  1. But what else is the offseason for? New England Buffalo* New York Miami AFC North Pittsburgh Baltimore* Cincinnati Cleveland AFC South Indianapolis Tennessee Houston Jacksonville AFC West San Diego Denver Kansas City Oakland WC: Buffalo over New England; Baltimore over San Diego Divisional: Buffalo over Pittsburgh, Indianapolis over Baltimore Championship: Buffalo over Indianapolis NFC East: Philadelphia Dallas Washington New York NFC North: Chicago Green Bay * Detroit * Minnesota NFC South New Orleans Atlanta Carolina Tampa Bay NFC West San Francisco Arizona St. Louis Seattle Wild Card:Chicago over Detroit, Philadelphia over Green Bay Divisional New Orleans over Chicago, San Francisco over Philadelphia Championship: San Francisco over New Orleans Super Bowl XLII: Buffalo over San Francisco Chris Berman's dream come true.
  2. I don't understand how the Chargers can go this long without a real wide receiver. Keenan McCardell (at this point in his career), Vincent Jackson, and Eric Parker match up unfavorably with George Wilson, Clarence Coleman, and Jeremy McDaniel. And it bites them every time - it handcuffs the QB. Luckily they have LT and Gates, or they'd be lucky to score 14 points per game.
  3. What about Willis and our third to the Giants for their 2nd and 5th?
  4. Not gonna happen - Marv is a Bills guy, and Ralph gave him a hell of a chance. He's not going to turn his back on it now. Also, the fact that Marv couldn't get the HC job in Buffalo means it's pretty questionable if he'd get anywhere else.
  5. The Bills should play a preseason home game every year in Toronto - I think that's a given. I also wouldn't mind if the other home preseason game went to the Carrier Dome every year as well - that'd save the season ticket holders a solid $50 per year and also increase the regionalization of the team. As for moving regular season games away...
  6. Yep. The more players in the draft, the better. If say, Cleveland bites on Adrian Peterson and lets Alan Branch fall...
  7. Hey, the Rams got a 3rd round pick from Miami for Lamar Gordon. THIS Lamar Gordon: http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/302034
  8. It's legal because "people who don't live in SoCal" are not a federally protected group. Now, say, if there was a case of the team not selling tickets to anyone with a billing zip code in a generally black neighborhood, and you could prove that intent, that would be illegal. And selling only to Jews would be illegal too, since it's religious discrimination. As best I understand the law, anyway.
  9. So that means that next year is a pure audition - doesn't sound like fun, and that's not a team that's heading up, what with no answers at QB, a retiring running back, a flighty WR, and an aging defensive corps.
  10. There's no doubt that Martz is a gifted offensive mind. The question is can he be an efficient leader? In St. Louis, he appeared to be a master tactician that lost his team some days.
  11. Of course it's grandstanding, pandering, and everything else. But I'm not going to complain when it works in my *favor*. It's how democracy works sometimes - give the people what they want, keep your job. If he succeeds, I don't care if he's running to turn America into a Scientologist theocracy.
  12. I'll throw out Eric Johnson here.
  13. Ian Scott, Drew Bennett, and Adalius Thomas. Maybe Najeh Davenport.
  14. The AFC playoff teams went 21-3 against the NFC. 21-3! New England, San Diego, and the Chiefs were undefeated. Meanwhile, the NFC playoff teams went a mere 10-14. The reason the NFC teams had worse records isn't that they were beating each other up, it's that they were all losing to the AFC. After all, the intra-AFC winning percentage is the same as the intra-NFC winning percentage. In fact, it has been so every season in league history. Saying that NFC teams have worse records because they keep losing to each other is nonsense.
  15. I think it's clear that this can't be allowed to stand. That said, Grossman may yet be a better option than returning to Brian Griese, and yanking your starter for the playoffs seems like bad form. So I think they'd be best off making a loud but symbolic statement: Brian Griese takes the first snap next week. Handoff to Benson, whatever - just a simple play before Grossman goes back in. And a short leash the rest of the day. Just a side note - has a QB ever been benched in the middle of a playoff game and had his backup come back to win?
  16. Pat also at least claimed that he didn't like how he was treated by Donahoe.
  17. 1990: 4.34 1991: 4.71 1992: 4.44 1993: 3.53 (!) . . . 2006: 3.70 2005: 3.75 2004: 3.88 2003: 3.90
  18. I think that letting Big Pat go is the single most damning aspect of the old regime. Unforgiveable, and we're still suffering for it.
  19. Nick Saban had one measly win more than Mike Mularkey in their respective two year stints. I'd say Dave Wannstedt (two playoff seasons) and Wade Phillips (ditto) are more or less a wash, though Wanny had one more to work with, plus the 1-7 disaster that really wasn't his fault. Then you get to Greggo vs. Jimmy Johnson. Well... In any case, I don't think anyone's arguing that the Bills have made great coaching choices.
  20. Houston does still have Dominack "my name used to be davis" Williams, who has had some success there. Gary Kubiak is a disciple of the Mike Shanahan theory of running backs, which works against spending a top-5 pick on one. My gut feeling is that they go line in the first round.
  21. Of course. All the more reason to enjoy the chance for more revenge.
  22. So, newcomers? From the newly unemployed: Saban already has a job, Cowher should take the year off, and Dennis Green probably won't get another go-around. Jim Mora, Jr has an outside shot, I think, of landing a new job. I think that if wither Crennell or Coughlin gets fired, they'll have some serious interviews. Shell, of course, will go back whence he came.
  23. Is anyone here not planning to watch the playoffs since the Bills ain't in it?
  24. So, current vacancies are: Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Arizona, Miami. Likely/possible futures: Oakland, New York (N), Cleveland Am I missing any?
  25. I'm putting in for a mere $100,000 per year. Best value in the NFL. I'll only throw two games per year, but try really hard every other one.
