Good episode I thought.... Anyone catch the TV during the flashbacks? See who was one there???? Very interesting indeed!

The fans are just as guilty as the League. Afterall, it was the fans packing into those stadiums to watch the long balls... So maybe we should boycott the fans as well

OT-Shaq out for the rest of the year

WOW, that sucks for the Heat... I feel bad for them. -
So, should Ruth's records not count either? Afterall, in his time MLB excluded an entire segment of the population from EVEN PLAYING THE GAME. How can we ever tell what "might have been" had blacks been allowed to play? Maybe Babe never gets the record because he has to face the likes of Paige, or get competition from Gibson, Robinson or the countless other players who were excluded because of the color of their skin. "His records will be scarred forever already." I don't think so. Baseball has a long history with plenty of skeletons in the closet. The "Steroid Era" is certainly a black eye for the sport, but who's really to blame? The individual who took perfermance enhancing drugs (which, weren't outlawed by the sport until recently), or the league that allowed that loophole to exist? It's easy to critize players for using the drugs from the cheap seats...but honestly, could you say you wouldn't do the same? If you had the opportunity to financially secure future generations of your family by taking drugs that may drastically shorten your life and AREN'T against the rules, wouldn't you have to at least consider it? Obviously not everyone would do it...and I am not condoning Bonds...but I find it hard to place all the blame on him (or anyone who roided). But in the end, what's worse...not allowing blacks to play (and thus affecting the record books...) or allowing individuals to use performance enhancing drugs (and thus affecting the record books...)? Yet, no one ever questions the records from the "old days". Kind of hypocritical if you ask me.

I'm not saying the wind cost the Bills the game. I'm saying it speaks volumes about Drew if he goes out there and intentionally disobeyes the coaches. It goes beyond arrogant. It is flat out poor leadership. How could you possibly defend Drew's actions? Combine that with Drew's PC and comments about JP, and it shows me there was a lot of trouble brewing behind the scenes that we weren't privy too. I'm not saying Drew is a bad guy, but it seems to me like he had worn out his welcome with teammates and coaches. So, I say again, good riddence. -

So the whole King Article was false? I don't buy it. Dicesare would have pointed that out (about the wind) if it weren't true. The fact that Dicesare doesn't offer anything to disprove King's article proves the accuracy of the King piece. The question Dicesare is asking is "who leaked it and why". My answer: Who gives a damn. If I were TD I would leak that too. Drew deserves to get torn to pieces for a stunt like that...especially if it was symptomatic of his attitude in general towards his coaches and teammates. -

Where do you get he got the facts wrong? Who's GG? -
I commend Brady for his stance. But what people are forgetting is the pressure won't come from the media or his teammates (exactly) to ask for a raise, it will come from his union. If Brady, the best QB in the game today, is only making 6 mill a year, how can Manning or Vick possibly justify their huge contracts? They can't. At somepoint the owners will say..."Well, Tom Brady is making XYZ, and you are no Tom Brady...". That is why the Union will step into Brady's contract discussions when he renegotiates (which he is doing now I think). So if Manning is making 14 mill a year, Vick is making around 12 or 13, the Union is going to be putting a lot of pressure on Brady to ask for a contract that at least puts him in the same neighborhood as those two players. His contract doesn't just affect himself, it affects every other player in the Union. That is why it will become a big deal. Am I saying 6 mill a year is too little? Of course not. But in the psuedo world of NFL Athletes, it is a crime...my bet is he gets a new deal that pays him between 9 or 10 million a year.

Bills war room footage on Buffalobills.com

Where's that one? -
My dream scenario (key word: dream) would still be to trade Henry for Shelton and resign JJ. Shelton's numbers are very reasonable, and the Bills could afford both he and Jennings. Then, bump Shelton over to LG (where he is apparently better suited according to some scouts) and leave JJ at LT. The line would be pretty dominate: JJ, Shelton, Teague, CV, Williams. I would take it.
-
Then you should know better. If it were that simple, he would be one already. The kid isn't the brightest bulb on the tree, and you are expecting him to learn an entire position (the one that demands the most technically sound fundamentals of anyother on the field) in one season. That's not realistic. Also, many lineman in the NFL aren't the best because they are the fastest or strongest. THey are the best because they have the best technique. What makes Ogden so good? His technique. Pace? Technique. You don't hear analysts/coaches say "he ran the 40 in 4.5 and benched 450 pounds..." fans say that. What you hear coaches say is "they get down so fast, great footwork, quick to the body with the hands...." That's the gravy that you need to learn as a lineman. I don't disagree that athleticism plays a role. Of course it does. This is a sport afterall. But in the NFL, everyone is athletic. What separates the good from the bad is technique. And that is something Peters doesn't have right now.
-
I don't mean this in a negative way at all, but did you ever play football? Those that play(ed) know that football is ALL about technique. From how a QB steps back in the pocket, to where a DB positions his hips before a WR's break, to how a LB takes on a FB. It's all technique. But no where is technique MORE important than on the OLine. A LB can get away with bad technique sometimes by using his speed/strength. Same with a QB or DB. But never a lineman. That's why O-Lineman spend most of their time in camp learning exactly where to move their legs and hands. It's all about technique and leverage on the line. If technique wasn't the most important thing, how could McNally be rated as a "good coach"? I have high hopes for Peters, but you cannot turn the position over to him just because he's "athletic".

Travis Henry to the Hawks is looking even better!
CosmicBills replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if the Pats don't win another game for the next four years, they will still be the team of the 00's. 3 out of 4 superbowls is something we won't see again for a long time (unless they win again next year...which is a def possibility) So does it really matter if they collapse? The damage is done -
But did you use the swings or the monkey bars at least?

Bledsoe Controversy in Dallas?
CosmicBills replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point. Like I said, I haven't paid any attention, it's just a team that popped into my head as a good fit for Drew since they have the weapons he needs (TE/RB/LINE/D) etc. I think going to Dallas would be a bad move for Drew personally. He would have to face the Redskins and Eagles (two of the best blitzing teams in the NFL) twice a year. He would get murdered. -
How to win with JP starting!
CosmicBills replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. I just think people should go into this their eyes open rather than attempt to use Big Ben as "proof" first year QBs can succeed. Sure they can, but more often than not they don't. Expect the norm, not the extraordinary. And the norm is a long season ahead for JP and this team. That's all I'm saying. -
Bledsoe Controversy in Dallas?
CosmicBills replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What if Bledsoe ends up in Baltimore? I haven't been paying attention to the possibilities at all, but how entrenched is Boeller? That would be the perfect spot for him I think. Great line, great TE, great D and great RB. He would have very good WRs if they made a deal for Moss too. -
Bills make playoffs in 2005 under JP?
CosmicBills replied to HurlyBurly51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totally I hope I am dead wrong. I am wishing to be wrong But I am just not optomistic about this year. Still, going to JP IS the right move...I just am expecting a tough year ahead. -
How to win with JP starting!
CosmicBills replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not saying anything about Cincy vs Buffalo. What I am saying is the AFC East from top to bottom is better/tougher than the AFC North. Which is one of many factors that makes Big Ben's success impossible to expect from JP. Big Ben had a better team: Better D, Better running game, better WRs, Better line AND plays in an easier division. JPs road will be much tougher than Big Ben's was. -

Pats, Jets, Fins twice a year vs Baltimore, Clevland and Cincy. Baltimore is good, but Clevland and Cincy aren't. -
Bills make playoffs in 2005 under JP?
CosmicBills replied to HurlyBurly51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This poll is amazing. Absolutely amazing. I know people are voting with their hearts, but you are only setting yourself up for dissappointment. Let's not forget that the Bills play in the AFC East with the Pats, Jets and Dolphins. That equates to a 3-3 record within the division at best (swept by the Pats, split with the Jets, sweep the fins). NE wins the division. So, the Bills will have to win a WC. 9 wins couldn't do it last year, it won't do it this year either. They are going to need to get 10 or 11 wins. To jump from 9-7 to 10-6 or 11-5 with a first year QB at the helm is not going to happen. While I hope I'm wrong, I don't see this team making the playoffs. I'm going to wait until FA to make a real prediction, but I will be shocked if they even win 8 games. -
How to win with JP starting!
CosmicBills replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's an awfully big assumption. There is no guarantee that JP can match Drew's numbers in his first year. None. Drew was a 12 year vet. Sure, he made TONS of mindboggling mistakes, but for every Big Ben there are a 100 Heath Shuelers. The fact is we don't know what we have with JP yet. So to expect him to win 9 games "because Drew did it" is flawed logic. Big Ben had a better Defense, better running game, better WRs and a much easier division. You cannot assume because Big Ben did it, JP will do it. The odds are stacked against it. -

If I remember correctly (and that's a stretch) it was because he didn't want to be in California anymore. He wanted to get away from his home state entirely. People thought he was nuts to go to Tulane because Ramsey was already established, but he wanted a change. I don't think it was because he couldn't compete w/ anyone at UCLA. But I'm not sure.
