  1. ... except he played WR Nevermind....I got the joke now:)
  2. It's not a walk. There are NO gimme games on (any) schedule. But, this team got tested early on the road and played well. Coming home to the Ralph for two weeks with this momentum will help. The Bears are the second toughest game on the schedule, not expecting a win. But the Lions are VERY beatable (moreso than the Jets). The Pats at home? I like the Bills' chances.
  3. The players do...fans don't
  4. Funny how that works, isn't it? Really, when you think about it, we are playing them two times this season off a bye since we opened the year against them.
  5. "As Buffalo Bills rookie safety Donte Whitner sat at his locker Sunday following his team's impressive 16-6 road victory over the Miami Dolphins, 81-year-old team owner Ralph Wilson sidled over with a message. "They said we took you too high," Wilson said. "I don't think so." Whitner's face lit up, as you would expect when the man who signs the checks pays you a compliment. "Thank you, sir," Whitner said. "I'm just trying to prove them wrong." .......................................................................................... And, the icing on the cake: "On a hot day at Dolphins Stadium, it was a late 23-yard touchdown pass from Culpepper to Chris Chambers with 1:54 left that prevented the Bills from getting the shutout. It was the lowest point total for the Dolphins in a home opener, which led to plenty of boos for the offense and an empty stadium in the final quarter. "We wanted that shutout," Whitner said. "And it was my fault. I underplayed the seven route and he cut up underneath it. I'm going to learn from it, and maybe next time I'll get the interception." ...................................................................................... This kid is going to be a keeper. http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9666800
  6. You have to like the upcoming schedule for the Bills with the momentum from today's win... - Home opener vs. Jests (W) ... though this game will be tougher than I anticipated, not that any AFC East game is easy. - Home vs. Minny (W)...though they are looking good. I think the home field gives the Bills the edge. - @ Chicago (L)...might be the second toughest game on the schedule. Riding a three game win streak could help, but I don't think the Bills have enough offense to beat that D on the road. - @ Detroit (W) ... Get back on track vs. the second worst team in the league. - Rematch vs. NE ... going into this game 4-2, at home when the Pats have a good shot at being 4-1 themselves (Denver, @ Cincy, Miami then a bye). This game is extra tough with the Pats coming off the bye, but if the Bills can generate momentum, the 12th Man could help pull off the upset. Either way, it's very possible for the Bills to be going into the bye week 5-2 or 4-3 with a softer schedule on the other side. It's going to be a fun season....
  7. http://www.gribblenation.net/nflmaps/ Someone posted this earlier, it shows what games are being shown by region.
  8. You obviously didn't watch the game today...
  9. I think I sat next to that guy at that game...random. But funny!
  10. Probelm is, there is no real competition in Roc for Hot Talk. He'll be given time to get his feet wet. Who are his producers?
  11. If the Bills' offense can start putting up points -- teams won't be able to run all the time. They'll be too far behind and have to pass which plays into the strength of the defense. Give it time.
  12. Knowing both, Brad will be missed. John is great, knows his stuff but doesn't have the same on air relateablity that Brad has. I think it's because radio is different than TV, though working with Wease helped JD tremendously I think. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
  13. Except you just ignore how well he played in Miami and coming off the bench against KC. Both late season games where you could see he had improved leaps and bounds from a shaky QB to a damned good one. JP was NOT a good QB last season, but he consistently improved as all first year signal callers tend to do. His development was railroaded last season by a desperate organization trying to save their collective hides. As for this year, you keep going back to the safety which is a wrong interpretation of the play. It was not JP's fault. The pass before, yes. A poor throw. But it didn't effect the game. You are isolating on one play and forgetting to point out how much better JP looked than all of his starts last year and this was IN NE (there's a word for this, it's called: Improvement). You just have it stuck in your head that he is the cause of the loss that you are unwilling to look at the player objectively because you desperately want to be right. Even at the expense of your own team. Hello narcissism! The kid has had 9 starts. He has improved tremendously and is the best QB on the roster. Period. Not only is your agenda wrong, it's ridiculous.
  14. Yes...BUT the marginal calls for the Bills happened RIGHT in front of the refs. They had no choice. A block in the back is a block in the back. A hold is a hold. But when it happens two feet from a ref who is staring at you, it doesn't matter the intent. The ref has to call that. The cliche is that holding can be called on every play if the refs want to. And that's true. So holding calls are always wishy-washy...I won't argue with those. There are times when it's called when it shouldn't be and times when it's missed. But that goes both ways. A block in the back, infrotn of a ref though will get called EVERY time. And you can't expect a ref to throw it based on the blockers intent. That is just never going to happen. Royal messed up. He has to know better. It was a stupid play on HIS part. Not the refs. Not the Pats. Same goes for Nate.
  15. You forget who's calling the plays there. Run? What's that? I am hoping to see lots of 7 yard deep pitches on 3rd and 2 and running plays where MM berates the RBs for bouncing things to the outside... The Dolphins are in trouble, and MM is only part of the reason. The biggest reason they're in trouble is they are pinning their hopes to an over hyped QB who's career was made by Randy Moss. Chambers is good, but Moss he ain't. Bills win 27-17
  16. Is that an "ooohhh" for a good trailer? Or is it for the two smoking women in the flick (Eva Green and I can't remember the other one's name, she's in the trailer for two seconds but is stunning)?
  17. I was pleasently surprised today. Like most of you here, I normally take the loses of the Bills far too seriously. Usually, after a loss I am miserable until Thursday. And even though today was painful in the way it ended, I don't feel as bad as normal. Why? Well, to be honest I expected the Bills to go 1-1 to open the season, and wasn't banking on a win in Gillette. I was very afraid of a poor performance to open the season. However, this team did not play poorly. Mistakes were made, yes. But a number of good things happened: - The defense looked FAST. Especially the new saftey tandum of Whitner and Simpson. They made their mistakes, but these two looked much better than I hoped for the first game of the season. - Willis did look good in spots as well. He seemed more nimble and a bit quicker. He made some nice runs against one of the best front 4 in football. Just not enough big runs though in the second half. - Most importantly, JP came out and answered the bell. No TDs, but no INT and he was very accurate today and seemed poised. He made a couple of great plays today as well. I am very encouraged with his progress and feel like the Bills finally have their franchise QB in place. Not that he's a super star, but they have a guy there who has all the tools and CAN play in this league for years to come. All these factors have made me re think my scenario for the first half of the season...what I once thought was a dream could very well be reality: First the Bills have to go into a hostile environment and try to steal one from the Felons. They didn't impress me against Pittsburgh and I am even more confident now in the Bill's ability to steal a W in Miami. If they can head home 1-1, the Ralph will be ROCKING for the Jets who also looked better than expected today. Still, I think the home crowd will give the Bills the edge: 2-1. A two game streak makes the Minny game a bit closer. But home cooking and some breaks, the Bills are suddenly 3-1 heading into Chi-town. As good as they are playing, I don't see them taking one from the Bears: 3-2. Then on the road to Detroit -- perhaps the most winable game on the schedule this season. Bills take it 4-2. This would set up a great game on the 22nd of October. 4-2 and a rematch at the Ralph against the Pats with the bye week coming up. If the Bills do pull this off, I would feel really good about their chances of splitting with NE and heading 5-2 into the bye week. This scenario may have sounded crazy yesterday...but after today's performance, I think it's very realistic; at least moreso than it was on Saturday night.
  18. So very true. Watching with several Pats fans, they couldn't understand why I was getting so upset about Simms. They swore he was being nuetral and unbiased. It's always easier to say that when it's your team's balls getting washed...
  19. Refs can't be expected to interpret a player's "intent". Come on. "Gee, sorry sir, I didn't intend to go off sides. I was thinking about my baby's momma(s) and forgot the snap count. But I fully intended to stay onsides. What'ya say, let it slide this once?" There were bad calls today, but the blocks in the backs were not them. The spots were suspect, true. And the 14-2 discrepency in penalties is indeed alarming. But in the end, it was not the penalties that cost the Bills the game.
  20. I thought Sim's worst ball-washing of the Pats came after the first half when, just prior to the kickoff he says something along the lines of: "Remember, this is just week one and it's not representative of how good either of these teams are".... It was such a cheap shot and so blatant it made me ill. Think he would have said that had the Pats been up 17-7 at half???
