on national TV, which shows what he's worth. Henderson and Reed are great players. Javon Walker - eh...he got out-caught by Josh Reed for three out of four seasons. Granted, that's a big injury in there for one of them, and he had one amazing season. But that was with a yet-uncrappy Brett Favre. I say he's still got to prove himself. For a first round pick!
  25. http://nfl.com/draft/history/years/2002 What a sh-- draft. One out of the top six picks is worth anything (Carr, Harrington, Williams, and Sims are all busts). Then a handful of decent picks before you hit the likes of Wendell Bryant, Donte' Stallworth, William Green, Philip Buchanon, TJ Duckett, Ashley Lelie, Mike Rumph, and Patrick Ramsey. And that's just the first round.
