Well 1918 is almost in the rearview.

I know you are psyched about what the Cards did, and as well you should be. No shame in it at all. I was just pointing out that the Yankee Mystique is far from shattered or broken -

Exactly. Regardless of this post season, it takes a lot more for people to forget the names like: Ruth, the Iron Horse, The Mick, Reggie, Marris, DiMaggio, Yogi...(and the list goes on and on and on) And while the RedSox have always defined themselves in comparison to what the YANKEES DO, the Yankees only care about winning it all. However, with all that said, and as loyal a Yankee fan as I am, no one will ever be able to take away what Boston accomplished this year. I'm happy for them, their fans and the city (especially since I lived there lol). But of course, I can't wait till next year when the Yankees get their revenge -

It will take a lot more than one horrendous 4 game stretch to shatter the Yankee Mystique. They have 27 world titles, more than any other sports franchise in history and still have an allstar team (minus the pitching...for the moment). The Yanks could go 10 years without making the playoffs and still have their mystique and prestige in tact. If you don't believe it, look at the Yankees in the 1980s. They sucked but they were still The Yankees... -

Um ... because the Yanks 1) have a better lineup, 2) are more familiar with Boston pitching than the Cards are (they played 19 times in the regular season) and 3) the Yanks were hot for games 1-3 and the Cards have been ice cold. -
COME ON BABE, WORK YOUR MAGIC!!!!

Not entirely true Kas. The "Curse of the Bambino" was a hex that was supposed to prevent the Sox from ever winning another World Series after they traded the Babe to NY. Which, when you stretch it out, means it helps the NL teams the Sox face in the WS (ask Buckner and the Mets in '86 lol). Of course, I don't believe in such things... -
I still don't think we will finish dead last in the league.

LoL! Actually, the main character does somewhat resemble David Boston. And there is a guy who sells Weed who has dreads like Wittle Wicky does -

Kinda. Only with car-jacking, rap music, drive bys, Casinos, prostitutes, various assortments of drugs and weapons with the necessary amount of swearing and gratuitous violence -

I'll admit it. I'm hooked. It's a great friggin' game. -
This is really humiliating for Drew

Did MM imply yesterday that JP isn't
CosmicBills replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I took those comments to mean was that PHYSICALLY he is not ready to play yet. "Not being comforatable with his drops" isn't a mental thing, he meant (imo) that his leg is sore/tender/hesitant during his drops and that affects how he is playing. The kid isn't ready to play yet. Give him a couple more weeks. -
If Ralph came to you and made you GM...

I'm still trying to decipher the title of this thread -
Agreed. I'm just hoping for an exciting series since I have no horse in this particular race. Game 1 was fun. But tonight's game was boring. I have a feeling Games 3 and 4 will be down to the wire.
-
I know. It's just great to see Sox fans be given that excuse since they do it to every Yankee fan 24/7. It's just funny to me. Don't worry BF. This series will be heading back to Boston 3-2 in favor of St.Louis. The Cards just need to find a spark on the mound.

Now I've heard it all. Another fan is actually picking on the SOX for spending too much money! As a Yankee fan, I can only grin

That's the thing. He got a bad rep from an incident which wasn't his fault in Atlanta. Any interview I have ever read from a player or coach or fan talking about Ray off the field has never said an ill word about the man. He is a classy guy.
-
People from the U stick together. But I agree. Ray Ray got a real bad rap from the Atlanta thing (talk about an arcane law!) but he is a truly great player and, more importantly, a CLASSY player.

Can we ALL agree on one thing today?

I still say we get a second rounder for him. But you have a point. Who cares, as long as we get something for him, I'll be happy. -
Yeah, I should have gotten in-store pickup. But with Madden and college football I got them a day early by having them overnight it to me:( I guessed wrong this time.
-
Yeah, I have been waiting forever for this game it seems like. lo I actually expected to get it yesterday (I ordered it online from ebgames.com with overnight shipping), but I have to wait till tuesday afternoon since it didn't ship this weekend.
-
Yes indeed! This game is going to be great, I can't wait.

What are ther chances that JP starts next week?
CosmicBills replied to The Hornell Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
None. And that is a good thing. He's not ready. I'm not on the Drew wagon, but let's be realistic. The kid JUST had his first week of practice since Training Camp. He needs another 2 weeks at least to get healthy and into game shape before he can even be considered a viable option as a starter. -
Time for the Losman/McGahee era to start..
CosmicBills replied to tjwbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree...kinda. Lossman should start when he is healthy and the rust comes off. Let's not forget he hasn't practiced since training camp. He needs at least two weeks of practice before he can be thrown into the game. He has to show he's 1)healthy and 2)knows the offense so he doesnt get killed. -

The funny thing is the line looks a whole heck of a lot better with Willis running behind it than Travis. Maybe the line will look better with JP behind it than Drew. Travis is great, but his days as the starting RB in Buffalo are over. He knows it. The coaches know it. And now the fans do. Willis is just a spark plug. The only thing he did wrong today was give up on that interception return. That was painful to see. But he'll learn.
