New Bill - former Lion Quintez Cephus signed (Update: Now released)
FLFan replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even if the plan is to add an established veteran like Chark, and I am not convinced it is, they do not have the cap space to do that until after June 1. -
Zack Moss. What are the other 16?

Live 2024 NFL Draft thread - Rounds 4-7 (Do NOT tip the Bills pick)
FLFan replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall
Disappointing that they did not make a move for one of the three remaining interesting WR prospects. -
I think this is spot on. Coleman is an upgrade to Davis and that was clearly a need. I was not expecting a number 1 with this pick, and never thought Legette was that guy but he might develop into it I suppose. When they dumped Diggs they set up this dilemma. Perhaps since my expectation was not to come out of this draft with a true number 1 unless they somehow magically traded up for a top 3 guy or got very lucky, it explains the lack of desperation I feel over the Coleman pick. They were always going to have to approach this differently this year. I think if they can manage to add a guy today with some speed and Z receiver developmental upside they should be OK for this year. They may still sign a FA who can fill that role temporarily. In the meantime, Coleman is an upgrade at the X spot for sure.

Rd 3, Pick 89 (25): LB Terrell Bernard, Baylor

Just skimmed through this. Many of the same people with the same bad takes you will find this year. Fun exercise. Thanks. -
PFF Trade Grades - Round 1 - Bills B+ and A
FLFan replied to Slippery Rubber Mats's topic in The Stadium Wall
People fall in love with speed. He is an incomplete receiver, a niche player, and not what the Bills needed. He may end up being more than that, but chances are far greater in my mind that he gets added to the pile of speed demons in NFL history who never grow beyond their gadget role. He will make some plays for KC, but I would be surprised if he rises above role player. -
It better be a WR. Franklin is my guess. Coleman would not surprise me, but I hope not.

I think many of them are posters here actually.

Bills interested in Deebo Samuel per Mike Giardi
FLFan replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Deebo is not happening. He is a very poor scheme fit and not what they are looking for to fill their WR holes. -
I tried to listen to Jeremy and his little friend this morning but had to turn it off. It was endless repeat of their hot takes over yesterday and the callers they selected which were even worse. An exercise in brainless analysis.

The Bills wee never going to draft McDuffie. He was known coming out as a slot corner in skill set which is what he is. The Bills had just signed their own slot corner, one of the best in the league, to a hefty long term deal. Honestly, I cannot understand why anyone continues to believe this fairly tale other than pushing a stale narrative.

Tyreek Hill is an ignorant POS, who happens to play for an organization led by other ignorant POS coaches and managers. Sooner than later he will be washed out of football and be left with nothing but his POS nature to sustain him through life.

Off Topic: Sabres rehire Lindy Ruff as Head Coach
FLFan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
No team wins 52 games “in spite of(sic)” their coach. That is just nonsense. -
Pegulas selling 25% of the Bills, per Tim Graham
FLFan replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
So I guess people thought that Terry was going to live forever and the Government will waive inheritance taxes for the Bills owners. This is the least surprising development this month with the Bills. When you have an asset that triples in value in a relatively short term, turning some of that appreciation into cash is certainly not unusual, especially when you have a near term need for $600 m in cash or so in addition to some estate planning to do. A minority owner at this point changes absolutely nothing with respect to the Bills long term prospects in WNY. In fact, the finances of this deal may well increase the chances that the Pegulas can keep control in the family for the long term. It seems that this is the intent. -
I hope so.

https://theathletic.com/5418352/2024/04/17/nfl-mock-draft-2024-full-seven-rounds-dane-brugler/?source=user_shared_article I was not sure where else to post this but mods please merge if appropriate. For those of you with Athletic access, Brugler’s 7 round mock draft posted today. Linked above. If you are not familiar with him, he publishes an excellent compendium and ranking of NFL draft prospects each year that can also be found on the Athletic. He has the Bills trading up with Jacksonville to 17 using their first this year, two fourths, and a second next year to take Brian Thomas. He has us with Cole Bishop, Safety in the second, and Javon Baker, WR in the third. This seems like an excellent result to me, but certainly interested in what the more knowledgeable draft gurus around here think. I would be thrilled with Thomas in particular. Bishop seems more of a box safety but does have some cover skills as well. Baker is a potential replacement to Gabe’s role on this team, but with more ability to get open in intermediate routes. Good YAC ability as well.

Trashing Buffalo and the Bills is a national pastime. This is nothing new.
-
The first explanation I have heard that actually makes sense.
-
No contest. The Bills should not be looking to trade assets plus significant committed cap for Aiyuk or any other established receiver. There is a substantial opportunity this year to get younger and better and cheaper at that spot
-
Shakir is a much more polished receiver than Foster ever was. He was essentially a one trick pony.

I had a different take on his on field demonstration after the KC game. I viewed it at the time as trying to draw attention to himself. Gabe was the potential hero of that game let’s not forget, not Diggs. That’s why he was demonstrating on the field. Me, me me.

I think it remains to be seen if it’s a poor plan. The stadium will not open for over two years. If I were going to bet, I would bet on the multi billionaire and the team he has assembled who have no doubt studied this to death and have done it before, not the opinion of a fan no matter how dispassionately considered. When that stadium opens all available PSLs will have been sold and I am sure Terry will be very pleased with the financial result.

It was great, until it wasn’t He did but his credibility is nil at this point.

Are we really going to miss any of the departed players?
FLFan replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The way the Athletic works is that they assign beat writers for specific teams that have broad enough interest. The Bills have a very good beat writer assigned, Joe Buscaglia. If you want a fair balanced overview of the Bills and their chances, and don't want to be triggered by opposing viewpoints, read his stuff. It’s not political bias, it’s sports.
