Hahahaha What can I say? I like causing trouble.

You know me, BF. I've been on Manning all year for never winning the big one. Yet, I WANT him to prove me wrong. And nothing would be sweeter than to see him do so vs the Pats. I feel your pain living in Indiana, but wouldn't you rather suffer a couple more weeks of that rather than see the Pats get a third ring?

Early draft/offseason predictions
CosmicBills replied to nodnarb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A very well thought out post. My only comment would be that this year's draft is very, very weak. I am not in a huge hurry to make a lot of moves just for more draft picks. That being the case, trading Moulds wouldn't make much sense. Now, if this were LAST year's class, then it would. But not with this weak class. I agree that Miller and Munoz would be GREAT pickups. -
what does Moss do if he scores a TD?
CosmicBills replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
whips out his crank and pisses all over the endzone. I mean...what else is left? -
I just love messing with you. I've been good, just busy with applications for grad school. Fun times. I trust you're doing well:)

And to think I used to respect you Rooting for the Jets...come on, that's like rooting for the Redsox!

Also, as for the monster I think I have a good handle on what it is. And this isn't entirely original, some have hinted on this notion on this thread. Here goes. The monster is a reflection of yourself. If you look at how the monster has acted and who it has interacted with, it makes sense. The monster was first sighted during the survivors' first night, when everyone was afraid of the island and where they were. This was their biggest fear. Thus the monster was stomping trees in the jungle. After all at that point they didn't know what was IN the jungle and were afraid. Thus the monster materilized as those fears. The next time you see the monster is when they trek to the cockpit. They don't see the monster until the pilot says they were way off course and they aren't looking in the right place. Again, fear sets in and the monster appears. The pilot sticks his head out in fear and gets killed by the monster (because he was afraid of dying, he even said it in the cockpit before he got eaten). Yet the monster doesn't kill Charlie or Jack because Jack embraced his fear and went back for Charlie (when he fell). And the same was true for Kate who counted to five and "let the fear out". The next time we see the monster was with Locke. And while everyone ran, Locke stood his ground and embraced his fear. He looked at the monster with awe and reverence rather than fear and thus he was spared (it is also interesting to note that after that moment Locke truly became mystical). If the monster is a reflection of yourself, then Locke's fearlessness was reflected in the monster at that moment that it stood before him (and he lived to tell the tale). And in the most recent episode, the monster was active EVEN IN A DREAM. This is key because the monster reacted the same way as it has been in reality (at least according to this theory). Boone's biggest fear was losing Shannon. And that was reflected outward and the monster took Shannon from him. Adding further proof that this monster is a reflection of yourself...even your subconscious self. So, if that theory is indeed true (which I am growing more convinced that it is) it raises a number of interesting questions. It also makes me believe we will never see the monster as long as this show is on the air. We may see parts of him, but not the entire monster (kinda like Jaws).

You don't have to worry there. They did a complete "Bible" for this show (something that has become a lost art outside of Soap Operas). Meaning that they wrote the entire story arch out (and all the subplots) before shooting a single episode. That is why the show appears to be so well written (well, it IS well written, but this is why it appears to be SO superior to everything else out there right now). So they have the arch to pull everything together. But the question is...will they do that this season or stretch it out into another 2 or 3 seasons? JJ Abrams (the show's creator) initially turned down the offer to do this show because he couldn't figure out how to make it last more than a season. It wasn't until he figured out how to stretch it over multiple seasons (according to one interview he did this by coming to the conclusions that "what if the Island they were lost on wasn't a normal island?") that he agreed to write it...so you have to assume that we won't get all the answers this season. As for the most recent episode, I just watched it (it was a busy week) and had an observation about Locke that may be interesting...(by the way, good work on the Locke theories...the philosophy student in me is proud of you guys!). What if Locke doesn't exsist at all? The only thing he has done on the island really is help other people conquer their fears (Charlie, Jack, Boone and Syiad). His almost mystical abilities (being able to walk again, being baptised by the rain in the pilot episode, etc) lead me to specualte that he died in the crash. Just throwing stuff against the wall...

Thats a great call. I didn't catch that the first time. I don't know if it's a bomb though, only because if it was I think they would have used a different method to get it (rather than blowing up the train I mean...for if it was a bomb that might be a tad risky). Maybe it has something to do with the internet attack?

Yup. Another thing to consider, the mother said "This is the key to everything"...and since the man who they took the case from had it handcuffed to his wrist most assume that the contents are from the US Gov (papers, nuke codes whatever). But I don't think this is the case. If it was a US briefcase, then they would know what was inside (and that it was missing) as soon as the train crashed. But since it's been 3 hours and still no one in the Gov't appears to be missing a vital briefcase, it's more plausible that the case was another criminals (or another country). Also, since they opened it like a million times, I don't think it's anything biologic or chemical or explosive (since it survived the crash and stuff).

I think if he's released he winds up in Miami.

SPOILER:::::: (well, a spoiler question) So what do you think is in the briefcase?

(in no particular order) 1. 24: Just fantastic 2. Lost: This one came out of nowhere for me. A fun/mysterious show 3. Simpsons: Still the best comedy on TV. 4. Curb Your Enthusiasm: Still the second best comedy on TV 5. Sopranos: Fell off a bit, but still makes my Must See list (honerable mention...or off the air) Drew Carey, Raymond, Seinfeld, Entourage, Survivor, Chapell

I think this season has been fantastic so far. My only complaint was a weak ending for Episode 4. I was expecting a "bigger" ending than what was shown (I won't give a spoiler, but those of you that watched know what I mean). I am a huge 24 fan and I can't wait for next monday!

I don't think the Pats will represent the AFC this year in the superbowl. That being said, I don't know if they lose to Indy or the next week. They just have too many injuries on Defense to win. Just my two cents.
-
Me too. Sadly Drew doesn't have close to the same amount of talent. And he never did.

Dungy said the starters are coming out in the 4th if the game remains this much of a blowout. God, Denver sucks.

Carlos Beltran free to sign with anyone
CosmicBills replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm a Yankee fan and I totally agree with you Some of the Yankee fans here clamoring that Beltran will be a bust or that the Mets are going to overpay have a touch of sour grapes. I think Beltran would be a great fit in the Bronx, but Millbank summed it up beautifully, every team (even the mighty Yankee$) have their financial limits. And if Beltran truly does wind up a Met, then the Yankees decision not to make an offer has to do with their own budget rather than the man's talents on the diamond. Beltran will be a great player for a long time. It doesn't matter where he ends up. -
Walter Jones = stud and will be available
CosmicBills replied to BuffaloRebound's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too much money. JJ will cost less than Walter and even HE may be too pricey for the Bills. -

Also, one thing to note...it's not over. Don't be surprised if he still winds up a Yankee. Stranger things have happened. If he isn't wearing pinstripes, I hope he will be a Met, that way I can see him play more often. -
Man, I just can't watch football this week. Too sad. I need a week or two of grieving. I probably won't watch until the conference championship games. It just makes me too sick to think about it.

Nope, this year it is on Monday nights at 8. And as an added bonus, they have already filmed half the season meaning they won't have those annoying 3 week breaks in the middle of the season. All 24 episodes will air in a row. Sounds good to me! Don't worry Ricco, my friend does the same thing with the DVD, so I won't post any spoilers when the show starts All I know about this year is Tony and Michelle are in the show but aren't regulars (what that means, I'm not exactly sure), Kim (sadly) is not on the show (for now at least) and niether is Palmer. I agree that their storylines became stale, but I really dug Palmer (and loved looking at Kim!). Oh well. This season should be great!

I know there is a large LOST contingent on this board, but are there a lot of 24 watchers? Just curious since the new season starts on Sunday. Since the BIlls are out of the playoffs and I am in football mourning, I am glad 24 is around to ease the pain.

Most NFL GMs and owners are expecting a major bump in the 2005 salary cap. Based on the NFL's monster new TV deal, the players Union will be hankering for a bigger piece of the pie. I have read some reports that estimate up to a 15 percent jump in the salary cap this year. A lot of people are speculating that the Colts are banking on precisely that (makes sense when you look at all the moves they made after the deal came through). I don't expect it to be quite that high. However, the exact figure won't be reached until after the Super Bowl. For now it's all a guessing game.
