  1. So to recap ... today we have the Ruskies planning to destroy the world by turning us all into Zombies and now the Google Glasses. A device which allows hipsters to take over the world in the most dangerous way possible. Can't wait for the end of the world.
  2. "I don't sell crack, I'm a prostitute!"
  3. Hey, at least we've been good at something over the past 12 years!
  4. If that were to happen Nix will have spent 2 top 10 picks on RBs in just 3 drafts. Can someone say NFL Executive of the Year?!
  5. You can never have enough running backs. Especially in the first round.
  6. That's nitpicking his point, don't you think?
  7. All of the movies you love, were written and directed by people who smoke a LOT of weed. There's more of a chance of those movies ruining your "mental state" than there is of green doing that to you.
  8. Just imagine the flexibility this would give Gailey! Split Spiller out wide, line TR and FJ up in the backfield and run all sorts of plays where TR hands off to FJ who then throws to Spiller who then hands it BACK to TR on a reverse for an untouched score! MegaMind would be in HEAVEN. Fitz would never have a chance to throw one of his ill timed INTs. And, best yet, TR's presence would completely solve the massive holes at WR, LT and LB on this team! I love this plan! I'm IN!
  9. Tim Leiweke (Anschutz's number one guy at AEG) was on ESPN Radio here in LA (if anyone's interested, here's the link to their page where you can find the interview streaming) to talk about the downtown stadium. Tim answered a ton of questions and insists that by the end of 2012 AEG will be ready to "push dirt" on Farmer's Field. At that point the negotiation between AEG and the NFL will really begin, a negotiation he believes will end up working out in the end. He also touched on which teams are candidates to move but was quick to point that the NFL prohibits teams from talking about moving until after the 2012 season has been completed. Teams cannot file a move request until after the 2012 season. Tim said 2013 would be the earliest a team could move but was quick to admit that would be extremely quick. And even if a team did move in 2013 the stadium won't be ready for football until 2017. Here's the highlights of what he touched on: The Yahoo Report: -Said the article's contention that the deal with the NFL is dead is simply not true. Leiweke said negotiations with the league are ongoing and both sides are posturing. The NFL wants the best deal they can get (as Tim admits they should) and so does AEG. Tim in fact almost quoted Kelly's point when he pointed out that the numbers don't add up for ANY stadium builder unless they're given a portion of the team OR rely upon tax payer subsidies. And since Farmer's field is 100% privately funded, they need to generate equity in the team or teams that lease the stadium. -Tim feels that there is a deal to be made where they do own part of the team without ruining the profit margins of the majority owner or the league itself. He referenced AEG's Staple's Center deal where they are now 30% owners of the Lakers and Clippers. Both teams were one of only 3 NBA teams that showed a profit before the NBA lockout this past off season. -Tim also pointed out that Anschutz has never said he's not willing to buy an entire team, he is willing (and capable) to do that if needs be. Will the NFL Last in LA?: -According to the proposal, AEG will not be allowed to start construction on the stadium unless they have a lease that covers the total amount of the bonds on both the stadium and convention center. Meaning, there's no stadium unless a team is willing to commit to a 20 year lease -- something he once again feels will not be an issue. Which Team or Teams will Move?: -Again, he said he can't talk about it and no one in the NFL can even consider it until after 2012. But he said it doesn't take much for fans to figure out which team's leases are up in 2012 to see who the likely targets are. The Environmental Impact Report: -This still hasn't been published but it's 10,000 pages long and cost over 27 million dollars to produce. Tim used this to make the point to refute the Yahoo article specifically by saying that no one would spend 27 million dollars on an Environmental Report if the project is already dead or has no chance to happen. -He further stated that AEG has never announced plans to build something that they never actually wound up building. They have more success than any other company in regards to building stadiums and while they feel LA is their biggest dream yet, it's closer than ever to being a reality. When the subject turned to which teams would move, there were no answers. He flat out said any talk of any team coming to LA is tabled until the end of the 2012 season. March, 2013 will be the league meeting that will decide which teams can move. Which teams can move at the end of 2012?
  10. He was talking about calling the hospital/doctor to find out the results. At least that's how I took it.
  11. It's difficult to have a conversation when you keep changing the subject or when you don't read the post. You asked this: To which I responded: (Decastro is not what this conversation is about, it's about whether drafting a running back, ANY running back but in this case Richardson, in the first round would make the Bills better.) You then wrote: Which is where this response comes in: So, again, in response to the original question you asked: Would the Bills be automatically better if they drafted Richardson? The answer is an unequivocal NO. This is not a matter of opinion. It's a fact. Fact backed by data, statistics and general understanding of the modern game. Short of Spiller and Jackson retiring before the draft there is absolutely no scenario in which the Bills should even consider taking Richardson in the first round.
  12. Explain how they would be better? I've shown that having the best RBs in the league doesn't equate to super bowl wins, nor does having the most team rushing yards. So how does adding a RB to a roster already containing the best RB in the league last year and a first round pick waiting in the wings make the Bills ANY better in 2012? ... Right, it doesn't. Fred Jackson was the best player on the field for the Bills in 11. Spiller showed flashes of being explosive in limited work. Both backs can catch, Fred is a better blocker than Richardson by a MILE on pass protection, so what does Richardson add that the bills are missing? ....oh wait, nothing. Taking a RB, ANY RB no matterbhow good he is, won't make the Bills better in the only column that counts: wins. Especially when there are actual holes that need to be addressed on the roster. We currently do not have any starting LTs on the roster, nor do we have much at WR or LB or back up QB. Your suggested method for building the team has been tried by the Bills over and over again. They have spent more first round picks on RBs over the past 15 years than ANY OTHER FRANCHISE and yet they haven't even sniffed the playoffs in that time. History shows youre wrong. The stats show your wrong.
  13. How is it flimsy and wrong? If the theory is that RBs are as important today as they once were, then why hasn't AP's presence in Minny made them a perennial contender? Truth is, it hasn't. Minny wasn't considered a true contender until they got a retread, washed up QB to take over the reigns. Favre added 5 wins to their season. That's HUGE. Take AP off that team, they win the same amount of games -- maybe one less. The league has changed. You do not build your team around RBs anymore. In fact, name a top 5 RB in the league that has won a ring in the past few years ... you can't. In fact, no team that has led the league in rushing has won a super bowl in OVER A DECADE. 2011 Individual Rushing Leaders MJD Ray Rice Michael Turner McCoy Foster (3 out of 5 made the playoffs, 0 made the Super Bowl) 2010 Foster Charles Turner C.Johnson MJD (2 out of the 5 made the playoffs, neither of those won a playoff game) 2009 C.Johnson S. Jackson Jones MJD AP (2 out of 5 made the playoffs, neither made the Super Bowl) 2008 AP Turner Williams Portis Jones (1 out of 5 made the playoffs. No one made the Super Bowl) And it doesn't improve if you look at team rushing numbers: 2011 Team Rushing Leaders SF Baltimore Miami Houston Chicago (3 out of 5 made the playoffs. None made the Super Bowl) 2010 Steelers Chicago Jets Chargers Ravens (4 out of 5 made the playoffs. Steelers made the Super Bowl and lost) 2009 GB Minny Steelers Dallas Ravens (4 out of 5 made the playoffs. None made the Super Bowl) 2008 Minny Steelers Ravens Eagles Chicago (1 out of 5 made the playoffs. No one made the Super Bowl) So, you do the math. If having the best rushing attack in the league hasn't led ANY TEAM to a Championship in over a decade, why would you advocate using another first round pick on a RB when the BEST CASE SCENARIO still doesn't get you any closer to a championship? Anyone who thinks a RB is worth a first round pick hasn't been paying attention to the changes in the NFL over the past decade. Times have changed. How you build your team has changed. And, if you think this isn't true just look at how many first round RBs have been picked over the past decade ... 2011: 1 (#28) 2010: 3 (#9, #12, #30) 2009: 3 (#12, #27, #31) 2008: 5 (#4, #13, #22, #23, #24) 2007: 2 (#7, #12) 2006: 4 (#2, #21, #27, #30) 2005: 3 (#2, #4, #5) 2004: 3 (#24, #26, #30) 2003: 2 (#23, #27) 2002: 2 (#16, #18) -28 first round picks have been spent on RBs the past in 10 years. That accounts for 8% of first round picks used on RBs. In comparison, in the previous ten drafts 10% of first round picks were spent on RBs (31 of 310 picks). -Of those 28 first round RBs, only Reggie Bush, Joseph Addai and *Rashard Mendenhall have rings. (*Mendhall was on IR for the Super Bowl run.) -22 different teams used those 28 first round picks on round RBs. Only the Saints, Colts, Lions, Panthers and Bills used more than one first round pick on a RB. The Bills were the only team to use THREE first round picks on Running Backs (Willis, Lynch, Spiller). *NO (2), SD, DET (2), DEN, IND (2), ARZ, OK, CAR (2), DAL, PIT, TEN, MIN, NE, MIA, CHI, TB, ST, CIN, KC, CLE, ATL BUF (3) -11 of those 28 RBs picked were selected #15 or higher. The highest pick being Reggie Bush and Ronnie Brown, both selected at #2 overall in '05 and '06. -2 of those 11 backs were picked by the Buffalo Bills (Spiller and Lynch).
  14. At least I'll get to tailgate still!
  15. Dammit. I'm already on the list for seasons at Farmer's Field.
  16. RBs do NOT equate to more wins in the modern NFL. That's just a fact in the modern NFL. Richardson may be an all world talent, but even if he's a HUGE upgrade to Spiller and Jackson (and that's debatable) it will NOT amount to a significant jump in the win total. If it did, then you'd see Adrian Peterson with multiple rings already. But instead he has none. And in fact the Vikings had to lure Brett Favre out of retirement to give them enough ammunition to make a run to the NFC title game. Every other NFL team knows this, which is why RBs are no longer prized in the top portion of the draft.
