Young was impressive last night. Clearly a brilliant performance and a great college player. However, do you all really think he is going to be able to do that in the NFL? The guy cannot throw and NFL defenders will be faster than him unlike the UCLA defense last night. So where do you put him? WR? RB? If you plan on him being your QB you are looking at at least 3 years of development time. He is not as good in the open field as Vick was in college and Vick had a much better arm (which is scary since Vick to this day is terribly inaccurate). Young, Leinert and Bush all are going to be busts in the NFL. I said it, and stand by it. They will have some success, but won't live up to their hype. Leinert doesn't have the velocity to make all the throws needed, and how could anyone justify using a number one overall pick on a guy who has never been an every down player (like Bush). In my opion, White was the most impressive running back on the field last night for the Trojans. Don't misunderstand me, all three of these guys are physical specimines and tremendous college athletes with poise and leadership abilities. The performance by Young last night will be long remembered. However, none of them (Young included) have the total package to be superstars at their positions in the NFL. (I'm not trying to be argumentitive, just wondering if other people see what I see or if I'm just crazy)

But as QB coach, Wyche is the one who calls in the plays to the QB on the headset anyway. So he wouldn't be talking any more or less if he was also the OC.
-
That's right. I knew it was one of 'em Regardless, the Bills have no shot at getting Pioli out of New England.
-
Also, isn't Pioli married to Bellichick's daughter? The dude isn't leaving the Pats.

As a Michigan fan, you should be ashamed to have brought this up KO I was just messing around about his looks/dress/boring nature. But honestly, I don't want any college coach to be the next Bills coach (if there is a coaching change). Give me someone with NFL head coaching experience.
-
No. He looks like he watched too many Leave it to Beaver episodes with that stupid sweater vest. He also looks like he could be the most boring man alive. Aside from that, he's a Buckeye. Booooo to that

why the gregg williams lovefest??
CosmicBills replied to Corp000085's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would not surprise me to see Gregg Williams become a good to very good head coach in this league. He was too green when he got the job in Buffalo. Belichick was pretty bad in Cleveland before getting a second chance, now look at him. Not saying Williams will win 3 or 4 superbowls, just saying one bad stint as a head coach does not condem an obviously gifted coach to the dog house forever. -
Leave Holcomb in NYC. Please.
-
Agreed. Holcomb is not the answer. Never was, never will be. Now, JP? Who knows. And that's the problem. The Bills are going to have to waste another year giving JP experience before they even know if he is the answer either. Hey, but maybe the Bills can be 7-9 next year! Wooohoo!

Good point.

One lost I think....I don't think the Jests got the first one he put on the carpet.

Two fumbles and 3 picks. Flippin' Sweet game, Kelly.

Positives from this season...

Two things I would add to this list: A) The offensive problems go beyond a bad offensive line and bad play calling. I think the whole offensive scheme itself is flawed. The only time the offense had any consistant rythm all year was the Texans game, the game in which they had the longest to prepare for. There have been flashes in Cincy, Miami and KC, but it's been few and far between. If you go back to last year where despite the 9-7 record and prolific scoring, the offense was ranked near the bottom in nearly every category it doesn't look good. I smell something rotten. The fact that TC was stripped of his playcalling duties in week 5 and the offense didn't get any better with MM calling the shots is of even bigger concern. This scheme is not very adaptable and very easy to pick up on. Unless you have tremendous talent (like the Steeler teams that MM was used to coaching), it is never going to work. B) Jerry Gray is not the best DC in the game, or even close. Yes, TKO was injured. Yes, losing P-Diddy hurt the team. But the alarming thing is the lack of half time adjustments made by the defense. Over the past several years, Gray has always shown a knack for making great second half adjustments...however, with the unit's disasterous showing this season, it makes you wonder if those adjustments had more to do with Gregg Williams and Dick Lebaeu than they did with Coach Gray. -
You can also get the new season off of ITunes...I don't know how much per show though. But it will download it right onto your computer for you.

convincing Victory over division winner puts
CosmicBills replied to Johnny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I voted that MM will be back...but it's not based on the Cinci game or my own personal tastes. It's based on Ralph Wilson's history of pinching pennies. He is not about to eat MM's contract. If he sued Wade because he couldn't stomach the thought of paying him for ONE year of not coaching, do you honestly expect Ralph to happily pay MM for THREE years? Not gonna happen. MM, for better or worse, will still be this team's coach in 2006. -
68.4% completion rate for the season
CosmicBills replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this team were anywhere close to being a contender, then yes, Holcomb would be the perfect guy. Truth is, they're not close. Holcomb is old, and by the time the team is ready to contend, he will be on the wrong side of 35. The point is we have a young QB with better skills but zero game experience. Why waste games on Holcomb (who has peaked) when we could be using these last games to develop the kid? Worst case scenario we find out that Losman is not the future. Best case, we discover he is AND he gets the experience during the rebuilding of this team. Holcomb is never going to win a superbowl or a playoff game with the Bills (sad but most likely true). It's a waste of time to keep starting him. -
Who's her dad? I'm not in the loop.... I would welcome Dwight back any day of the week.
-
Again, GUTLESS! One second left and Holcomb doesn't even THROW the friggin ball?! He had all day. Sweet. Flippin' Sweet.
-
They are meaningless when you waste an opportunity to give the potential future of the franchise meaningful game experience. The only thing a victory gives the Bills now is a lower draft pick. Now, if JP were playing, it would be meaningful. Too bad.
-
Sure he does...because he has experience that JP doesn't have. So I ask you, why is he playing now? Its a meaningless game. A game where the young QB with better SKILLS (better arm, better mobility) can get some great experience on the road against a good team. Kelly is NOT the answer at QB. He is old, has no arm and is just average in every way. Is JP the answer? No clue, but we will never know if he sits on the bench during games like this.
-
It was second down....not third.
-
It passes the time.
-
No he didn't. He gave Moulds NO chance to make a play. He would have been better served running it. There were lanes. Not that Holcomb can run, but why risk a throw that will get you nothing when you can run? It was a bad decision. A gutless decsion...and not the first one he has made.
-
I would rather have a QB that takes risks than have one who plays it safe despite the situation. Also, if Holcomb had a real arm, he might have hit that throw....too bad he has no zip.
-
If that was the first time he has done that, then I would agree with you. But he does it seemingly EVERY third down. He has no game sense.
