What's your go-to joke?
CosmicBills replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in Off the Wall Archives
So many to choose from, and some great ones already in this thread. A guy walks into a bar and notices a monkey in a cage behind the bar. The guy asks the bartender, "what's up with the monkey?" "Forget about it. Want a drink?" The guy does. A few rounds later he asks the bartender, "what's up with the monkey?" "Forget about it. Want a drink?" The guy does. Closing time comes and curiosity is eating the guy up. "Come on, tell me the deal with the monkey". The bartender relents, "Fine." The bartender grabs a baseball bat and opens the cage. He promptly THUMPS the monkey on the head and the monkey instantly pulls down the bartender's pants and starts giving him head. The guy, watching in awe goes, "Wow! That's awesome!" The bartender asks, "You want to give it a try?" The guy goes, "Sure. Just don't hit me on the head so hard." -
You're mistaken. Piracy is not a threat to a movie like the Avengers for numerous reasons. First, it's designed to be seen on the big screen, so even if you have the option to see it illegally, most would prefer to see it on the big screen as the good lord intended. Second, they released it in Europe almost 3 weeks early, cutting a huge chunk of the piracy market out of the picture early. This has become the standard for opening big movies now: Europe and Asia first, the US second. The threat of piracy isn't found in threatening the profitability of giant tent-pole event movies like the Avengers. Instead it threatens diversity in the cinema. It's the 20 million and under movies that get hurt the most which makes studio's and exhibitors less inclined to release these sorts of films. Classic films without a built in audience wouldn't get a release today because of Piracy, films like The Godfather (I and II), Mean Streets, Midnight Cowboy, Alien, etc. etc. So you can keep acting like pirating movies doesn't hurt anyone, but it does. It's forcing Hollywood to take less risks, make fewer movies and bloat the marketplace with utter shite. Sure, occasionally one of the big tent-poles does it right but for every Dark Knight and Avengers you have 20 Transformer 3s and Battleships.

BILLS @ JETS Early Predictions
CosmicBills replied to Frostbelt City's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would they? They are returning pretty much every skill position player. The Bills came out fast last year without the benefit of OTAs or off season work. Now with a year playing together and two years in the system for most of them, I expect the offense to come out sharp provided they come out of camp healthy. As for the Jets game. F*C& the Jests. Bills win in a laugher 37-17. -
Happy Happy, Fezster!

Would you trade Fitz for ....

Again, the Marino thing was a joke. I know I'm not funny, but I didn't think I was so obtuse. -

To be fair ... Fitz's winning percentage is 35%. So technically, he is a proven loser. Not that facts ever matter. The Dan Marino "can't read" is in reference to a previous thread from years ago about Marino failing the wonderlick. And he's a Dolphin so his intelligence as joke fodder is always fair game. Key word being joke. The point wasn't that you don't have to be bright to play QB successfully in the NFL but rather that you don't have to be "brilliant". As for the rest of your post I get it. You only want to look at the numbers you want to look at. That's cool. Don't get me wrong, I'm not rooting against Fitz. I like watching him play because he's fearless. But you can look at last year's drop off one of two ways: 1. He simply regressed back to his mean. If you look at his career numbers, he pretty much matched them during the slide. It wasn't so much he was playing badly (for Fitz) but more that he was just wasn't playing lights-out like he was in the first 7. 2. Injuries caused the drop off. To Fitz and the rest of the roster. Hard to play well with a MASH unit in front of you. We'll find out this year which it was. -

That's why you see so many Rhode Scholars in the Hall of Fame, right? Dan Marino can barely read but if it they were the same age I'd take him over Fitz in a heartbeat. Gimme a break. Look at the man's career numbers for what they show, not what you want to see. He hasn't had success yet. He hasn't reached the playoffs yet. He has only completed over 60% of his passes in one season out of 3 as a starting NFL QB. -
As he should be. Truth is, they both waited too long and the luster will be gone by the time they do get in the ring. Mayweather will demolish Paquaio. It would have been a better fight 18 months ago. But 18 months from now? Forget about it. They're both to blame. There's never been two fighters in the same weight class that have ducked each other like this. They're both pussies.

From your lips to God's ears, right? This team has taken a dramatic step in the right direction with this off season. The defensive line, on paper, is the best d-line this franchise has ever had and one of, if not THE, best d-line in the NFL today. That will make the entire defense better, the secondary better and should also cover up for any mistakes the offense makes -- unlike last year. This team is playoff caliber. And Fitz is a huge part of that. I hope he steps up and shuts me up this year. He's a great leader, a nice guy, and plays with a ton of heart. The dude wants to win and the Bills need him to step up in a big way in 2012. But if he doesn't ... well, there's no room for sentimentality in professional sports. -

Your definition of "moderate success as an NFL starter" is a career record of 18 wins 32 loses and 1 tie in 51 games as a starting QB (that's 3.25 seasons)? That's a winning percentage of 35% with zero playoff births, a sub 60% completion percentage and a career TD to INT ratio of nearly 1:1. That qualifies as moderate success? God, you truly ARE a Bills fan. I get it. Fitz is the starting QB for the Bills this season and he deserves to be. But let's call a turd a turd. So far, his career hasn't been in any way shape or form "successful". He hasn't shown he can win games consistently, complete passes consistently or avoid boneheaded mistakes consistently. This doesn't mean he's incapable of performing at a successful level -- but it's folly to to argue he's proven he can be successful so far in his career. This is the year for Fitz. It's playoffs or he's done in Buffalo. If he can't take this team to the playoffs then why should we be confident he can lead this team, or any team, to a Lombardi trophy? -
CBS Sports 2013 Mock draft?
CosmicBills replied to Beastly Dareus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That wouldn't surprise me if it works out that way come next April. IF this team comes together on the field as well as it looks on paper, this team will finally be able to make bold moves in the draft to get their franchise QB -- either to learn behind Fitz or take his job -- without hurting the team's chances of success. -
... if they have any decency, they'll leave it alone for at least a decade.
