What the HELL is going on in the Sopranos
CosmicBills replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watched it again today...the voice on the phone is different every conversation. Just FYI. It's a number of different women, maybe all the women in his life? Either way, they changed the voice to keep it purposely vague. And he is clearly in some sort of "waiting station" ala purgatory. Tons of religious imagry throughout his scenes -- it's not him imagining what his life might have been like. He is stuck because the comma was induced. -
What the HELL is going on in the Sopranos

Sure it is. Good stories, at any level or in any form are art. Even bad stories are art. But like all art, it's in the eye of the beholder. So most of the time (not all of the time) there is no way to know if it is "good art" or "bad art" since so much of it comes from inside you anyway. Not to defend this episode (I thought it was good, not great, but worthwhile) -- but who says that Tony stuff was a dream? I interpreted it more that he was in purgatory (or something similar). He wasn't imagining what his life would have been like had he not been in the family as much as he was stuck in this netherworld. He was induced into a comma, thus he couldn't leave. That is why he didn't have his wallet, couldn't get a room, and why he couldn't call home at the end. He was stuck between worlds. A lot of religious imagry throughout the comma sequences etc. It had a lot of indepth imagry as far as that goes -- a lot of it very subtle. The real life stuff going on was good as always. A fight for power within the family, AJ making a turn (similar path as Tony, getting kicked out of college after only a semester -- dying father etc). I dunno, I found it entertaining but a bit of a let down from last week's opener. -
...But....remember it IS the Saints.
-
Ah, good call. Yes -- but I can't imagine the Saints trading for Abraham when they can get Mario at 2 (or 4). Sure, Abraham is more "proven", but he also has attitude problems and perhaps doesn't have the upside of a player like Mario (from what I've read -- since I've never actually seen Mario play).
-
Or if they trade back to 4 and the Jets do indeed take ML and Tenn takes VY. Either way, I think Mario is a Saint.

Yeah, that lousy National Championship banner is a sure sign that Cuse never does well in the tourny. -
Okay, I'm a fan of BNL's music but I know NOTHING about them, which is strange since I have seen them in concert twice (damn girlfriends). Anyway, is Steve the one who sings most of the songs (the cooler voice on What a Good Boy, Old Aparment, Brian Wilson etc?) or is that Ed?
-
And he's also stated several times that he wants to keep doing the show as long as the fans keep watching. Jack won't die until the series finale, if at all.
-
Nah, he will live. Unless all the "inside looks" pulled the greatest con-job in television history. Because I know I've seen clips of future episodes (on HBO behind the scene type stuff) with Tony still kicking.

I don't know anything about the comic book (just saw the movies) but I read that it was originally Singer's idea to shoot a trilogy. But now that he's been banned from Fox and Rattner is in, maybe they will make more. I also heard Fox is keen on the idea of doing a solo movie with just Jackman.

When did Christopher become a captain? Was that over the "missing year" span between the season 5 finale and the season 6 premier? Or was that something I forgot in Season 5?
-
Good start to the season. Long overdue. Riveting last five minutes. And yes, Meadow looked HOT.
-
The rumor is yes. This is the cap on the "trilogy". However, there are supposedly plans to carry on the franchise by focusing soley on Wolverine.
-
If you call checking down to a 3 yard pattern every third and long as having "heart" then you have no idea what heart is. I will go on record right now and say unequivically that Holcomb will not be the starter opening day. There is no way that will happen given the realities of the situation. The only way someone other than JP is the starter is if JP gets injured or if they make a deal to bring in another veteran (which is a long shot). Holcomb is NOT a starting QB. He is a good backup -- that's it.
-
No, you become a bad team by giving up 3 picks on a talented QB and then only giving him 8 games to prove his worth. If you throw JP away now and he signs with another team and blows up -- then what would you say? You'd be f'ing furious. MW was a bust, but he was given time to prove he was a bust. I'm not saying you give JP 4 years, but you damned well give him more than 8 starts or else you're asking for disaster.
-
And the answer is no. The economics of the game is the deciding factor here. The team gave up a too much to get JP to give him only 8 starts and declare him a bust -- especially in favor of a 32 year old journey man with no arm and no heart. Marv knows this. DJ knows this. Ralph knows it. I'm not saying JP is the answer, it's far too early to tell. But the fact is that regardless of the politically correct statements from OBD about it being an "open competition" it most certainly is not. It will take a f*** up of Ryan Lief proportions in preseason for JP to not be the starter on openning day.
-
Amen
-
Not after just 8 starts.
-
The only way KH is the starting QB on openning day is if JP has a putrid preseason. Marv and DJ can say what they want about it being an "open competition", but it's not. JP is the man. The only thing that will prevent him from being the starter, like I said, is if he totally f***s up preseason. If it's a even a tie between JP and KH, the job will still go to JP. The team has too much invested in the kid NOT to give him a fair shot this year.
-
Really? What an odd rule. Why is that?
-
Nah, it'll be the Hobbit. He'll sacrifice himself to save everyone because it's the only way he can get redemption for getting nearly everyone at CTU killed by losing his keycard.
-
They did put him right next to Tony who just made Bill swear to "not let him cut a deal". It wouldn't shock me to see Tony kill Robocop (or at least try to) while everyone is stuck in the lockdown.
-
Silent count....he's dead. Plus, the Sopranos starts soon. Luis is needed elsewhere

Yes. That is how 24 works. They don't plan out the whole "plot" of the season in advance like LOST. They write only 4 or 5 episodes ahead of when they film them... Sometimes it makes for great TV (unexpected twists), other times it leaves some pretty big holes.
