  1. I mean - every so often a team signs a scrub and it pays off - think the Panthers with Jake Delhomme. Just legitimately big-name signings, that worked out.
  2. left out Drew Brees, obviously.
  3. I just want to put the question out there: Who do you believe to be the top five FA moves made by any team since say, 1999, when we last went to the playoffs. Limited, I think, to players who were legitimately expected to be super stars, and not the sort of 'miracle move' of a guy coming from nowhere and dominating. Offhand, I can think of these: 1.) Willie Roaf, Chiefs 2.) La'Roi Glover, Cowboys 3.) Pat Williams, Vikings 4.) Stephen Davis, Panthers 5.) Jerry Rice, Raiders Ther's gotta be better, though, right?
  4. Hell, if we can get a all-star quality LT undrafted in Peters, why not an undrafted WR? After all, Rod Smith was undrafted. And how about an RB to replace Willis, while we're at it. Priest Holmes did it!
  5. Bly's only under contract for one more season, 2007, and at a cost of about $4 million. YOu have to believe that the Lions are either considering releasing him straight-out, or expecting a low return since the new team will need to work out a longer deal or lose him right away.
  6. BUt you won't change your name away from "Willis990" despite hating him?
  7. What's that quote from?
  8. Just so we're clear, Willis: a.) If you were Jim Irsay, would you fire Bill Polian? Who would you replace him with? b.) What do you make of Willis McGahee's character flaws?
  9. How exactly are you old enough to remember the K-Gun, anyway?
  10. Polian's provided a big, fat, Super Bowl ring in return for Irsay's investment. I'm going to guess he's happy as a clam with Bill.
  11. It's a myth that you need lesser linemen to play a 3-4 than you do for a 4-3. It's just the opposite. You still need basically the same performance from your offensive line, but now they have to do it with three people. That's why successful 3-4 teams often use DTs at defensive end: take the Patriots, who start Seymour, Warren, and Wilfork on the front line. ALL defensive tackles. With the extra linebacker, you gain flexibility, not relief for the line. If you can't do it with two DTs, you're sure as hell not gonna with one.
  12. I'd highly recommend these players in Madden 2008 - that's where washed-up ex-names go to thrive.
  13. Really? I didn't notice that. One-day retirement contract or something?
  14. This guy's got his own set of rankings. Huh.
  15. I'd bring in Musa Smith and Justin Griffith for a look, anyway. Cheap depth never hurt anybody.
  16. Except for that 200+ yard day Chris Chambers had against him.
  17. 7 years, $63 million. Would you do it?
  18. Old news - he's been saying this all season.
  19. What about Dookie Davenport?
  20. Vet Minimum couldn't hurt.
  21. http://community.foxsports.com/blogs/footb..._Edge_of_Reason Not nearly enough attention to his one great failing - firing Bruce DeHaven and giving us a special teams that burned through a top ten offense and defense.

  23. Hey Wade, remember this fella? http://www.dallascowboys.com/team_coach_bruce_dehaven.cfm Your greatest mistake...will you make it again?
  24. Wade got an 8-8 season out of a team that: a.) Started a QB that never got another starting job b.) Had a leading rusher with 591 yards c.) Had an undrafted rookie playing in the 3rd WR spot, in his only real pro action, ever. d.) Had a tight end who painted his nails before games e.) Had just lost Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, and Bruce Smith, replacing them with Jonathan Linton, Jeremy McDaniel, and Erik Flowers. And for all that, he got them to post a top-10 offense, top-3 defense, with Joe Pendry ats his OC.
