  1. Good thing Washington has no intention of trading him.
  2. Exactly - well said. I am sure some people will twist Kelly's comments to mean more than is meant, but it is a pretty accurate assessment so far. I am into patience at this point but expect to see significant improvement by mid-season.
  3. Fair enough. Sorry for the broad brush generalization, but much of what I have read the past couple of days has been mind numbing. I certainly do not fault the OL for all the problems, and EJ certainly has room to improve, but I do think the OL was the bigger problem on Saturday. Perhaps continuity, perhaps lack of talent, but I am hoping it is more the former and we will see more consistent play from the line in the coming weeks. That, more than anything, will help EJ improve.
  4. Wait for it, wait .....
  5. Your argument regarding Hopkins does not make sense. The guy was drafted to replace Lindell who clearly had outlived his usefulness. He did just that and looked great in the process. His injury changed everything, Carpenter has been great, and Hopkins could not regain the job. Hard to find fault with the decision to draft him or the decision to cut him loose now. They needed a kicker, he has great promise which he still may fulfill somewhere else if he can put his groin problems behind him. Move on.
  6. Sensible post but no surprise you are being mauled for it. Once the villagers with the pitchforks are out after a loss, all reason goes by the wayside.
  7. Great post. That is how I saw it but reality is lost in the post game hysteria around here. One small quibble: the pass did not bounce of Spillers hands - he caught it and fumbled. Clear possession. The offense clearly needs work but I do not blame the first half on EJ as most seem to do. Maybe it is just me, but I expect there will be inconsistencies and mistakes in his play in what amounts to the second half of his rookie year. If he can stay on the field and gain experience we should start to see more consistency. There are positive signs. We will know what we have by the end of the year. My biggest concern is the erratic play of the OL which is hopefully due to lack of continuity with all the position changes and will improve. If not, long year for everyone. I am anxious to see the entire offense, including Watkins and the real play book in Chicago.
  8. I think they were already intending to look around given that Lewis has dropped like a rock through the depth chart and right now Tuel is the best they have. They gave Dixon an audition last night over Lewis to see if he might be an option, but he was, well, Dennis Dixon. I am surprised, as I am sure the coaching staff is, by the regression Lewis has shown. I thought that last year he looked like a viable back up, but has been awful so far.
  9. Maybe, but he has not been healthy a full season yet. It sucks for him, but he is a bit of a china doll.
  10. No, it would not.
  11. Urinating in the sink is a time honored tradition.
  12. If the owners do not approve the selected candidate, yes, they can scuttle the process. I think this scenarios is highly unlikely.
  13. If everyone ignores him he may go away.
  14. It's not nice to make fun of those of us with severe paranoia as a result of either "Buffalo Loser Syndrome" or excessive use of weed. :-)
  15. You make a good point, but I will side with the Coach on this. This team has been too often guilty of accepting inferior results. That attitude is infectious and it shows in their play. I am glad he is not coddling these guys and accepting poor effort and excuses like "training camp has been hard. Poor me!" Too bad. Suck it up or get out. It is the right message I think. The last thing this teams needs is one of their best players, Hughes in this case, deciding to lead an insurrection. Nip it in the bud.
  16. This guy has been grinding his axe for a while. I do not take his opinions seriously. As for the seemingly low numbers, if true, actually pretty well played by TP. Highest non-binding bid but not insane. Apparently the guy from Forbes does not realize that in a process like this, the first non-binding bid will always be low. For one thing, at that point the bidders had not seen the actual financials. For another, you do not put your best offer on the table to start a negotiation. The previously reported $1.3 b bid never made sense to me. I still believe this will go for more than $1B.
  17. This process is actually happening quite quickly and not dragging on. My own estimate before it started was 18 months, which would not have been unusual in a situation involving an estate. The Trust clearly prioritized a rapid process and is executing. It is anything but "circus" like despite what you and that Forbes writer think. The only thing circus like is the involvement of Trump, who is a circus in his own right, and that idiot Bon Jovi and his Canadian mates. The trust and their advisors are operating a well controlled and business like process.
  18. If this gets any play, his broadcasting career is over.
  19. Good catch. I bet that is it.
  20. If I was Pettine I would be more concerned about how lost Manziel looked out there than his immature gesture. There is no way he is capable of starting right now. This should be an easy call for Pettine, but who knows how much pressure he is under to play the kid.
  21. He does not owe you anything. I am sure he has his reasons for responding the way he did. Lighten up.
  22. I think that is certainly a factor, along with Urbik having taken a significant step backward last year from which he does not appear to have recovered.
  23. Wait - there is still more training camp? I was under the impression that the season was over based on the doom and gloom over the Steelers game. That's a relief.
