  1. I could explain it, but it would require a lot of charts and graphs. And an easle.
  2. Los Angeles ... I didn't realize it was a limited release until this morning. It will get a broader release I am certain. It's too fun not too.
  3. Just saw Moonrise Kingdom ... well worth checking out for any fans of Wes Anderson. It might be my second favorite of his films now, right behind Royal Tannenbaums. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7N8wkVA4_8s
  4. It does come together in the end. And in fact the first half has a ton of set ups that are paid off in the final reel. Everything from the wallpaper in Barton's hotel room to the box. Most of it is subtextual, but it's all there.
  5. Another link About UFO cases that have (mostly) withstood skepticism. ...Of course, this is CRACKED, but there are plenty of materials about these 5 events out there.
  6. Agree with everyone that you need to see Barton Fink again. It's a masterpiece of modern cinema. Definitely not for everyone, definitely abstract, but if you survived one viewing of it a second one will be more revealing. Funny thing about Miller's Crossing and Barton Fink ... They were writing Miller's Crossing, a densely plotted story, and got stuck. Rather than force the issue, they stepped away from Miller's Crossing and banged out Barton Fink in short order. Then they went back and finished Miller's Crossing. I love both films. And it's a testament to the genius of Coen Brothers that they were able to write something as complex and satisfying as Barton Fink as a means of procrastination from another, equally as brilliant, script. Crazy.
  7. You're right. Sleeping through one episode out of 41 is definitely enough to reach such definitive judgment about the show.
  8. This is true. If you say you haven't seen a fight at a Bills game, then you've never really been to a Bills game.
  9. I can't help it! I sold my soul so now all that comes out is nonsense from the Hollywood machine!
  10. Yeah these things only happen in LA. Talk about a ridiculous post.
  11. There is also the possibility that the aliens aren't extraterrestrial but inter-dimensional ...
  12. Look at you with the clever puns.
  13. There have been countless mass sightings. Some very recently, witnessed by 1,000s of people in populated city centers. For point of reference, check out: Mexico City. 200? Again just one video of many you can find. This was an event over one of the world's largest population centers and was covered in the news around the world. Forget the exact date but it was like 2009ish? St. Petersburg, Russia. April 2012. This is just one video, but there are literally dozens out there, from different sources all showing the same event. And this was last month. China, 2010 This was also international news as the UFO came back two additional times. No explanation has ever been given but it shut down the same airport twice. Another event witnessed by hundreds of people (if not more) over NYC. Better videos can be found I'm just doing this rapid fire. Phoenix, 1997 A very famous UFO case called the Phoenix lights. Witnessed by 10,000 Phoenix residents. Skeptics claim these are just flairs being dropped by military craft (there is a base nearby and flairs are often dropped here). Believers claim that video examination of the footage shows the lights aren't flairs. Still debated.
  14. Good questions. And I'm nerdy enough to respond ... As for your first point: I would argue that there are actually plenty of evidence out there of unexplained sightings that have been corroborated by credible, trained professionals (pilots, military, police, etc etc). Not to mention there are several cultures in South America that celebrate what they believe to be "star brother" landings throughout their early history. Whether or not these sightings and events were really extraterrestrial in origin or not who knows. But there are plenty of plausible reasons why, if they were, those facts would be kept from the public throughout history. Fear of inciting panic being the primary followed closely by a fear of losing power (mainly religious institutions like the Vatican etc). And today, with easy access to sophisticated CGI programs, it's easier than ever to dismiss sightings, even video, as being fake or hoaxes. As for your second point: There are PLENTY of other reasons, other than resources, why an interstellar species would visit Earth. Ask yourself what we would do if we were to suddenly discover primitive life on a planet we could reach ... we'd study the life, we'd keep going back and observe from a distance. Plus, if a civilization were truly advanced enough to master interstellar travel, they'd most likely would have had to survive their own self-destructive nature as a species and evolve to a more peaceful or altruistic race. Of course that's just conjecture but there are plenty of possibilities. Not that I believe in any of that ... but the truth is out there.
  15. That's how I felt the only two times I watched it ... hard to explain why it bugged me but I guess I wasn't the audience.
  16. You mean fleshlight, right?
  17. I fully admit to being part of the audience that did not enjoy TTRL. I was probably too young when I saw it to fully appreciate it, but Malick has always been very tough for me to process in general. His stuff is BEAUTIFUL and I'll watch his films just for the images he captures. The guy is a genius there is no question. He's also a lot smarter than me -- or at least that's how I feel when watching his stuff and trying to process it.
  18. It's actually a fantastic series for unintentional comedy. And, depending on the subject, it can be WAY out there or much more grounded in plausible reality. Not sure which ones you caught last night, but there are a few that I would actually recommend checking out on Netflix for free.
  19. An excellent noir comedy that you may have missed: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Or, if you want to have your mind blown: A Separation
  20. I think crayola defines me as "white as fu*k" ... but it was a limited edition run.
  21. Nope. The topic has become more about the substance behind his words and the topic he was speaking out about rather than the specific quote. I know I'm new around here, but isn't that the norm?
  22. Do you think there is such a person in politics today? Honestly?
