  1. You're right. But, to be fair, we never needed to force anything deep yesterday. Our offense was controlling the clock, and had the lead all the way till the end. The offense's main job yesterday (right or wrong) was to keep the turnovers down and put the defense in the best position to win the game...and they did that. If TC had it to do over again, I think he would have mixed in a couple deep balls, but for 59 minutes yesterday, the gameplan was working fine.
  2. Yup. It's funny... But I watched the sidelines a lot during the game and never saw any heads hanging or any paniced faces, even during that final drive. Everyone was cool and collected, which, in my mind, translates into confidence. The players know they lost this game-they weren't beaten. That is a far cry from the team last year that was constently beaten and outplayed virtually every game.
  3. It's the first game they've played with this staff, and with these guys next to them. Every year, especially in this league, chemistry gets washed away like chalk on a black board. It's not developing individual killer insticts, it's developing a TEAM concept of that. That takes time, especially with a new staff.
  4. I agree...but I believe that a killer instinct can, and MUST, be learned over the course of the season. In that way, it's good that this game happened in Game 1. Now this team can plainly see that they need to finish teams off. It may sound like common sense, but sometimes that is a lesson you can't learn as a team until you are on the wrong end of a game like that.
  5. I wouldn't go so far as to say this is a must win game for the Bills, but it certainly is more important than if we had won yesterday. Winning will set a good tone going into the off week and allowing us to get ready for NE. But even if we lose (which I don't think we will), it's not the end of our season. Hell, we could start out 0-3 and still end up winning 8 or 9 games.
  6. Amen! By the way...I still think 10 wins is attainable, even with this loss.
  7. True...but they gave Lindell a major league contract. If they cut him and signed some one else, it would have been a large cap hit (maybe Clumpy would know exactly how much)...and I don't think TD and Co. wanted to take on that much dead money for a kicker. Does this make it better? No. But it explains why they weren't looking.
  8. I know the history Call it a hunch...
  9. They are. This team should have put up over 24 points today. A bounce here, a non call there and poof...we have a win instead of a loss. As I said earlier, I feel really good about this team, this staff and our chances. I did not have that feeling very often last year...even after we won.
  10. Just remember, 15 other teams in the leage are 0-1. It's not the end of the world or the season. This team will win in Oakland.
  11. First off, this season is a very long one. Lest we forget...we started 2-0 and look how we finished last year. Philly and NE both started 0-2 and look how they finished. So let's not lose our heads. If you need more perspective on the 0-1 start, remember this: half the league right now is 0-1. Now, for specifics: 1) Offensively we looked good. Did we look great? No. But we looked good. Drew was sharp (1 sack, no picks, got rid of the ball quick), our running game was solid (Travis 3.3 yards per carry, Willis 3.6 against a VERY strong run D). 2) Our OLine looked very good. The holding penalty was bad, but overall, our OLine was better than I thought they would be at the start of the year. 3) Our Defense got 2 turnovers and dominated a good Jacksonville offense, holding them to only 2 third down conversions. They were agressive and had a swagger that was nice to see. 4) Our coaching staff was very, very good today. Made the right calls at the right times and controlled the game. 5) Overall the team just LOOKED confident. Something that was missing last year. All in all, this game came down to two things: The fumbles and the missed fieldgoal. All of which are easily correctable. Even though this was a gut wrenching loss, I walked out of the stadium knowing that we got beat by a lucky play and we were NOT outplayed. That was not a feeling I had ONCE last year. Last year I constently felt we got outplayed in our losses and most of the time felt lucky we were even in it. Not the case this year. All that sunny stuff aside, next week's game takes on added importance simply because we play NE in week 4. It is imperative that we get a win in Oakland and get the bad taste out of our mouth so the players don't have a week to simmer over an 0-2 start. But have faith! This team, this coaching staff, is vastly improved from last year. Call me crazy, but I feel better about this loss than I did about any win (the NE win aside) we had all last year. It's going to be a good year for the Bills.
  12. I am inclined to give most of the fans a slight break. Perhaps most of em didn't show because they are leaving due to Ivan. Who knows.
  13. Uh, you're wrong. They talked about it during the Indy game. Last year he had a reported 200,000 worth of fines levied at him. His response? "I don't care about the rules, I play to win". That is a world class prick. And an unethical one at that. So, to recap, not only was he the most FINED player on your team, he was the most FINED player in the league last year.
  14. I'm a Yankee fan and even I cringed at that post. No stars? So...Manny, Pedro, Varitek don't count as stars? You must be high.
  15. Was that a hurricane joke?
  16. Yeah, pulled Hammy. He was in and out the second half. He'll be fine.
  17. In any other situation...maybe. But there isn't a ref in the league that would call that BS penality when it would decide the game (as this one would have) unless it was really, really blatent.
  18. Manning just can't beat NE. He cost them the game with his poor redzone decisions. Forget Jame's fumble...this one rests on Manning's shoulders. Two words: Over-Paid
  19. Classic :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:
  20. Another Manning disaster
  21. I'd love to see a draw to Edge...let him get some revenge
  22. HAHAHAHAHAHA
  23. Yes they are out of TO. This could be a drive of redemption for Manning... Or it could just be another chapter in his choking book...
  24. never mind
  25. Do you risk a pass here? Or do you just run out the clock and punt it?
