Petition for Stephen Colbert to be cast as CAPTAIN AMERICA! *Edit, link works now. Oops.
-
Almost done ... will be linking in a moment. I expect you to be the first signature!

You're right. And Blue is right. Let's start a petition for Colbert to be cast as Captain America. We'll send it to Comedy Central -- he'll have a field day with that on one of his shows.
-
Of course the other way to go with it would be to make it funny ... In which case, I would vote for Steve Colbert as Captain America. Think of all the cross promotion you'd get?! He could just be himself as the alter ego and he already has the shield as decoration on his wall. It's brilliant! Just imagine a serious, dramatic moment in the avengers where Downy Jr, Ed Norton and ... Steve Colbert have a heart to heart.

This to me is the biggest issue with having a Captain America movie. I don't envy the writer and director at all. It's a major hurdle to overcome. The only way I see it working is if they make it really dark (like Nolan's Batmans) and have Captain America be totally disillusioned by today's America (if he's reanimated from WW2). However, the problem with that is Iron Man (the movie) was pretty light and fun. Even Hulk wasn't all that dark. So it will be a weird juxtaposition within the film universe to have this flick be dark while the others are more poppy -- especially when they put all three together. But I still think it's the only way to make the movie work.

One of our crazy formations finally worked! The Red Dawn D did their job. Good game, Longnecks.

Okay, I normally stay the hell out of PPP and I never think to start a topic. But I saw this today and found it pretty disgusting. So naturally I figured it would stir up some conversation in this crazy world you call PPP ... Obama Pin

I of course meant no disrespect. I'm just a history nerd.

That is really cool!

Shhh!!!! No, I promise that is not the case! I swear!

I've been researching a bunch on Iraq lately, in particular biblical cities (and which present day cities are built on top of them) or other biblical events that have occurred in modern day Iraq. Any bible scholars out there know any cool cities or events? Just want to make sure I got my bases covered since I am not a biblical scholar.

Yeah, we call it the Whack-A-Mole defense.

We got something special in store just for you guys. We built tunnels under the field with hundreds of trap doors. When your offense takes the field, our defenders will be hiding in the tunnels. It will look like no one is there ... but then, when the ball is snapped we all pop out and yell "AHHHHH!" Scary, I know. It worked like a charm in 7 on 7 drills.

Oh no, good call. Dark Knight is going to be Box Office gold. Not just because of Ledger, but because the film itself it supposed to be as good as the first one. Good call. You might be right. Still, it's hard to bet against Will Smith. Plus, the script to Hancock is really, really good. If they pulled it off half as well as they did on paper, it'll be a ton of fun.

Thoughts are with you, buddy. A class guy and wonderful human being. Get well soon! Let us know if we can help.

Marvel is going to have a problem casting this for several reasons: 1. How can you pull off Captain America without it feeling like blatant propaganda -- which is how the comic started in the first place? In order to counter that, they're going to have to go dark and disillusioned. Especially if they do the whole re-animated from WW2 angle. 2. If they really are going to release Captain America in May of 2011, then the first Avengers movie in July of the same year (where Captain America is the leader ...), they're going to need a star who can stand toe-to-toe with Downey Jr (who will have had another Iron Man hit under his belt by then) and Sam Jackson. All this without killing the budget. So it makes sense that they'd go for Leo or Damon. But I doubt either will do it. I actually think a good fit would be Josh Lucas (who can do action and dark) -- but he's not big enough to open a movie.

Yeah, I can't tell about Wanted yet. It looks like it could be either super fun or super cheesy. I haven't heard much buzz yet. But the director has an amazing track record of pulling off incredible special effects and visuals with zero budget. But now he has a huge budget. Sometimes that kills the creative side of guys like that; with others it expands their talent. Time will tell.

There is ZERO percent chance this movie flops. It probably will win July.
-
Word of mouth is going to kill this flick as fast as it did for Lady in the Water. It's getting blasted everywhere.
-
True, but horror movies almost without exception drop like boulders after the opening weekend. In the summer, it's even worse. Add to it luke warm (at best) reviews and you got an almost guaranteed BO stinker in the second week. I like M. Night -- but the script was a short story, not a movie.

RIP Tim Russert

Well said, Lori, as always. RIP to a great journalist and friend to Buffalo. -
Wow ... umm ... good game, I guess? I do feel a bit bad about it. Poor Spartans are going to get whooped all year. I don't think our score will be the most tallied against them this season. The down side is our team is DRAINED. The pines are all at 60, even our kicker is at 60 from having to kick off so much!! The Ravens are a good team. I would suggest though that anyone who's not going to be at 100 for the game (the Pines, Eagle Eye, Mickameyer etc) should set their intesity level to NORMAL. Just to get back to 100 for the Clichy and PPP games coming up. Good work guys. I guess we sent a message.

And ... um ... I take back the sellout thing. We did not sell ONE SINGLE corner seat. Hmmm ... did that happen to anyone on PPP or the Cows?

Good to know, good to know. The question Sloth raised on our team board was while the Training XP difference past 16 is virtually nil, what about the game XP? If that drops by level, how does that factor in? You know? I dunno what's best, though I suspect you're method is right. Over 17 boost whenever you wish it won't make a difference. Under 16 then you should wait. I notice that Arkansas has not boosted (they have a cakewalk couple games to lead off). I think they're going to wait till mid season (or the playoffs) to boost since they feel that's the only reason they lost to the Heat.
