  1. Actually, both.
  2. Nice try. No one is trying to use Eli's success to condemn Fitz. CBiscuit was using Eli's success to absolve Fitz. Everyone else was merely pointing out it makes no sense to compare Fitz to Eli because Eli is an elite QB and Fitz is not. And comparing Fitz to Eli OR the Bills to the Giants in any meaningful way is stupid. What is the point you're really trying to make? You're trying to say blaming Fitz is stupid because Eli has a good a defense? First off, who's blaming Fitz? Even the most anti-Fitz folks on here don't isolate Fitz as the reason the Bills collapsed. So what's your point? What are you really trying to say? That the Bills don't have enough talent? Or, are you just trying to defend Fitz from some perceived slight? Seriously, which is it? The problem with the Bills isn't Ryan Fitzpatrick. The problem with the Bills is they do not have enough talent on their roster to compete with the top teams in the NFL. If you compare the Bills position by position to other teams in the league it's comical. The Bills need more talent at nearly every position on the roster -- whether it's depth or starters -- before they will ever get off the basement floor. The question should be, will they get it?
  3. Looking at the big picture is always important. And if you look at the big picture of this franchise over the last 12 years suddenly 2011 seems less like an anomaly and more like business as usual. This team has lacked talent and depth for over a decade at every position but for RB. Things haven't changed and the Bills will continue to be irrelevant until they do. Fitz isn't the problem or the solution. Which is the point most are making. But comparing him in any meaningful way to Eli is just idiocy at it's finest.
  4. I love it when you drink and post. Cheers!
  5. You mean you finally washed that old tube sock?
  6. It's not "my" point. It's a factual statement. Often times on here people, myself included, portray their opinion as fact, but in this case it's actually a fact. Eli Manning is an elite QB. There isn't a GM, Coach, player or analyst in the NFL that would say Eli is NOT an elite QB. Read above -- it's not a one year thing with Eli. He has been in the conversation as being elite for a long time. This year cemented it. If you actually paid attention to things happening outside of Buffalo when it comes to the NFL, you'd understand that fact. Eli is not a one hit wonder and he is not the product of a system. He was brilliant in college, he's brilliant in the NFL -- he just has the personality of a wet paper bag. And he pissed a lot of people off for demanding a trade as a rookie. But to say he's not an elite QB or to pretend it was one hot streak is just ignorant. It's not even something you can debate. Go look at his stats and then count his rings. Yup. That's it. That's the only reason why Fitz is not Eli. The WRs. QBs make their WRs look good. It's a fact. A WR can make his QB look good too, but more often than not it's the other way around. And in this case, Fitz should get a lot of credit for how good he made the Buffalo WR corps look at times. But to think Eli wouldn't be able to do the same if he were here (and produce better results) is just silly to debate. You're wrong, you know you're wrong, but you want to believe you're right. So it's cool. I know it's low hanging fruit, but in most places, 4 comes after 3. Not 3 again. But that miscalculation might help explain why you're confused when you are trying to compare Eli and Fitz's numbers. Look, this is what drives people nuts on this board. You're arguing 2 different things within your own point and can't understand why people are latching on to one thing. On one hand you're trying to say it's the Bills' front office fault for Fitz sucking because they are not surrounding him with talent. On that point, you and I very much agree. The Bills front office is miserable, and under Ralph's leadership they have produced one of the league's worst products for 12 years and counting. This point you're making is correct. The Bills will never win a super bowl without more talent on the roster. But you're mistaken if you think it's as easy as "keep SJ, adding another legit WR, follow the Giants methods on defense" Regardless of how crazy that last part of your sentence makes you sound (the giant's methods on defense????), the rest of what you say is not going to happen because of the problems with ownership. This team doesn't have a plan. It doesn't have a direction. It's already changed directions midstream with this GM/Coaching tandem, it'll do so again. But instead of focusing on this one point (which is correct), you mix it all up by trying to say Eli isn't elite. That makes everyone else think you're crazy and a lunatic who yells at the grass for growing too loudly and dismiss the rest of your thesis which is actually sound.
  7. People used to question it. They can't anymore. Eli has done nothing but progress each and every year he's been in the league. Very few QBs come in and are instantly elite. They either grow into it or they don't. No one crowned Eli elite after his first ring -- because he wasn't. He was clutch (he's the best QB in the 4th quarter in the NFL and has been for 3 years and counting) but he wasn't elite. Still it was argued whether or not he would BECOME elite. But in '08 he got better. Again in '09 and '10 and '11. Now there's no debate. The dude is elite. To say he's not is not an opinion you can debate. It's just a fact that Eli Manning is an elite QB in the NFL. You can't make the argument Fitz is on the same path as Manning. You can't compare him in ANY meaningful way to Fitz. And to argue you can is insanity. It's homerism at it's worst. Thus, you will be called out for being a fool if you attempt to do so. It is my duty. You don't even believe what you're trying to defend, yet you keep defending it! It's crazy! CBiscut at least has an excuse, he believes what he's saying. Fitz has had one average year as a starter in the NFL after being a backup for his first six years. If you want to compare first year starter stats you'd see that Manning in his first year as a starter had just as many TDs, less INTs, near identical numbers in yardage and a lower QB rating. So maybe 6 years from now Fitz will be just as good as Eli is now ... at 36 years old. Awesome. Every win is a team win. But QB is the most important position in all of sports. They impact the game more than any other position on EITHER side of the ball. The Giants don't win either Super Bowl without Eli Manning -- and if you asked any player on that defense, they'd tell you the same thing.
  8. Except for the fact that every other part of your comparison is completely foolish. Last year, despite throwing 25 INTs, Eli still lead his team to 10 wins in a much more competitive NFC East, threw for over 4,000 yards, STILL had more TDs to INTs (31 -- a number Fitz has NEVER hit in his life), threw for near 63% completion (for the past 4 years he's been over 60% something Fitz has only done once), he also had a higher average and less sacks. But you're right. It's the same thing as what Fitz did. Give me a break. You are INSANE.
  9. Okay, so you haven't been paying attention. Thanks for supporting the argument. Do not compare Fitz to Manning. It makes you look silly.
  10. This sounds like some network execs I've encountered...
  11. Anyone who thinks Eli isn't an elite QB hasn't been paying attention to the NFL. The dude is the absolute best right now in the league in the 4th Quarter (and an argument can be made he's always been clutch in the 4th quarter, way more than his brother). Eli has 2 rings and the chance to get a few more before he retires. He's going to be a first ballot hall of famer when he's done. If you had put Fitz on the Giants and Eli on the Bills at the start of this past season, the Bills don't win the Super Bowl. But they make the playoffs. Fitz on the Giants doesn't win the Super Bowl. Sorry. You're a fool if you think Fitz and Eli can be compared.
  12. I only know what I've read, but my understanding was it was originally a straight prequel to Alien. And then they hired Damon Lindelof to do a rewrite and he apparently took a so-so script and made it awesome. So awesome and so new that it bore little resemblance to the original concept. I'm sure there's connections because it's the same "universe" and I'm sure Damon threw in his own shout outs to Alien because I'd imagine he's a huge fan. So most likely there will be some Alien stuff in there for people to find/theorize about, but hopefully it's not overt to the point of feeling like a prequel. Either way, the film has a lot of good early buzz on the street around town here. I'm choosing to believe it's going to rock. But I'm just a huge fan of the people behind it so I'd go see it regardless.
  13. UPDATE! Egyptian Reptile Alien lives on the back of Obama's Skull! Maybe this guy knows something about what's on the ocean floor.
  14. "This is our tax dollars at work"
  15. Don't think of it as an Alien movie ... Think about it this way-- Scott has only done two sic-fi movies in his career: Alien and Bladerunner. Both movies reinvented the genre and remain masterpieces. THATS why I am excited to see what Sir Ridley does with his third visit to the genre he saved.
  16. It's funny, I had a project going around town that was often compared to Awake -- not in terms of story so much as the coolness factor. I heard this so often that eventually it started to piss me off in the competitive kind of way. So I got my hands on it and read it, convinced when I did I'd see that, while cool, Awake would be nowhere near as good as mine. And dammit if it wasn't really !@#$ing awesome. I am excited to check out the pilot, I hope the show does well. Network TV needs it to.
  17. You picked my absolute favorite guy! I had to watch all three seasons pretty much back to back, and what cracked me up more than anything was how that guy's hair changes over the three seasons. While most people get more "hollywood" with their hair and appearance as they progress from season 1 to 3, this guy went the other route. He let his hair go CRAZIER because he KNEW he was on TV. And everything he says is the most dramatic and earth shattering conclusion in the history of the spoken word.
  18. I absolutely agree with you. As much as I rag on this front office, I don't think they're trying to lose on purpose. I also believe Stevie is a #2 WR in this league and not a #1 -- and I think the front office knows that too. Still, from a pure PR stand point I don't think they can let Stevie go unless another team bids an incredulous amount (I'd say the Bills would be nuts for spending over 8 mill a year on him, but I don't think he'd get that on the open market). Letting Stevie go would be creating another hole in an already suspect unit on a team with too many suspect units to begin with. I hope, and I expect, Stevie to be resigned by the Bills.
  19. Glad I'm not alone in digging this flick. I'm a huge fan of the writer (Max Landis) who is the newest wunderkind of the screenwriting ranks but even so I wasn't sure what to expect from the movie. It's just nice to see something fresh that actually lived up to the billing.
  20. I'm still laughing. I don't know which is my favorite part -- it's either when he loses his train of thought, remembers the paper in his hand, looks at it and starts yelling "PAY you for chores?!" even though he already finished that thought OR it's the "that one's from your mother". This guy might have made the perfect viral video.
  21. I find every element of this hilarious. Which means I'm going to hell.
  22. One. But it's too morbid to say aloud.
  23. Gisel and Brady split the sheets?!?!?
  24. Thought I'd share
  25. Don't worry. Nix (or Whaley if/when Nix retires) and Chan are here until Ralph passes away. They won't rebuild again. This is who we're left with until there's new ownership.
