Too serious today I guess. -

I am kind of surprised to hear this argument from you as I thought you have always been an advocate of building the lines and not wasteing 1st round picks on DB's. Cromartie is decent but the Bills have too many holes to fill to give away draft picks to bolster their area of least need, even if the picks are next year's. -

You do not know what you are talking about. Facts are these: Bills Pass defense Passing Yds per game 184.2 2nd Yds per attempt 6.0 2nd Opp Comp % 56.8% 3rd Opp Attempts/game 32.4 20th (TN most at 37.8) Better than San Diego on all counts, but regardless, this hardly inidcates an overrated pass defense or one that is only good because they can not stop the run. This is hardly a big are a of need or concern for the Bills. Maybe Cromarie is better than what the Jets had, but he would be no lock to start on Buffalo and he has a big attitude problem. -
Has Trent Edwards said ANYTHING since his demotion?
FLFan replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Evidence of Trent's utter lack of leadership ability. He hangs his head and sulks away. Beyond the confidence issues, it is his inability to inspire any confidence in his team that is his major downfall. -
Free agency does not start until Midnight tonight. I expect the Bills to tender all their restricted FAs. Does not make sense not to. You do realize they bring 80 players to camp right? This does not mean he will make the team, but for now he is one of their few experienced starters.

Jason Campbell = Big league arm + little league head Just say no.

Anybody who wants the Bills to pick Terrence Cody
FLFan replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a bad comparison. BJ Raji was known in college to be very quick and powerful, a penetrator from the NT position, and racked up I believe 8 sacks his senior season. He had a great senior bowl as well. No one questioned his work ethic or dedication; his weight did not fluctuate. Raji is the real deal. Cody is trouble. -
Living in Skins country I have had more than my fair share of opportunities to watch them under Campbell. I am not impressed. I would not give anything up for him. The Bills would be better off making do with what they have if they are unable or unprepared this year to go after a true franchise QB this year. Campbell is just the same dog we already have, with different fleas.
-
Clearly you do not like either of these guys - fair enough - but both will be long gone before #9. Seattle and Washington will very likley want a QB given who their new leaders are. Hasslebeck is done, and Campbell is not going to be the man in DC. Even Cleveland may go QB and try to trade one of their current stiffs. Most scouts have both Bradford and Clausen as at least top ten and Bradford top 5. I think Shanahan goes with Clausen.

Stand in line with me, to punch NBC in the face!

Thinking? So far, I have not seen any evidence that you are capable of thinking. -
And you know this, how?
-
First, I did not question his integrity, just indvating my lack of interest in his opinion. I am sure he is nice, stand up guy. Sorry for assuming someone with the major credentials of writing for community newspapers should not be taken seriously. Just another fan offering his opinions without substance.

The artcile is linked on the front page of TBD for those interested. Personally, I could not be less interested in the uninformed opinions of some hack from the Hamburg Sun.

Bills #30 in 2010-2011 Rankings-Ouch
FLFan replied to gobills28's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First, who care what Jason LaConfora thinks. What is really preposterous though is the idea of a "pre-season" ranking before free agency and draft. Just more mental masturbation for ill informed and bored psudo NFL analysts in the off-seasson. -
Did you read the article? He gave several reasons why he feels it is a better base defense.
-
Great. A QB with questionable arm stength, inaccurate over 10 yards downfield, who has not had to learn to read defenses or throw from under center. Just what the Bills need to add to their stable of weak armed, flair pass specialists. I ma really psyched about this guy!

porter and thomas likely to be cut
FLFan replied to dwight in philly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am sure there is a reason Joey Porter was riding the bench last year. Perhaps his notoriously bad attitude and me first perspective? George Edwards was his linebackers coach - no chance he ends up in Buffalo and that is a good thing. I would be more inclined to take a chance on Thomas as a reserve/pass rush specialist in the 3-4 alignment. He only started 11 games last year and only had 34 total tackles and 3 sacks - clearly no longer a dominent force or every down player. It would make sense for the Patriots to cut him given the big contract he signed. For a reasonable price he would bring some veteran leadership and knowledge of the 3-4 defense. -
I agree with this. It will take time to develop the personnel. I expect a mix of both sets depending on situations. As for the linebackers, Poz and Mitchell would be OK in the middle (McClain would be nice though) The priority is a NT that can keep the center and and a guard off the inside backers or it does not matter who plays the middle spots. A weak D-Line dooms the 3-4. Unfortunately, the Bills could not accomplish this with 4 lineman for the most pasrt in recent years. What we really need is some creativity, agressiveness, and willingness to play to the strengths of the personnel on hand and it sounds like that is the philosophy of both Edwards and Gailey.
-
I guess you miss the point. Try a little civility and dial down the unwarrented supiority complex and maybe people will not think your just being jerk.

The Steelers have actually been a model of how to manage free agency and the cap and still remain competitive. They do go after free agents, but never the high profile big ticket guys. They have scored with quite a few. They have let some some of their FAs go, but have hung onto key core players. This is the model that Nix has stated matches his philosophy, and is all that makes sense really for the Bills. Hopefully Whaley can bring some of those skills to the Bills front office.

+1 Although refusing to devolve into suicidal negativity will get you ripped around here. DE Bills Fan "Maybe you are happy to continue to root for a loser, but a lot of people have had enough (me included!!!)" Thats your right. My right to wonder why you do not just go away then.
-
There is no way Clausen lasts until #9 but if he does the Bills need to take him. You build around a franchise QB and he has that ability. You can not count on getting another chance. Just dreaming though because there is no way he gets past Washington and Seattle. (not to mention St. Louis) Kiper is off base here in my opinion.
-
I also do not get why people are automatically believing this. Just because Tim Graham said it? The AFC East blogger for ESPN? Please. He has been right at the top of unsubstantiated rumour mongering over the past week. Get some perspective people. That aside, I never liked Marty as a coach. He was an absolute disaster in DC - control freak extraordinaire. This would not be a good fit. Move on.

Thats fine - I understand. I gave up my season tickets when Ralph fired Chuck Knox, and I was not alone. (I did rebuy the year before Levy was hired though so got great seats) Everyone is free to stop supporting the team. I choose to wait and see and look expectantly forward to a newly competitive team. I am not delusional, I just choose to be a fan. I will be right there bitching and complaining if things go poorly, but I just do not see the doom and gloom others do right now.
