  1. Why fortunate to hit on Allen? How about savvy or wise or incredibly bold to stand strong on a guy that pundits, fans, and fellow gm's were calling a bust even before the draft. As for this roster not being talented....I disagree. It was talented enough to win the AFC East for the 4th straight year, a playoff game, and take the eventual super bowl champions down to the last minute. Or was that just "fortunate"? And most of the top end talent being from before him.....other than Dawkins and Milano, who on Earth are you speaking of? Every other player on that roster was his acquisition. Cap hell?? The Bills currently have 5 million in AVAILABLE cap space for next year. Compare that to SF who are 30 million OVER, Cleveland who are 52 OVER, and NO who are 73 OVER. As for our roster not being as talented as KC....perhaps. But why compare us to the one team that won the super bowl? We did draft 28, so clearly there are 27 teams with a worse roster than us. You do realize that over the past 5 years the Bills have the 2nd most wins in the NFL. I guess we're just fortunate. I wonder why San Diego with Herbert and Jax with Trevor Lawrence aren't just as fortunate. If my glasses are rose colored, yours are bleak, dark, and downright depressing.
  2. Losing Brandon Beane would be a fatal blow to this organization. You could talk me into a McDermott replacement. But Pegula is smart. He knows why the franchise is thriving. BB is a top 5 GM in the league.
  3. McConkey, after a long process, became my guy. But by the time the draft came, I just wasn't excited about him. And trust me, the guy is a master route runner/separator. He would've been plug and play. But I give Beane credit for taking Keon. He's somewhere between Josh Allen and Greg Rousseau in terms of draft picks. Allen had the 56 percent completion percentage that enraged Bills fans, and Coleman runs a 4.61 40. Beane looked past both of those numbers and took a chance. Rousseau also was not explosive and most of his sacks came from the inside. He was roundly derided by many draft analysts. He's been good and I think he'll get even better. Keon fits the same mold. There's just something about him that will figure this out. I'd be fine he had a Greg Rousseau type of career...day 1 starter, core player. As for adding a player later....yes, yes, and yes. Walker would have been a brilliant addition. And who knew Hicks would be there at 95. They love Bishop though, so at least they got their guy. And yes, they needed a DT, and I think he'll be a good addition. But man oh man, if Walker hits, it will be tough to watch.
  4. All good points. Although I love both of the last RB picks. I think James Cook fundamentally signaled a complete change of direction for this offense. Undynamic Singletary was replaced with very dynamic Cook. They did it again the next year upgrading Knox with Kincaid. They had Diggs over the last 4 years so a #1 was not a priority. I'm wondering....how did you want them to address wr in this year's draft?
  5. Again. Respectfully disagree. A first and third round TE. Running backs....a 2nd, two 3rds, and a 4th, WR-Traded your first for Diggs, and used a 1rst this year (I know it was actually a 2nd) on Keon, and a 4th on Gabe. I agree that he has passed on some great receivers. The Ford pick with DK and Brown on the board is haunting. But every gm has those scars. You make the point that at least the Chiefs have tried. But it's been one bad move after another. In the Skyy Moore draft, Beane gets Shakir in the 5th. That's way better use of resources. But yes, he's been afraid to pull the trigger on wide receivers. But he also knows that championships are won in the trenches. Teams that build with weapons, like Miami and the Raiders never win. I don't think it's a fatal flaw. And if Coleman hits, this entire conversation changes. Just so you know, if we would have picked Devontez Walker in the 3rd. I'd still be dancing. We didn't. Time will tell if Dewayne Carter ends up being better at his job than Franklin or Tez. Also, if Beane had a chance at a Rome Odunze or a Jamar Chase, he'd NEVER pass. He just hasn't had the chance. But I'm concerned about this receiver room. I like the Coleman pick. He could have played it safe with Ladd (who I loved), but he swung for the fences. I appreciate that. I thought we needed another. They went in a different direction (I'm rooting for you Dewayne Carter!!). But yes, we are both concerned about this receiver room. Who I'm not concerned with is Brandon Beane.
  6. I'd be interested to know what those fatal flaws are. I'm guessing you are referring to not surrounding our qb with elite weapons. We lost to the Chiefs last year who had a worse receiving core than we did. So clearly the Super Bowl champion aren't much better at surrounding their qb with elite weapons. They used 2nd round picks on Sky Moore and Mecole Harman, Selected CEH in the first round!!, traded away the best receiver in football in his prime, traded a 3rd pick for Kadarius Toney, and used a 4th round pick on Jehu Chessen. Those are Veach's moves since Mahomes. Yet, he has 3 super bowls. Is he better at this than Beane is?
  7. And I've loved every minute of it. Again I was a lifelong Bears fan. They've never had a run of sustained excellence like this. The Bills haven't gotten over the hump, but that in no way constitutes any kind of failure. We seem to both agree that they have been a top 3 team over the past 5 years. I will sign up for that over the next five years also. Because that will give them a chance to win the Super Bowl every one of those years.
  8. So this is where we disagree. I think the Beane/Allen combo is so strong that it will result in at least 2 super bowls. I think they're both elite.
  9. I'm not sure Baltimore fans would agree that he is far superior. Or NFL fans. Lamar did win the MVP. Josh has not. But I agree that Josh is superior. Or at least, I'd rather have him. Btw, they have the same exact amount of playoff wins. I'm simply arguing that BB is a top 5 GM....top 3 if you're going off wins. Top 4 if you're going off playoff wins. He must be doing something right. And one of those things was targeting, maneuvering, and developing said quarterback. I grew up in Chicago. The Bears have not done that once. BB did it on his first try, first draft....and I'm guessing you were screaming for Rosen on draft day obsessed with 56 percent completion percentage.
  10. Beane arrived after the draft and free agency in 2017. That was not his team. But I'll give you the extra year. Over last 6 years, the Bills have the 3rd most wins in the NFL (2 behind the Ravens). So Josh's developmental season pushes us down one spot. What exactly are you arguing.... 1. That he sucks 2. That he should be replaced 3. That only MOST wins in the last 5-6 years is acceptable
  11. While you're busy lmao-ing......here are the facts; https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-total-nfl-wins-last-5-years
  12. I couldn't agree more. The Bills have the 2nd best record in the NFL since he's arrived. I repeat....the 2nd best record in the NFL.
  13. I believe it is disputable that Mahomes has better weapons than Josh.
  14. No, he'd rather draft a potential starting center (after losing his starting center), a versatile and athletic linebacker, a pass rusher with serious 3rd down impact potential, and acquire a 4th round pick in next years draft over drafting a depleted talent pool of wide receivers in the 5th round. That's what he'd rather do. I prefer his approach to yours.
  15. i agree it's a sneaky good move. I balked at it initially. But i went to Wisconsin, not while Cephus was there, but I watched him a decent amount. He's not some nondescript guy. He's so strong, and would take over games. I'd wonder...."Is anybody paying attention to this guy. He could be a difference maker in the NFL." His 40 time at the combine destroyed him, although her did run 4.56 at his pro day. His first two years in the league were not promising, but he's the kind of training camp wonder that will have fans pounding the table for him around roster time.
  16. I'm going with Russell Gage. There's a LSU connection with Brady. He's been effective. Special teams beast. Locker room hero. And has the speed and skillset to play outside (although most of his career has been in the slot). But he feels like a Bills kind of guy.
  17. We've also seen the movie where we win the division and playoff games over and over
  18. You are on a Buffalo Bills message board on day 3 of the draft. You will assuredly be watching every game.
  19. Seems like lots of misinformation here. Personally, Worthy and Legette would have been disappointing picks for me. Before the draft, very few were clamoring for Worthy. Many fell in love with Legette. Why? He's fast and big. He also had a few highlight reel moments on youtube. Coleman's youtube highlights are just as fun. As for drafting him later, by all accounts, Coleman was going next to the Patriots, who promptly traded their pick the moment after the Bills took him. The deep wide receiver pool remains deep. Beane of course addressed other needs on the roster, as he should. We just watched the Chiefs win their 2nd straight super bowl with a laughably bad receiver room and an elite defense. You're fine, but the armchair gm's on this board are absurd. The Bills have the 2nd best record in the NFL since Beane has been here. He's good at every phase of his job....trades, free agency, and drafting. Does he have his misses? Does Josh throw interceptions?? That's sports. You win some and you lose some. But he wins a hell of a lot more than he loses. Enjoy the excellence of this team over the next decade. Whenever you get anxious, just say..."In Beane I Trust". He will always come through and put a winner on the field for us.
  20. I'm all about Troy, Tez, or Jermaine Burton falling to us in the 3rd. Heck....add Roman Wilson to that list
  21. I think a more pointed question would be... 1.) Would you rather have Xavier Legette, Xavier Worthy, or Ricky Pearsall in the first round OR 2.) Would you rather add a 3rd round pick, and have a choice between Troy Franklin, Adonai Mitchell, or Ladd McConkey in the 2nd round
  22. I, for one, am super glad you are not the GM of the Buffalo Bills. To not listen to a trade offer that benefits your team because you're scared of that team....sounds like a championship mindset!!
  23. Or we could just build the best team we possibly can without concern for what SCARY THEY are doing. It's good to have a GM who is not scared to make this kind of move like most of us would have. Getting a third to select the same player they would have selected at that spot (Ladd, Frazier, or Franklin) is smart and reeks of confidence. And that's why they pay him the big bucks
  24. Suddenly Wothy is a #1?? They weren't taking Worthy and they weren't taking Pearsall. So to get a 3rd round pick (when you didn't have one) to select the same player you were going to select anyway (Ladd, Franklin, Frazier, Mitchell, etc.) is nothing but damn smart GMing
  25. So Keita and I aren't the only Bills fans in Japan watching the draft!! I knew there were more out there.
