  1. That's not how you quantify it, Joe and you know it. Of course people move out. When you have a population of close to 14 million, that happens. Should he have said it? Probably not, it was a cheap shot but that doesn't mean it's not true. NYC is a mecca for culture, the arts, sports, night life. Very few cities in the history of mankind can compare to what NYC has to offer on a daily basis. I love WNY. But NYC has more opportunities to expand your mind, your soul and your bank account than nearly any other city on the planet. Saying that isn't true because people move out of NYC every day makes you look silly.
  2. I love hometown pride -- but let's not compare Buffalo (or Rochester where I'm from) to NYC. For good or bad, you'll lose every time. NYC is one of, if not the best, city in the world. Not just the state.
  3. Every race has been enslaved at one point or another since the beginning of time. It continues today.
  4. Absolutely. It's really the next evolution of strategy in the game. It's a way to be as disruptive as Russel without suffering the social backlash (because you're pitting people against each other without them knowing it). The trick though is that it requires gaining absolute trust VERY early in the game. I really think the only way to pull it off would be to do it in an all-star setting.
  5. I would wash out! lol. I love the social/strategy part of the game. I think I'd be pretty good at it. I love the challenges and think I could do well in those. But the actual "surviving" part? I'm not a big camper. I'm a wuss.
  6. That's awesome! The other tactic I'd love to see two people try, though this one would be admittedly tricky, would be to have two people very early (Day 2 or 3) form a secret alliance where they divide the tribe publicly and behind the scenes run the show. Wow ... that was a crappy explanation. Let's try that again. Imagine Russel and Rob. Day One they form an alliance where they divide up the tribe. Each taking 4 people. Then at camp they never appear to be working together. In fact, they appear to be two power players trying to get an edge over the other. If they could keep that perception up until the merge (with both players forfeiting people on their "alliance") then it'd be a GREAT way to divide and conquer the other tribe. People are always looking for someone to flip after the merge. This would be like implanting a double agent and blowing up the new tribe.
  7. I still have an admittedly illogical double standard when it comes to these things. I really don't think an older female teacher sleeping with a teenage boy does as much psychological damage (if it does any at all) as a male teacher sleeping with a teenage girl. Got into a big argument the other day about that very thing and I was surprised to find myself in the minority. Oh well. These threads always crack me up.
  8. Sorry, let me clarify. I don't think the Wonderlic makes or breaks anyone. But for the fans that aren't sitting in these interviews and doing background checks (ugh), it's one of our windows into the process. A QB who scores a 9 on a Wonderlic probably isn't giving the most compelling interviews and thus probably isn't thought of as highly as someone who scores in the 40s. At least that's the assumption I'm making. It's all a guess though. No one but the people doing the work really know how highly a guy is thought of. But I'd assume with his physical talent and a decent Wonderlic, Cam is probably doing pretty well during the interviews (breaking down football stuff) and thus is probably a legit possibility for Carolina.
  9. Why do you say that? Both Hansen and Schobel were INCREDIBLY skilled and talented players.
  10. When some on this board (and in the media) were expecting him to be in the low teens or even single digits like Young, then yes, it is. Gabbert's score was phenomenal. Considering McElroy's score was almost perfect, Gabbert looks pretty brainy.
  11. China is the only season I missed! Damn, you mean someone already did that? I know that players have given people fake idols before, but have they actually hid them in the location where the real idol was and let someone else find it? 'Cause that's the way to really f&*k with people without looking like a Russel.
  12. Still not following your logic. What does a player taking an acting gig on a show that has nothing to do with the NFL have to do with work stoppage?
  13. Slan!
  14. Which is why Rob's move to switch the clues was kind of brilliant. He doesn't want to tip his hand (even to his own alliance) that he has the idol. So, keep giving them vague clues rather than the more obvious ones. Of course, one tactic I'd love to see is for someone to find the idol early, keep it a secret, make a FAKE idol and hide it where the clues lead so that when someone finds it, they think it's real. Hell, you could even find it FOR your tribe, give it to someone (publicly) and reap the rewards of being a hero. Then, when the person plays it and it doesn't work, plead ignorance. We've seen fake idols before, but those were designed to project an image of power. I'd love to see someone take if further ... it could be powerful if you can keep your hands clean during the fallout. But that's next level thinking (also it's not necessary for Rob's game) and would take a big set of coconuts to execute.
  15. "Talent": The most dangerous word in sports. Maybe in life.
  16. So did Newton. I'm thinking he'll go 1 now.
  17. Does anyone have verification about trading future picks without a CBA in place? I've heard various sources report both that you CAN trade future picks without a CBA and that you CAN'T trade future picks. So I really don't know what's accurate. Without getting a 1st rounder next year, there's no scenario worth trading down for in my opinion. You cannot pass up on an elite prospect without getting a (high) first rounder in compensation next season. It's settling for mediocrity.
  18. I've watched this a dozen times over the past few days, it's still funny. Love the last one where the kid looks like he is going to fall out of his seat!
  19. Not sure how you got there from what I posted ... No one in the NFLPA is asking the owners to share the revenue they generate from booking a concert in the off season.
  20. That's an awfully big assumption you're making. Perhaps you're not familiar with the history of the US Judiciary system ... If I were an owner right now, I'd be praying that a compromise is reached before the courts have a chance to interfere with how I run my business.
  21. Why? Just because someone made a stupid comment it doesn't change the fundamental issues in play. There are idiots on both sides of this. But the issues are still the issues.
