  1. Post-Jones trade, the Bears have the 31st and 37th pick in the NFL draft. According to the old chart, that comes to the 14th pick in the draft - tantalizingly close to the Bills at #12. There's a non-zero chance that Brady Quinn will be on the board then, a decent answer to Chicago's QB woes. Also possible that they make a play for the rapidly-rising Greg Olsen, or whoever else Lovie has in mind. Would you take the trade for the 31st and 37th pick, which would give us 31, 37, and 43? That could result in, say, Tank Tyler at DT, Justin Blalock at OG, Brian Leonard at HB/FB, and say, Scott Chandler at TE, all on day one?
  2. Or you don't negotiate against yourself in public. Right now, they're entitled to a 1st and a 3rd if he leaves - why announced that you'll go down before someone comes with an offer?
  3. I really hope we don't sign June. He's going to be overpaid and average for a long time.
  4. What about our first for their 1st and 2nd from the Jets? Forget Willis.
  5. So now they've added one decent-to-good player and lost a whole bunch of decent-to-bad players. They have no QB, terrible WRs, no answers on the offensive line, no tight end, and an old defense that has one more old guy on it. Not afraid.
  6. He has tons to lose - like every future bit of earnings potential. He loses a portion of his signing bonus, he'll lose the balance of his contract. That's about $10 million according to the NFLPA's website. THat's a hell of a risk - considering the best he can get out of it is playing in Houston instead of Tampa.
  7. One signed, and two visiting. Where have you been looking if you haven't seen this? . . . or are you being sarcastic?
  8. Hey Pass the Pipe? Go root for the Redskins. They'll give you everything you want in the offseason.
  9. The rich get richer? The San Francisco 49ers? They're the rare team that's been worse than us lately.
  10. link?
  11. With what, 5000 members on the board? At some point, it's mathematically likely that somebody WILL be on a plane with George Seifert.
  12. pwned and lol in a row - do you use internet slang in every post?
  13. Don't count it until he signs it - a lot can go wrong in 24 hours of negotiation.
  14. You have GOT to be kidding me.
  15. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...arcustyler.html Here's the dude - "Demarcus" is his real first name. If we landed him in the second, that wouldn't suck.
  16. That's a typo. He's a second-round pick on his rookie contract.
  17. Wohoo! We can let Nate go and grab the guy I wanted us to take instead of Nate!
  18. Well, the Redskins do it by cutting the previous year's crop - and it's wildly unsuccessful. The Broncos - I don't really see them as huge free agent players. There was Jake Plummer, yes, but otherwise? Bailey and Walker were trades, who else have they added? Some Browns retreads? John Lynch?
  19. THat's only $9.1M, he's got a $23M deal, right? Leaving $14M...we have heard that he got about that much in guarantees though - could it all be in a signing bonus? That's a lot of cash to the cap.
  20. I say this every year, but I'm in favor of moving back. We do well with young talent, and there's plenty of it in the second round. I'd rather have more picks and hedge the risk.
  21. so presuming they re-sign Kiwaukee, that puts us with McGee, Youboty, Greer, and Thomas under contract. That's only space for one more CB, I think.
  22. TJ Duckett is not a TD machine. LaDanian Tomlinson is a TD machine. Duckett is a below-average RB with above-average short yardage skills. See Moe Williams.
  23. Too small a sample size, and necessarily due to the rules of the Hall, one that's already dated. On the other hand, if you look at recent final fours (excluding ex-first roudners acquired in other ways): 2006: Bears (Benson), Colts (Addai), Patriots (Maroney), Saints (Bush) 2005: Steelers (none), Broncos (none), Seahawks (Alexander), Panthers (Foster) 2004: Patriots (none), Eagles (none), Steelers (none), Falcons (Duckett) 2003: Patriots (none), Panthers (Foster), Eagles (none), Colts (James). So it does seem important, I guess
  24. Both guards are reportedly looking to match Hutch's 7/$49M deal. That's a long shot. Myers and Boone should be affordable. June is overpriced, Thomas will break the bank, and Nick Harber is probably reasonable.
  25. Word is that Steinbach is looking at Hutchison money this off season.
