  1. To my understanding it is highly preferable to make the calls from the middle of the field. MLB or ILB is ideal, but I have also seen it with a safety, although this requires that that safety often has a good distance to move before the snap.
  2. 😂 OK. Fair enough, looks like a good pull for Beane, but I will point out that he has been an OLB not MLB, is coming off an injury, and he will remain on the practice squad in all likelihood for several weeks at least while he learns the system and the calls. I am optimistic he is an improvement but we will see. In the meantime it is still the Dodson/Bernard show.
  3. Don’t forget Reid Ferguson. Barkley is on season ending IR.
  4. Well said. And no, there has not been a single surprise to me, including dumping Basham for a bag of footballs.
  5. I am not confident at all in our options for the position, just hoping for the best and not expecting the problem to be solved through waiver wire pick ups or a last minute trade.
  6. Outstanding analysis as usual @GunnerBill. I think your summary of Gabe Davis and the WR situation is absolutely spot on. Gabe’s limitations in the short and intermediate game and the inability of anyone else to step up to that consistently, especially after Crowders injury, created major issues for the Bills offense last year. It is clear the Bills saw this and tried to fix it this off season. I think Harty and Sherfeld are significant upgrades over what we had and Kincaid adds an element and threat we simply did not have. Let’s hope the plan works, because Davis is what he is at this point.
  7. I repeat, who cares?
  8. He did not play long because he has been out with injury for the past three weeks and they were just giving him a bit of action without undue risk of injury. He was not benched. I thought he played fine in his limited snaps. Perhaps the best thing about him leaving is not having to be subjected to weekly fan analysis (and mis-analysis) of his play. He does not play here anymore so who cares.
  9. Since there is an extremely low likelihood that a competent and experienced MLB is somehow going to be available after cutdown, and since even then it would take a minimum of three or four weeks to get that guy up to speed and ready to QB the defense, I am very confident the Bills’ starting MLB is currently on the team. We may not like it, but that is the away it is.
  10. Conservative, yes. We certainly need a potentially serviceable younger back at least on the practice squad if Harris or (horror) Cook goes down. I would not want Murray getting the lions share if the load for an extended period.
  11. We have at least one of these third string against third string wonders every year. You are right about Murray who looked good last week and is not playing this week which should tell you all you need to know. He is their hammer. One of Mims/Johnson/Evans is destined for the practice squad, but the Bills want and I think need experience behind James Cook.
  12. It is the Game Day Over Reaction Thread after all.
  13. It was interesting that they started Basham in the first series. He seemed like he was out there very extensively in the first half. Trying to get one last long look before they decide to cut him? Showcasing for a trade? In either case, he did not help himself that I saw.
  14. Has there ever been a preseason game played that wasn’t? Half these guys will be unemployed on Tuesday. No game planning, very limited playbook on offense and defense, etc etc etc.
  15. Agreed. It is highly likely that in a real game the Bills are playin* that situation much more conservatively.
  16. I am not sure why people are so anxious to get rid of Epenesa. He has steadily improved year by year and chipped in 6.5 sacks last year. Jonathan is a good practice squad candidate. The Bills will need competition for that spot next year when Epenesa is likely gone. I am less high on Basham and less concerned what they might do with him although I do think it is too early to give up on him.
  17. Nothing wrong with the first string sitting out the preseason and giving the back up some PT.
  18. Because he is a notorious Dolphins fan and troll, and has been for years under different monikers. I am sick of his act. That’s why.
  19. Don’t bother with your “official prediction.” Literally no one cares.
  20. Yes, he was very briefly well behaved at first on his return, but predictably he is ramping up to full out obnoxious regular season form.
  21. Yes our resident Dolphins fan troll is back and can hardly contain himself.
  22. This is such a weak take. There is absolutely no evidence to support any of this. All in your head apparently.
  23. Not a chance. Completely different skill set for one.
  24. Who are these idiots who are actually donating money?
  25. Saleh is not a leader and not much of a head coach in my opinion. My bet is that at some point this year that will show itself and the Jets will end up badly underperforming to the mighty expectations being set for them.
