The movie will be massively hyped starting in about a month or two when the November movies roll out. It's a reboot of one of Paramount's biggest franchises, plus the second movie in JJ's huge deal with them -- so the studio is going to make sure it's hyped so it doesn't fall flat at the BO. Just a hunch.

The new movie is really excellent. Great cast, Chris Pine is going to be a big star. Mark it down. It was a very cool process to be a part of, and from what I've seen of the cut so far, it more than lives up to the hype it's going to get.

When CBS cut to the St. Louis fan in the stands (big guy, in the old school jersey) looking miserable in the 4th quarter, I blurted out, "I feel you, man. I know exactly what you're thinking" because that had been us for the past decade. Good NOT to be that fan for once.

The thing with HBO is that everyone wants to work with them because they give total creative license to the writers/producers on their series and allow pretty unlimited budgets. That's rare and very cool ... but it also bites them sometimes when shows like JFC go off the reservation (and True Blood is heading down that path too). But I'll take a couple stinkers here and there when their hands off approach nets such gems as Sopranos, Curb, Deadwood, Entourage, Rome, Generation Kill, Band of Brothers, the Wire etc etc etc.

Since the Super Bowl is in Tampa this year -- it would be sweet symmetry if the opponent was the Giants.

I 100% disagree with this. It's simply not true (about the abandoning season long arcs). Season 1 revolved around E becoming the manager rather than just a glorified gopher. Season 2 revolved around whether or not Vinnie was going to do (and eventually stay) in Aquaman. Season 3 (sucked due to the odd break) but part A focused on Vince's struggles with and eventual firing/rehiring of Ari due to complications w/ Mediallian. Season 4 revolved 100% around Mediallian and the guys taking this huge risk to shoot a movie themselves (and the aftermath. Season 5 so far has been excellent. Every episode has dealt 2 fold with Vinnie trying to repair his image and E trying to fix his -- and both seem to be heading towards a mutual solution with 9 Brave Souls ... There's always been a meta season arc for every season BUT for the first 4 episodes of season 1.

Difference is it wasn't a hit to cause an injury. It wasn't a "cheap shot" or blind side. It was a FU to his own team and to the WR. It was a momentum swing. I don't think the (rational) people on the board would be calling it a cheapshot had a Bills guy been taunting the whole way then got tackled in the endzone. Now, if Dante waited till he started doing his TD dance THEN hit him -- it would be totally different.

I actually think that was a key, if not THE key, turning point in the game.
