I think they'll keep 7 WRs to offset the chance of Parrish being injured... Evans (lock) Price (lock) Reed (lock) Parish (lock) Wilson Davis Aiken Nance (Practice Squad)

Where is Martin Nance? Andre Davis?
CosmicBills replied to SouthTownBills51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are almost to the point now with Nance where they don't want to play him. He's not going to make the roster, but if they feel he can develop -- why expose him to the NFL by playing him much on Thursday? Just sit him, cut him, then let him clear waivers and sign him to the practice squad. Nance has not shown very much in camp except that he is raw, and deserved to go undrafted. Certainly his size makes him promising, and he CAN catch. A year on the PS could do wonders. I just think the Bills want to make sure he is on their PS rather than someone elses. As for Davis, I still think he makes the team. He'll take Smith's spot on the roster due to his abilities as a WR (which surpass Smith) and on ST (which are equal -- except in PR to Smith). -
T.O pressing his luck, fined $9,500

I can think of one: The Eagles. -
Tony IS cool. Because Tony is much more Michael than he is Sonny. If anyone in Tony's crew is Sony, it's Paulie Walnuts. Do you think Paulie is cool?
-
I think what this shows is that you can't get cooler than Bogey -- no matter what the role He is even cool in Angels With Dirty Faces when he is playing a weasel.
-
Because Sonny wasn't cool -- he was the opposite. He was powerful, yes. Could get women, yes. But he didn't have the ability to be anything but badass. He had two levels: Violent -- and Murderous. Michael on the other hand is cool. He is badass when he needs to be, but also smooth. Best example, the scene in Vegas. Imagine if Sonny had been in that room when Mo Green laughed. Sonny would have shot him then and there -- not cool. Instead, Michael stared him down and told him how it was going to be. Much cooler -- then killed him. Cool to me does not = ability to kick ass. Cool = the ability to do whatever you want, when you want and HOW you want. George Clooney as Jack Foley in Out of Sight is cool. He robbed over 200 banks without using a gun. Just by using his wits. He broke out of jail, nailed a federal marshal and robbed over 5 million in diamonds while saving a woman in distress. That is cool. If Jack Foley and Sony were competing over the same woman, Foley would win every time -- and make Sony think it was for the best. What moves does Sony have other than going for the gun? However, if Foley and Michael were competing over the same broad -- well, that might be more interesting. IMO

A KH trade would make sense -- I don't think the Bills could get a 5th for him though considering that's what they got for Moulds (a starter) where as Holcomb would be a backup. If Nall plays well tomorrow night and proves he can hold down the number 2 job, I don't see why they wouldn't swing a deal. It's no secret that KH doesn't fit into the new system.

Branch allowed to seek trade

Branch allowed to seek trade
CosmicBills replied to BUFFALOTONE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except Branch wants to be paid like a number one... He won't be a Bill. No way Bellichick trades him within the division. He's not Drew, he's a bonifide threat. -
Did you finally make up your mind? I've said it from the beginning of camp -- I don't think Nall was brought in to start. He was brought in to put pressure on JP, the guy everyone in the front office wants to be the starter and expected to be the starter. He was brought in, in part, to make it LOOK like it was a real competition for the job. Nall is nothing more than a backup -- 3rd string at that. Levy knew it when he brought him in, and we all know it now. Is he better than KH? We'll find out tomorrow. Is he better than JP? No. And he was never expected to be. This has not been a 100 percent open "competition" no matter what the spin doctors say at OBD. If it were, they would have brought in someone to really threaten JP's job rather than a guy who got ran out of GB and couldn't get higher than 3 on the depth chart. JP is the starting QB on the team. Has been since Mularkey left town. The orginzation has too much invested in him NOT to make him the starter for at least a full season.

Exactly. Cool and badass are NOT the same thing. Just like whoever put Worm (from Rounders) on that list. Worm is not cool -- Damon in that movie is. Worm is a screwup. And Kelly is right. No one is cooler than Bogey in Casablanca. Rick did EVERYTHING cool -- ran guns, fought Nazis, ran an illegal casino, got the girl AND gave her away. He's the man.

Scott Howard: Listen, Stiles. Do you know anything about a rash that's going around? Stiles: Why, you looking to catch something? Scott Howard: No, I'm serious. Stiles: No... but I heard Mr. Murphy, you know, the shop teacher? Scott Howard: Yeah? Stiles: Got his dick caught in a vacuum cleaner.

I dunno, Rico. I just think there are too many return men on the team for Smith to stick. Parrish will handle punts, McGee KOs, and in a pinch they still have Clements, and Shaud (if he sticks...which I'm unsure of). I don't know if Smith brings enough to the WR position to justify keeping him as just a return man. Not to say he isn't good, I like him and think he'll get picked up somewhere else, I just think he's the odd man out in Buffalo since the Bills have so many good return men already. Who knows though. If he sticks over Wilson, I wouldn't be heartbroken.

Watson cut is interesting regarding...
CosmicBills replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they did, Martin Nance would have been listed as the starter at every position on the field! But alas, it looks like the poor chap will be cut and added to the practice squad. Shocking, I know. -
I'll leave the cap numbers to the experts like Clumpy -- but I don't think the organization is going to be willing to cut a guy they just gave a four year deal to. Evans, Reed, Parish and Price are all safe. The question is who will the other 2 or 3 (my bet is 3) be? My guess: Aiken (he's been playing too good) Davis (Special teamer will replace losing Fast Freddie) Wilson (Just makes all the catches and seems to be a favorite of the staff)

My thoughts exactly. Portis could be out a lot longer than expected. A third round pick is a lot to give up just for a short yardage/goaline back. Something else is going on in DC.

Losman and Nall to play most of CLE game
CosmicBills replied to 2020 Our Year For Sure's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rip up what? His hamstring for the third time? Nall may do well against Cleveland, and I hope he does. But he won't be the starting QB this year for the Bills unless JP gets hurt. He has been miserable in camp and practices. Even though he is apparently a "gamer", it's not enough. He makes too many mistakes and doesn't have the same physical tools as JP. From my observations of him in camp. -
Villarial, Vincent, Holcomb to be cut...
CosmicBills replied to genomich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
CV has taken every snap with starting OL group in practice and in games. Preston is worked in and probably will replace him mid season or next year. However, you don't stick a guy in at the starting OG spot for every practice when there is even a chance of him being cut. Especially when you are trying to build cohesion on the OL. CV isn't going anywhere this year -- except maybe the IR. Vincent will remain a Bill. He is valuable to the team in terms of leadership. Will he start all 16 games? Probably not. But he'll be on the roster. And there is no reason to cut KH (though I wouldn't care if they did). The money invested in him, plus his veteran experience makes him a perfect backup if JP (who does run a lot behind a suspect line) gets dinged up. Again, none of these three are in danger of being cut. IMO. -

A B B King Tune for a Saturday Night

Great song too. I have seen him live a couple times, always a good show. His Dueces Wild album is fantastic. -
Yup -- they sure did. But if you watch the press conference rather than just read the highlights, you'll see that it was double talk. JP fell on the sword for Reed and said it was his fault. As a good QB should do. He didn't hang Reed out to dry. He scored points in my book for that move.
