  1. ... that perspective is why the Ravens just absolutely robbed the Bills and made Nix look like a fool. Again.
  2. Since there's no reason to dump him for salary cap, since there's no reason to dump him to help the offense, then you hold on to him until a contender loses a key WR to injury or you wait until the draft and move him for a higher pick. It's not rocket surgery. Trading him now makes zero sense. You can get more from him later.
  3. The problem isn't that they traded Evans. It's HOW they did it. They traded him at a point in time where they had absolutely no leverage. Just like they did with Lynch. They sold low. This front office is beyond inept. The Spiller pick, the failure to move Lynch during the draft. The decision to move Lee now ... It all adds up to the same thing: Nix and company are out of their element. ...or, they had nothing to do with it and it's all on Ralph. Either way moves like this is why the Bills have been one of the worst run teams in professional sports for over a decade.
  4. We'll find out soon enough. But I suspect you'll be reconsidering this statement. Lee Evans not only worked hard, was a team guy, a leader, but he forced defenses to respect him even though Buffalo hasn't had anything above a JV QB for his entire career here. If I'm Fitz, I'm quite upset by this move.
  5. Yeah. For Baltimore.
  6. See it with no expectations. It's worth a viewing. I had no interest in seeing it as well, was dragged to it and wound up digging it.
  7. That wasn't the premise of my post at all. If you read it closely, I'm not bashing people who are pessimists about the current state of the Bills. Heck, most people on here know I've sided more with that camp than the optimistic ones lately. The point of the post is that it's pre-season. This is the time to forget about the negatives because there aren't any yet. Everyone is perfect. Everyone is 0-0. And, for better or worse, this is the team that the Bills will be sending onto the field every Sunday in 2011. There's a time to question draft picks, free agent signings, coaches, GMs, owners ... questioning those things does not make you any less of a fan. Not at all. Now is just not the time for that. It's time to take a brief respite from keeping it real and allow yourself to root for your team the way you did when you were 8. Passionately and without reservations. What I'm suggesting is that there is a window at the start of every season where you can honestly embrace the team for what they are right this very moment. There's ALWAYS a team that comes out of nowhere and turns heads in the NFL. It happens every single year. To say that it won't be the Bills this year is fine -- it just seems like wasted energy at THIS point in the season. Why kick your own team for no reason when they haven't played a single down yet? It not only seems like a miserable way to go through life as a fan, but it's just silly. No one knows what's going to happen. No one knows who is going to break out or break down. So why not embrace the "fan" part of being a Bills fan and allow yourself to dream of a winning season, a playoff birth, or, dare I say it, a super bowl win? What's the harm? It's August. There will be PLENTY of time for reality and "realism" come October, November and December.
  8. At the start of the season everyone is 0-0. Anything can happen. That's why you watch the games, right? Let's put it another way. This is the one time of year you get to be an honest to God fan again. A real fan. Like back in the days before internet message boards turned fandom into some weird kind of pissing contest between fans of the same team. It's the one time of year where you can have real hope and not be wrong. Hell, you shouldn't even worry about right and wrong. This time of year is about loving the team like you did when you were a kid. Before you knew about the business side of the sport. Before it became cooler to be "right" on a message board than it was to support your team. This is the time of year to forget about who we should have drafted or who we should have signed and embrace the team for who they are. Because in the end, that's all we got for this season. This is the time of year to love your team unabashedly and without exception. Because this is the time of year the team is perfect. 0-0. And if you are a pessimist by nature (and after the past decade, who could blame you) and assume the Bills are going to be miserable yet again, do everyone a favor and just keep quiet. Just for now. Just for this magical part of the season. Try tapping into your inner fan. It's there somewhere, lurking -- otherwise you wouldn't even be on this board. Allow yourself to billieve -- just for a little while. What's the harm in a little hope? After all, you know you'll only have to wait a few weeks into the season to see the Bills fall apart, right? Then you can start running your mouth about how you knew this would happen. You'll still have plenty of time to prove to the internet how smart you are and how dumb all the fans with hope are. Until then ... try being a fan. That's my hope at least.
  9. I saw it on a normal screen -- and it was still fantastic. I'm over the 3D thing. I think some of the sequences would look cool in 3D (they gave me vertigo in 2D so I imagine that's even more so in 3D). But that's me. I think you'll dig either way you see it.
  10. Just speculating of course, but it's probably a combination of not wanting to reveal too much story in season one and shooting much of it before they got an order for the second season. I agree though. I watched the entire season ... hung in there through the first four episodes (during which I could have easily dropped out at any point) and then got sucked in by the hints of good sci-fi/alien stuff -- only to be disappointed with a lame finale which centered more around a pill addiction rather than the fact that two divisions of human resistance have been wiped out. The ending with getting on the ship was kind of cool for me -- but I would have wanted to keep the aliens more mysterious for longer. They did such a good job of hiding the tall aliens too ...
  11. Why? So we can waste 2 hours of our life listening to horrible dialogue, shoddy storytelling and an absolute waste of a great concept? Not that I am bitter or anything;)
  12. Surprisingly I have to agree. Saw it tonight as well, it's a lot of fun. The best of the tentpoles this year for me. Though Crazy Stupid Love is my favorite of the summer.
  13. Stay at the Delmonte in Pittsford. Downtown is super close, 590 is right down Monroe. And the place is awesome.
  14. Thanks for this. Hadn't thought much about that last part before. It's an interesting angle and does make sense. I still don't really have a problem with him speaking his mind so long as he plays hard every down (which he does). But then again, I don't ever follow twitter so I don't really know how out of control he is on there. But your other points are right on.
  15. Never understood why Donte gets so much hate on this board. I mean, he had absolutely no control over the fact the Bills reached for him at the 8 spot. None. It's just funny to me because if the Bills had taken him in Round 2, everyone would probably love him here. He plays hard. Speaks his mind. And is a solid starting safety in the NFL. Is he spectacular? Nope. But it's not his fault he's not Ed Reed. Dude plays his heart out every Sunday -- this despite the fact he has been stuck on a team that has been horrible for his entire career. Blame the regime that picked him so high, not the player. It's just funny that people get so heated over him. Like this post! I'm not even a huge Donte fan yet I'm taking the time to post about it. It's just a weird psychological thing for Bills fans (or maybe it's not unique to Buffalo and rather it's just a sports thing). I'm always fascinated by it.
  16. What the hell is the point of having a guy like Aquaman around if he can't help us out with this? I be this guy knows how to get to the bottom of this mystery. He looks like he knows how to get things done.
  17. BATTLESHIP ... the sequel.
  18. How much more proof do you need?!
  19. Lots of sources reporting on it ... More And more ...
  20. I couldn't agree more. This is a no brainer type move. Crowder would be a temporary upgrade until they can either draft his replacement or find a better one. He's better than Torbor -- sure he'd be more expensive but they have the room to make it happen without killing themselves if they cut him next year. Are they even rumored to be looking at him? I haven't been keeping up with the rumor mill.
  21. What did you do to his wife?! WHAT DID YOU DO?!
  22. Other than my man love for NPH -- no.
  23. ARGH! That's TWO pitches gone in the same DAY! you guys!
  24. STOP STEALING MY PITCHES! I just walked into Warner Brother's and pitched that VERY idea. They told me they'd be in touch. I have been waiting by the phone ever since. Waiting ... waiting ... waiting ....
