What your comments and examples really illuminate is that after 5 games in the NFL it is way to early evaluate the the true value of this trade. Some will never be convinced it was worth it no matter what and you perhaps fit into that category. For me, it is looking better all the time and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do with a semi-competent QB. If Sammy continues on his current pace (75 receptions, 6 TDs, 900 yds) and the Bills end up drafting at 20 or below, it is a pretty good deal to me. I think he may actually surpass that now with Orton at QB. We will see. He is already the best WR on this team and it is not even close for second. By the way, even if you say "no offense", the use of the term "rose colored glasses" to describe a broad cross section of fans who happen to view things differently than you is kind of inherently offensive. Just saying. Go Bills.

Great. A patriots troll.

Yes, it does, but it sure makes kicking a 58 yard field goal easier!

This Sunday, against the New England Patriots....
FLFan replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One reason I am very encouraged for this game is the similarity between Buffalo's offensive design and talent and that of Kansas City, who just took the Pats apart. Some might say that the Pats just played a bad game, but it looked more to me like KC out classed them on talent of their offense to the Pats defense, and the design of the offense took advantage of the mismatches that existed to perfection. If Orton can operate as efficiently as Smith did in that game (and I certainly think he can), The Bills could dominate this game. Their front seven will dominate the other way, and if we can get Brady behind, it could be lights out. This is a game that Hacket should definitely de-emphasize the power formations, with two tights ends or a fullback. They need to spread the relatively weak NE front seven out and attack. Bubble screens, slants, and swing passes will be there and so will running lanes. The Bills have the speed to nail these guys. If they react to this, its down the seam. This is the game to be more aggressive - the Patriots can be had. -
Power rankings thread- post them here
FLFan replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats because Miami has nicer weather and hot girls. You think they actually put any real thought into this? Despite the clueless comment, the ranking is just about right. Can't be ahead of the Pats until they beat them. -
For what it is worth, I was watching NFL Live this afternoon and they were doing one of today's frequent Patriots/Brady ball washing sessions. Merril Hoge was making a point about how Brady and the Pats did such a great job of selling run fakes to open up the passing game, with the OL even "firing off the ball" to simulate run. The clip he showed had the center 5 yards down field blocking when the pass was thrown, while the LG was 2 to 3 yards downfield engaged in a block. I guess that is "firing off the ball", but the only problem is that is supposed to be a penalty I believe. Guess its easier to "sell the run" when your OL is engaging blitzing LBs 3-5 yards past the line of scrimmage. Am I mistaken about this being a penalty, or is it just not a penalty for the Patriots?

I do not read his columns because they are typically worthless and I think he is a childish turd. Happy to pile on the Sully bashing when I can though. You are right about being OK to question Wood's performance, but Sullivan does not add anything to the discussion. There are clearly many posters here who are more capable of evaluating OL play than he is, and I would rather hear from them. Wood was right to call him out as the coward he is.

Jimbo Fisher says "I told you so..."
FLFan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is and you should do that. -
Cleveland came back from 25 down on the road to win yesterday against the Titans. This will be an emotional and tough game. (Unless of course Hoyer gets hurt and they have to play JFF) I agree that the Bills are capable of winning any of these games, but lots can happen over the course of seven weeks.

I read multiple posts on this site last week that referred to the Bills as a "dumpster fire", "incompetent", and "dysfunctional" among like terms. Clearly, the Jets are the very definition of these terms. What a terrible team, with terrible leadership. Rex deserves to go, but their front office is completely incompetent.
-
Agreed. Also, after listening to both Orton's and Watkin's post game PCs, clearly an issue in the accuracy of it was the quick rush in his face. What is very promising is that they were on the same page that the ball would be going his way. Watkins was expecting the throw and was able to adjust. There is no way that play gets made with EJ right now. I also think that as Watkins and Orton are able to work with other going forward, the accuracy on a play like that will get better as well.
-
Ebron's unreliable hands were also on display. He has been a non-factor so far this year. I do like Benjamin and he would have been my pick if they stayed at 9, but Watkins looks to be a very special player.
-
I agree. Bradford has been spotty when he has been healthy, and betting on his ability to stay healthy would be a big risk.
-
I think this trade is looking better all the time. It is obviously a high price to pay, but I think Watkins is showing he is a unique talent. Moving up to take him will pay dividends for the Bills for a long time.

The title tricked me into reading this useless post. Back to enjoying a win based on dominating defense, timely offense, and superior depth of talent across the board by the Bills.
-
Let's hope so. A Cutler like performance would certainly help.
-
The secondary is going to have to play better than they have so far. They have been beaten deep and Stafford has a cannon for an arm. Possibly a break if Johnson is not fully himself. If they can keep the Detroit receivers in front of them and avoid the bombs, they have a good chance of staying with the Lions and winning the game. No fast scores - make them earn it.
-
I was going to say the same thing.
-
I would have liked to see Fitz stay, but remember, they did offer him a reduced contract to stay and he said no, ultimately playing for TN for the same reduced money. I understand where Fitz was coming from, but do not fault the Bills for not wanting to pay $7.5 m to Fitz either. In retrospect, perhaps they should have, but it seemed prudent to me at the time. As for Williams, I think he is a better option than Johnson, but I am at a loss to explain why he is sitting on the bench. Frankly, I think their best alignment would be with Williams on the outside and Woods in the slot as a base offense. Not sure why they are reluctant to do this. Lack of confidence in the QB? Perhaps.

It is entirely possible the Bills win all 4 of this games. The toughest one will be Detroit this week. I am very confident about the NE game and the Jets game. MN is a question mark to me but that game is also certainly winnable. My guess is they win 3/4. If they beat NE, they will control the Division at the halfway point. Elsewhere - the Jests lose 3 in a row coming into the Bills game. NE loses to Cinci and Buffalo. Miami loses 2 of next 3.
-
Really? They are not on the Jerry Springer show, they are part of a professional football team. What I want is for them to win. For that they need to develop team chemistry including trust for one another. It is the essence of a team sport. I could not care less what they really think, so long as they win.

A Good Sully Article...as rare as seeing a Unicorn.
FLFan replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I clicked on this today and was half through it before I realized it was Sullivan. I normally do not read his stuff at all anymore. He actually kept the snide, whiney crap that he passes off as intelligent comment to a minimum and made a couple of good points. -
Very impressive. this is obviously not his first rodeo. I m looking forward to seeing what he's got on Sunday. The veteran presence in the huddle and on the filed should help a lot.
-
Great job. The truth is finally out.
-
Exactly. Hacks like Rodak live for this. Throwing a teammate under the bus is not very professional. Perhaps some of the veterans will coach these guys up. They don't seem to realize EJ is one play away from being back under center.
