  1. I dunno, BF. I would take Mussina and Brown over any of St. Louis's two starters (especially with Carpenter out). Don't you agree? I mean both guys have more post season starts and better career stats. Plus, the way Lieber and El Duque have been throwing, that's a dangerous back 2 starters. I think the bullpens are pretty equal, only I give the Yanks a big edge with closers...
  2. Just promise me when the Bills win, and they will, that you stop posting for a week. Enough with the negative nillies (I can't believe I actually said negative nillies...god I am so lame)
  3. I don't want to count my chickens yet, but a Cardinal/Yankee WS (or even a Redsox/Cardinal WS) would be great baseball. All three clubs have tremendous power and great pens. However, the edge would clearly go to Yanks or the Sox who have a better starting rotation. It would be a good test to see if the old adage holds true: Good Pitching Stops Good Hitting... We shall see!
  4. Looking ahead in my crystal ball to the offseason: All I know is that Yanks are going to go after some starters in the offseason. Take a look at their rotation: Moose and Lieber are the only ones locked in right now in terms of having their best stuff. Vasquez will hang around and will be good, but he is still young and then you have Brown who is injured more often than he is healthy. So there are two spots open. Then you take a look at the free agent starters available and you realize there aren't many. Kip Wells? Lima? Hampton? I mean, gimme a break. If the Yankees want to improve their staff Pedro is a viable solution...as long as he doesn't come with a 125 million dollar price tag. I agree they shouldn't over pay for the guy, but he is a gamer who knows how to win. He would fit in perfectly in our rotation. All that being said, I find it highly unlikely that he doesn't re-up with the Sox. Despite all the bickering he has done this year, he said a couple weeks ago that he wants to resign with the Sox and would be willing to give them a discount as long as they "don't disrespect" him. I don't think they will. Boston loves Pedro. But all that is conversation for another time I guess. Now we should be focused on the ALSC at hand and the 2-0 lead the Yankees have. I personally LOVE the matchup of Brown vs Arrojo and El Duque (who says he's pitching game 4) vs Wakefield. Two great matchups that the Yankess have to (and will) take advantage of. The Sox aren't done, that's for sure, but I think their heart was ripped out. The worst case scenario for the Sox (and the RedSox nation) coming into these first two games was a SPLIT with the Yankees. Not in their wildest dreams could they imagine losing BOTH games with their two studs on the hill. Well, it happened. And as Charlie Stiener said last night, it was a different Redsox clubhouse after game 2. There were no jokes, no music, just long faces. Do I think they Yanks will sweep? No. But I bet they take a 3-1 lead and win in 5. Then imagine how crestfallen the Sox will be. As Manny said before game one, "if we can't beat the Yankees this year, with this team, then we may never be able to beat them". It's almost like the Sox EXPECT to lose. They have to try to get their confidence back ASAP if they want to make this a series again.
  5. yeah, I just watched that on YES. I hope we see him in Pinstripes next year:)
  6. Absolutely. Arrojo doesn't worry me too much, especially in Fenway (a hitter's park). I expect the scores of the next couple games to be much higher. I am also banking on Brown coming up big as he did in Minnesota. He is still trying to earn back his teammate's trust after punching that friggin' wall.
  7. Agreed. Go piss now!
  8. Who woulda thunk it? The Yanks take a two game lead by beating Schill AND Pedro with Moose and Liber??? Charlie just read the stat that in 13 times no team has ever come back from a 0-2 deficit in the ALCS. Wowzers, it's on Brown on Friday to win pivitol Game 3!

  18. Shhh! Don't give 'em any incentives! There's 3 outs left!
  19. yeah, I didn't mean it would wear him out, it just gives the Yanks more at bats against him which means they know him a little bit better for later on in the series... Same is true for the Sox with Mo
  20. yes it would...
  21. LOL Yes, now we get to see Foulke AGAIN. As I said yesterday, this helps the Yanks for later on in the series.
