'nother pundit calling for dooooooom!
FLFan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not sure I understand your point. Sanchez played every game and Edwards did not. Well over twice as many attempts. Their yards per attempt and completion % are the same. -

Bryan Bulaga competing for starting job...
FLFan replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bulaga, as I thought that was the topic of the post. Clearly Oher would have been a better pick than Maybin last year, with the benefit of hindsight. By this time next year we may be saying the same thing about some other LT prospect that we passed in this draft, but not Bulaga, and I believe Spiller will prove to be a very valuable player to the Bills. -

People will haul out any arguement to justify their belief the Bills should have reached for a LT prospect rather than draft a player at 9 who is much more likley to help them this year. There is a reason Bulaga fell so far in the first round. As for the Bills, he did not fll a need nor was he the BPA. Time will tell how all these picks pan out, but this guy would have simply duplicated skills the Bills already have - not worth a first round pick for them. The tackle situation will resolve itself in time, and this will take more than 1 year. -
Super Bowl XL head official admits to blown calls
FLFan replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That game cost me $1,300. in a survivors pool. I am still pissed at the officiating - the Steelers were handed that game. -
It probably will not be on NFL Network but will be shown on a local channel, so we get to listen to the absolute worst broadcast team in history. (well, maybe not that bad but pretty bad) At least we will see it live.

Ryan has easily become my favorite coach to hate in the NFL. What a self promoting douche he is. If the Bills won no other games but beat the jets twice it would be a good season. (although I do expect more) I think the Jets will prove to be overarated and disappointing this year and I look forward to watching the fat man squirm on the sidelines.

This is off base. With respect to Kelly, he went out of his way to establish himself as the leader of the team. He hosted the entire team at his house after every home game. He spent time with the lineman, backs, and receivers. He led by example. This is how leadership works - you develop the position of respect and some loyalty so that when it is time, you can demand performance. Leadership has been lacking from Trent's game no doubt. I am glad he realizes that and is trying to develop the necessary relationships to establish it. Time will tell if his play can put him in a position to command respect along with this.

Thanks for the excellent report. Much appreciated.

I agree - enough is enough. It was bad enough last year, but this year, when you have new coaches and a new scheme, and you are trying to establish a different attitude and focus for the team, you cannot afford to have one player putting himself above the rest and getting away with it. I do not think this was about money for the Bills, just time to move on and recognize you have some young players working their butts off for that position. I think Schobel's actions clearly indicate he was trying to force a move like this all along. Screw him.

Exactly. Same old stuff different day. The conspiracy theorists and bound to be negative no matter what types are out in force today on multiple threads. Facts be damned.

Bills challenged to overcome losing legacy
FLFan replied to Delete This Account's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I liked the piece JW, but please avoid using Smerlas for comment in future articles, for your own journalistic integrety. The guy is a fat windbag who has had a thing against the Bills since he was pushed out. Not credible IMO. -
Also an AP story by John W, who frankly is much more credible than Tim Graham, whose opnions I do not really respect anymore. Best news of camp so far in my book.

Tebow 5 years / $33 M - $8.7 M guaranteed

You are probably right, but I was hoping for a different outcome. While I think that under Gailey's offense and coaching Trent has chance to elevate his game, I still think the best we can hope from him is average. (which would be a signiifcant improvement over last year) I do not believe he has either the leadership skills or the mental toughness to be a top flight QB. On a positive note, average performance from he QB spot could be enough to make the Bills at least competitive and entertaining this year. We shall see.

All true, and probably the right thing. I am confident that whatever way this goes, they will have a much higher probability of success under this staff and because of this process. I had no such confidence under the previous regime.

Lack of OT's May Kill BILLS Again!
FLFan replied to bills in va's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Notify the NFL - apparently we were cheated out of win - we really had 7. Good to know. -
This sceario makes sense, but I think this is far from over. The next month should be interesting. I am not at all shocked that Chan is going for experience over potential right now, but if Trent stumbles and Brohm continues to improve, this could easily flip in my opinion.

Here is a hint Trent is the starter
FLFan replied to bradjames24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
B word, B word, B word, etc. Seriously, I do not expect this to hold up throughout camp and pre-season. May make the most sense for now. -
Its starts: Edwards, Brohm, Fitz

I agree with the OP's sentiments, but I have long ago quit expecting anything else from ESPN. The Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) as it was initially billed, could once be counted on for quality sports reporting and in depth coverage. Not anymore. I still find some entertainment value in it on occasion, and do watch Sports Center, but mostly on mute to see if there might be some sports story that I want to look into further through real news outlets. As for their "analysis", particularly on NFL football, it is mostly a big F grade, geared towards superstars and big cities, because that generates ratings. The vast majority of their viewership does not want in depth analysis, they want easily digested sound bites and info on the stars. Not unlike their similar tastes for "news". The comparison to Entertainment Tonight is apt.

Schobel leaning more towards coming back...
FLFan replied to sllib olaffub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Frankly, I am tired of the Aron Schobel Show. He has been a decent player for the Bills, but this maybe I will, maybe I won't act has been going on for several years now. He does not warrant any special treatment. The Bills have handled this correctly so far in my opinion. If he wants to retire - great - good luck and thanks for the memories. If you want to play football (and collect $8 mill) show up. No special rules. Personally, I would rather see a fully committed, perhaps less accomplished, player in his spot than a guy who only shows up when has to to collect the paycheck. Time to move on. -
LMAO. What a circus it will be in Cinci with Chad what's his name and TO on the same team. I hope Carson Palmer has a source for valium.

Bob Matthews: How The 2010 Bills Can Make The Playoffs
FLFan replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You state these assertions as if they were fact when they are far from it. Schedule - difficulty of schedule cannot be predicated on last years performance of any team. This is proven every year in the NFL. New coaching staff - yes they must learn a new system, but this is entirly positive in my opinion given given the horrible job done by the last regime. new defensice scheme - Yes, learning going on. On the other hand, Buffalo's soft defense under Jauron and Fewell was maddening to say the least. A question mark. No starting caliber QB - Biggest question mark. Can Brohm thrive with increased maturity and solid coaching? Can Edwards be made seviceable by better coaching and game planning? far from a definitive answer at this point, despite the questions. Lost 2 starting receivers - We lost two mediocre starting receivers. TO is past his prime and not the right answer here. Josh Reed has never been better than average as a slot receiver. Time to see what the younger guys can do. Only addition of note ... - According to who? Can you predict how the Bills draft choices will play? They made a couple of solid veteran FA additions at LB and DL for the new scheme. Spiller is more than a scatback. This team has question marks but it is far from fact that they are "marginally worse on paper". I like the direction and think there is no way this team is worse than last year. Playoffs - unlikely. Competitive and entertaining - very likley. We will soon see.
