  1. I don't think this is entirely fair. First of all, Ralph has fired coaches mid season before. And frankly, Edwards is the best QB on the roster and gives the Bills the best chance to win. That's not praising Edwards, it's more of an indictment of Fitz and GH. Firing Jauron mid season won't solve anything really. This season was lost the moment Dick was retained for '09. Keep him or fire him, the end result (for this year) will be the same. Bobby April is NOT the answer. Long term OR short term.
  2. I of course meant embarrassing outside of the lines. Not the on-field performance. But point taken.
  3. That's not true at all. As bad as Dick is, he excels at mediocrity -- or at least the appearance of possible mediocrity. The Bills will win more games this season. Not too many, but some. They won't finish 1-15. I would bet closer to 5-11.
  4. No ... just more of the same.
  5. I've been saying it since the debacle against the Jets last year ... Dick Jauron is NOT an NFL head coach. He makes horrible game management decisions, he has no killer instinct and it costs the team games. When Ralph brought him back rather than fire him in the off season I knew this team would be doomed in '09. And I'm not tooting my own horn here because I know I wasn't the only one that felt that way. Then TO was brought in and the Bills had a great draft (I do believe they had a great draft this year) and everyone forgot the team's biggest problem (even me ... for a few minutes against New England). Truth is, the front office did it's job by signing TO. They got the fans to forget that we were being royally fu*ked over by NOT getting rid of Jauron and were given a nice shiny new toy to distract us. That distraction only lasted two weeks it seems. I have seen posters on here who I respect support DJ till the bitter end here. Saying it's everyone's fault BUT his. Well that time has come to an end. Yes this team is banged up (injuries are tough to over come for ANY team but impossible for poorly coached ones). Yes this team has talent deficiencies (Ellison is the WORST starting LB in the league bar none, we have two backup tackles as our starters on the O-Line). But the biggest problem is the man patrolling the sidelines. Dick is a great guy. A classy guy who has never done anything to embarrass this organization or it's fans. He's a guy I'd want as a friend or neighbor ... but NOT as my team's football coach. Firing Dick Jauron mid season won't change anything. It really won't. It's something that should have happened in the off season. Bobby April is NOT the answer (long term), if he was, he would have been snapped up as a HC long ago by another club. This team could have fired DJ in the off season, admitted what a failure his tenure had become and begun the rebuilding process with a new coaching staff THIS year and put the team in position to really compete in '10. But now, because of this delay, the Bills will be forced to clean house (either in season or in the off season) and next season will be a "learning/rebuilding/transition" year ... meaning the front office will once again "allow" the team to suck and pass it off as a transitional period ... just like the last DECADE. This will be even worse if once again they go with an unproven head coach. It's a sad, sad time to be a Bills fan right now because the light at the end of the tunnel has been pushed back out of eye sight.
  6. I can't speak for Thurman's Twitter since I boycott that nonsense ... but as for WRs being open it is 100% true. From my seats I counted 3 times where TO was covered 1 on 1 with either a LB or a Nickle DB with NO safety help. Trent never even looked at him. There were several times when Reed and Evans were running free in the secondary and Edwards didn't see them. This was the first game of the season I've seen live, and as you all know you can see way more at the games than you can on TV. I was shocked at how open the Bills' WRs were getting and how little Trent looked to them. Now, full disclosure here, the times that I saw WRs running free I wasn't watching the O-Line so I don't know how much pressure Trent was seeing, but he wasn't hit or knocked down on the throws so ...
  7. If Bobby April was head coaching material, he would have been scooped up long ago by another club.
  8. Also, it should be noted, trying to make a 6am flight after a 4pm game SUCKS. Especially when the line for security at the Rochester airport was longer than I've ever seen it before (over a 2 hour wait).
  9. I just got home from my first trip to the Ralph of the year. Having season tickets but living in LA makes it tough to get to every game. Obviously it's a frustrating loss, so allow me to ramble here and pontificate about the game and the state of the team. 1. Dick Jauron showed once again why he will never be a winning coach in the NFL. He coaches scared. The failure to go for it on 4th and 1 was unbelievable. His response in the press conference (paraphrasing) "I'm fine with that decision ... " is inexcusable. The Bills will never have a winning record as long as Dick is the head coach. 2. AVP had a horrible day today. I know our tackles were miserable -- but Fred Jackson was GASHING the New Orleans defense for 4 plus yards a pop running the ball. The fact that AVP didn't run the ball down their throat in the 2nd half was confusing to say the least. 3. After the first drive of the game, I was convinced the Defense was going to give up 50 points. There were 3 WRs open EVERY play during that drive. The fact that the defense then turned around and played FANTASTICALLY for the rest of the game was impressive. It's even better when you factor in the massive injuries the secondary suffered during the course of the game (Leodis, Donte, Scott). Give credit to Fewell for the adjustments he made during the course of the game. 4. Despite how well the defense played, Ellison was a liability in coverage today. He made some nice plays today for sure, but he also got abused. He is one of the worst starting LBs in the league. I'm sorry, but he's a high effort player but can't cover anyone to save his life (which, with his speed shouldn't be the issue). 5. I find it incredible that the offense can't find a way to get TO and Evans the ball. Every team that TO has gone to has found the way to get him the ball a half a dozen times a game ... but the Bills can't? Why? There were three times today (that I counted) where TO was NOT covered by a deep safety AND matched up with either a nickle back OR a LB (yes, a LB) and Trent never LOOKED at him. 6. Trent NEEDS to make that throw to TO. I've read on here that TO dogged it on that play. That's simply not true. TO had TWO men beat deep and Trent threw a TERRIBLE ball. To quote KTFABD, every QB has a bad day in this league, but the good ones MAKE that throw even when they're having bad days. I'm not anti Trent at all. In fact, I'm a fan. But today he was not only making bad reads he was just anxious. 7. The Bills special teams, once the backbone of this team, are just not that good this year. The TD was great, but they are playing sloppy in nearly every phase. Too many penalties, Roscoe is pressing too hard and they are just not what they used to be. 8. I got to be on the field for warm-ups thanks to my brother hooking me up. It was a lot of fun and kudos to the great Ralph Wilson staff for making it so fun. 9. Not to beat a dead horse ... but Jauron was horrible today. Forget the 4th and 1, his mishandling of the Time Outs and the wasted time used at the end of the first half when the Bills had a chance to take the lead or tie was typical Jauron. I felt like crying. 10. The team has played better than I expected this year, the defense today was great. However, with DJ coaching and the difficult schedule that lies ahead, I don't see any way for this team to win more than 7 games. I think another 7-9 season is almost assured. Which, when you really think about it, is pretty impressive to have 4 straight 7-9 seasons. Yay!
  10. C.Biscuit, I know you're a smart guy, I've read your posts for years and had many conversations on here with you. However I just don't get your staunch support of DJ. The 4th and 1 call was ATROCIOUS. Plain and simple. It was the wrong call. There's not another coach in the league who would NOT go for it there. His response in the press conference is proof that this guy is a loser. He coaches SCARED. He coaches NOT TO LOSE rather than to win. Injuries have NOTHING to do with not going for it on that 4th down. That was his decision. And he failed. But while that was the biggest flub in the game, DJ made several others during the course of the game that showed once again how poor of a game manager he is. The fact that the Bills, armed with 3 Time Outs allowed the Saints to run it down to the 2 minute warning before they punted (first half) was laughable. Then, when it took DJ 20 seconds to call a time out on that final (disasterous) drive of the first half ... ridiculous. Dick is a nice guy. He's a classy guy. But he is a TERRIBLE coach. He simply does not have the balls to win. And that mentality filters down to the team. Examples? Today. The Pats game this year. The Cleveland game. The Dallas game. The Jets game. This team finds ways to LOSE games they should win because they get TIGHT when the game is on the line because their coach is coaching SCARED. That's not to say had the Bills gone for it on 4th and 1 they would have won -- chances are they wouldn't have. But you just HAVE to go for it there. You're down 2 scores with under 8 minutes left in the game and you're facing the BEST offense in the league, knowing your defense has shut them down for 3 and a half quarters and is gassed. I respect you CB, but you need to open your eyes about Jauron. He needed to be fired in the off season. And the fact that he wasn't is laughable. This team will never field a winning record with Dick at the helm. It just won't.
  11. I promise you, there are NO tie ins to LOST other than ABC using Oceanic (and some of the former cast members). Damon and Bad Robot have zero to do with this show.
  12. No, not V -- though I am excited for that to come back! It's actually a new Super Dave Osborne show coming on Spike in November 14th. For those of you too young to remember Super Dave, he's otherwise known as Marty Funkhouser on Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's a short series though, only 4 episodes. But they are hilarious.
  13. Exactly, tackles as a statistic are almost totally worthless as far as stats go because they don't take into account where the tackles were made. Both Poz (yes Poz) and Ellison have a habit of making tackles 5 to 10 yards down field. Gee, that's great, you make 10 tackles a game after the guy has a first down. Awesome. Ellison is not the worst starting LB in the league. But he's close.
  14. Yes, sir. Mainly features but I've also worked a lot the past couple years in TV on a couple different shows. The latest of which comes out in November. (cough: plug cough:) lol.
  15. Well I know for certain Bad Robot has nothing to do with Flash Forward (and were a little peeved by the concept in the first place as it treads on some of their ideas for the final season a bit). ABC though is clearly looking at FlashForward to fill the Lost void once the show ends this year. I would expect that ABC planted the billboard.
  16. Well, I mean, she already went through the trouble of taking her clothes off ... It would be ungentlemanly NOT to go through with it. Have some class!
  17. No, you're right. I'm not disagreeing with you. It doesn't make much sense to me either even though the downside is probably minimal (even if it's a ruse and PF is planning on rushing 6 or 7 every play ... that would be sweet. Disasterous, but sweet).
  18. Hmm ... thanks for the scoop, Tom. This actually makes me feel better. I read the pilot a few months ago when it was the hot script and wasn't that concerned about the show -- then when I started seeing ads it hit a little closer to what my project deals with (though mine is far more of a comedy). What I don't get (and didn't get from reading the pilot) was how the show plans on doing season 2 if they reach the "flashforward" at the end of season 1 ... Lost at least has an end game "will they get off the island" (and they flipped that on its head two seasons ago) ... but to me, the point of the pilot (again, on paper I'm sure it changed a ton) was all about what caused this and what's going to happen between then and now -- not what happens AFTER. So unless there's another massive flashforward I don't get how the show continues.
  19. In today's game there's so much film, so much prep that there are very few surprises. There are certainly exceptions to this but overall, everyone knows what the other team likes to do and wants to do before the game starts. It comes down to execution and personnel.
  20. PF's scheme does not fill me with confidence for this weekend. It's tailor made for Drew to light up the scoreboard. I think the Bills will make it competitive, more so than some of the pundits think, but I just can't see the Defense holding the Saints under 35 points this game. Maybe not even under 40. I'll happily eat my words though ...
  21. I need to watch it because I'm concerned it may ruin a project I'm involved in but am traveling today (from LA to Rochester for the game on Sunday) ... I forgot to TiVo it though. Arggggg. Was it any good? And, Spoiler alert: How did they set it up to continue past the "flash forward" (since they have said they will get to the point in time of the flash forwards by season's end ...
  22. Don't judge me.
  23. That sounds delicious right about now.
  24. That is my point exactly ... If this was Juaron's only close loss you would let it slide. But it's not. Look back at all the tight games in his tenure as Bills coach and how many has he pissed away? How many has he won? Leodis wasn't on ALL those teams. The loss is a symptom, and indictment of the coaching staff.
  25. Sorry if this was discussed earlier, I searched and didn't find anything ... But while driving around listening to the pre-grame show DJ said that the way the plays will be called today is that AVP will be in the booth and make the call to Fitz who then will relay it to Trent. Is it just me or does this seem like they're adding a middle man for no apparent reason. Fitz can wear a headset and hear the calls and stay involved in the game, but why does he need to relay the call? It seems like a recipe for disaster. I'm sure other teams do it that way too ... but isn't it making it unnecessarily complicated? Especially when you just installed a brand new OC and the backup QB is himself NEW to the team and has admitted he had a difficult time digesting the playbook? Where's the logic?
