  1. The odds of winning each game don't go up for a winless team, but since no team has gone 0-16, relying on history does get you to a lock that they'll win one game. 0-1 teams win go 500-525, 0-2 teams go 300-231, etc. There haven't been too many 0-12 and 0-13 teams, and no 0-15 team has ever lost. It's not good statistics.
  2. http://wnysportsblogs.com/2006/10/14/hitti...ers-week-5.aspx. The game charting is pretting impressive: Some bad news for rookies: and some good:
  3. 1.) He hasn't been producing since he left Minnesota. 2.) He'd be a major distraction to young quarterback 3.) He's due $10M per year for the next couple seasons. That'll slow down the old line-rebuilding project.
  4. Didn't he come back as JP-era? Or was that someone different?
  5. This is a lousy comparison and you know it. This is an unusually ugly game for Manning. Kitna played a bad game, the type of which that have caused him to be cashiered from his previous jobs in Cincinatti and Seattle. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4157/c...3WJ_7GF_z3.uLYF He has a career rating in the mid-70s, and gets intercepted as often as he throws TDs. I agree that we shouldn't take him lightly, but if he's a QB our offense has to fear, we're not going to have a lot of good games on the schedule.
  6. Every QB can blow a game against a good defense. Look at Manning vs. the Pats a couple years ago. Or hell, Roethlisberger in the Super Bowl. The question is only how often does he do it, and how much can he add when he's on his game.
  7. Adding to above, I think we really need a TE that can be a part of the passing game. Something to keep a safety honest so we can use our speed downfield. Gandy's an average starter and would be a terrific depth player. Let's see if we can find someone to put in front of him next year. In the mean time, I think we can still win 5-6 more games with what we have.
  8. Rex Grossman is 4-0. After three years of being on a team with a great defense and a terrible offense - which he was blamed for in no small part - he's broken through and become an excellent QB in this league. JP should ideally be on his career path. He's just a year behind - and an unusually raw prospect at that. I don't mind if anyone says Rex is better now - he wasn't at JP's point in his career. JP did better than Hasselbeck against this team last week. There's not a lot of bright spots to be had, we got creamed. But it's against a good team, we're 2-3, and we've got 11 more games to play.
  9. If we beat Brad Johnson, we can beat Kitna. Not much difference in my mind.
  10. You know, it wouldn't be that hard to get a more accurate QB rating, taking into account all of VABills' objections - add sacks as both an attempt and negative yardage, count fumbles as an attempt and an interception, etc. The question, I guess, is if you have to count running as well.
  11. Ignoring DaQuixers, you gotta think Bledsoe's what, 6'5? He's not going to beat you in a footrace, but the man only has to take to many steps if he's got open field ahead of him. And you have to give him credit for lunging for the TD and taking the nasty hit. This, of course, has absolutely no bearing on the Bills. It's just an interesting play that happened.
  12. Moorman said that it was a broken play and not a trick, for what that's worth.
  13. Well, our only winning season since 1999 came in them in 2004, so I'll bet we're a little better than 5-40. When we have an offseason with nothing else to worry about, we can talk about the uniforms. When we lose, I'd rather the team focus on the players and the game plan.
  14. Why is it by week 5, we still act surprised when JP has up days and down days. Isn't this almost exactly what the consensus was?
  15. Yeah, I only meant after four games.
  16. I'll note that if we had a team of trained monkeys picking the games, one in sixteen would have it right, or between six and seven. This means, of course, that TBD users are twice as dumb as monkeys. But we knew that already.
  17. Well, I hope he stays rising - position coach, OC. He's a good guy.
  18. The personnel department? They want Matt Millen to hire someone to do his job? Um, that doesn't seem like a good career move.
  19. How can we talk about this like it was a mistake? It's not a screw up, it's not a momentary lapse in judgement, it was a barbaric attack on another player that did serious and potentially disfiguring damage and could have been a lot worse! It's not as though he didn't see a car's brakelights in front of him and got in a fender bender, or gave him a shove and he landed badly. It was an assault. Ask Bertuzzi or Marty McSorley about a five-game suspension.
  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=2610160 Writes a long article about how rookie safeties are starting all over the league. The Bills have two of the ten starters. They get one sentence.
  21. All kidding aside, Brady really doesn't have any receivers. If you've got a great QB, why don't you give him the tools to finish the job, rather than cheapingn out with Doug Gabriel and Reche Caldwell? The Pats are $13M under the salary cap. If you're not going to pay Branch, pay SOMEBODY. Well, their loss!
  22. At some point, I think, you don't need the consent of the victim to file charges. It'd be the responsibility of the DA in Tennessee to do so. Basically, I think, to prevent the intimidation/bribery likely in case where the victim might face pressure. Like, in this case...
  23. It at least resembles him - maybe it's a different member of the Kelly flock?
  24. Remember when Ditka coached the Saints? That must have been a fun time to be a bears fan.
  25. Way too light. Season suspension, at a minimum, would have been the appropriate move, combined with a criminal prosecution. I guess we can still hope for a prosecution. It was an assault.
