  1. Again, tackles are the most useless and misleading stat in the NFL. The number of tackles a person has is meaningless. It's TFL and missed tackles that count. Poz is an average LB at best. He can be replaced quite easily. The fact that he's the best LB on this team (which I'm not sure he is) isn't saying much considering the LBs are the worst unit on the team by a mile. This team has the worst LB corps in the NFL. And yes, Poz counts in that assessment.
  2. Tackles is the most worthless stat in the NFL. It does not take into account WHERE those tackles are being made. Poz makes every tackle 6 yards down field. He's a bum.
  3. To be fair, you're reading into things a bit much. The Brady Bunch was a multi camera sitcom, meaning that all 3 (or 4) of the cameras in use were on tripods or rigs. So the fact that the cameras stayed in focus doesn't necessarily mean the crew didn't go running and screaming for their lives. As for Bobby, that show was notorious for doing countless rewrites. And I hear Bobby was a little diva and often times refused to read the scripts and instead just "went method on everyone's asses". So he probably stayed in character all day long while working on that show.
  4. I thought you were making the UFO Brady Bunch episode up!! That is friggin' hilarious. Today I showed it to one of the editors on the show I work for, he says that if it is a fake, it's practical effects (wires, magnets) and not CGI or editing. FWIW
  5. Doesn't it?! It's hilarious ... and also creepy. I can't figure out, if it IS a hoax, how they did it. I don't see any wires or traditional Hollywood tricks that I've become pretty good at figuring out after having worked on sets for so long now. It could be CGI, but if so, it's top end.
  6. Ignore the cheesy, creepy music and the hip-hop banner they plaster all over the video. A friend just sent this to me, and even with my fairly decent VFX bulls*&t detector, this looks pretty friggin' real. The first incident is about 1:30 into the video. Then there's one at the end. Apologies if this has been posted. Bonus points to anyone who can translate what the two interview subjects are saying ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Vgv76Q0Vc4
  7. I admit I kind of hijacked Chef's rant, but how much money it makes isn't the point. Chef was saying that every trailer now is loaded with explosions and huge SFX because the movies themselves have become nothing more than SFX vehicles designed to stimulate ADHD tweens and teens and the "good" films of yesteryear are not being made anymore (paraphrasing of course, Chef). Of course I don't agree with that statement in its entirety, there are plenty of good, even great, films made every year. Some that are even aimed at an adult audience who doesn't want to watch CGI heads exploding or two hours. Blue Valentine is one of those movies. Moving, adult, compelling and contains two of the best performances you'll see this year. Yet the ratings board slapped it with an NC17 because of one particular sex scene which, in my (jaded) opinion is quite mild. Harvey Weinstein pointed out that this is the same governing body that gave Piranha 3D an R rating even though they show a fish eating and coughing UP a dude's penis. The fact is that the only rating that really carries any weight anymore is the NC17 -- because exhibitors won't buy films that carry that rating, meaning those films that get slapped with it unjustly (like Blue Valentine) have no shot of ever reaching a wider audience. And that to me is a crime. The amount of money it makes isn't as important as having the opportunity for as many people to see it as possible.
  8. Except for the fact that the term itself and it's usage IS derogatory towards gay people ... but don't let a little thing like logic get in the way of your own argument.
  9. Well, I was being sarcastic ... but yes.
  10. Because if you don't, you end up with movies like this: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/weinstein/bluevalentine/ Brilliant films that get slapped with an outrageously unfair NC17 rating assuring that no one will go see them.
  11. Yup. Those were certainly the days of racism, segregation and homophobia. Lovely times indeed.
  12. Poz should NOT be locked up for a long time. The guy is not an elite LB. He's average to good at best. He's too slow to cover anyone other than a FB, misses far too many tackles, and gets pushed around too much. The guy was an overachiever at Penn State and it's now clear he's nothing but a mediocre LB at the next level. Let's NOT waste money locking him up to a long term deal please. It's that kind of thinking that gave us years of Chris Kelsay.
  13. Well, now we sit at 0-8. Glasses come off, time to really look at this thing. The points I made at the start of the year (some of which I got killed for) are proving to be pretty accurate. Still, I also missed on some. Let's break down the points. 1. Nix was an uninspired, incestuous hire: The one thing that Nix has proven this year is that he does not know how to build a team in the modern NFL. This roster has less talent than the Comedy Store on a Tuesday night. Being asleep at midnight the day that free agency started? That wasn't Nix being funny. That was him giving all the fans a big middle finger. Everything from the hiring of Gailey, to the handling of the Trent Edwards situation, to the complete lack of even attempting to fix the glaring holes along the offensive and defensive lines speaks to his lack of ability to do the job that is required. This team is not in rebuilding mode, they're in free-fall mode. And a real GM is needed to do the job. Sadly, we're stuck with Nix and Gailey for the foreseeable future. 2. The Spiller Pick: Can we now see that this was a total waste of a pick? Please? The kid is exciting though isn't he? Isn't he fun to watch as he sits on the bench, drinking that water? Or maybe when he takes a knee in the endzone on a kick return. The fact is, the kid has talent, but he wasn't the right pick. But you know what? That's done with now. He's a Bill. We can't look back. But WHY isn't the kid getting more playing time? I love Fred Jackson, but we're 0-8, Spiller NEEDS to be on the field getting 15 carries a game. The fact that he's not speaks again to how piss poor of a job both Gailey and Nix are doing at actually FIXING the problems facing this team. When you're 0-8 you have to start focusing on developing your younger star players who will eventually be your core. Spiller sitting on the bench does nothing but highlight how poorly managed this team is. Factor in the Marshawn debacle (not looking for the best trade, going into camp with 3 RBs when you could have made a better deal on draft day, not even contacting GB to inquire about a deal ...) is just more proof of the utter idiocy in the braintrust running this team. 3. Little talent on the roster: That has been proven to be true over 8 straight loses and is once again a reflection on how poorly misguided Buddy Nix's efforts have been thus far. Sure, it's only year 1 of what should be a 3 year process, but the fact that Cornell Green was THE big Free Agent brought in this year is criminal. There were players to be had, moves to be made ... yet none happened. Oh wait, they brought in Merriman. Problems solved. They also traded Marshawn for a bag of salt and a hooker. Rad. 4. Horrible depth in the trenches, no RT: The one bright spot so far this year offensively has been how well the line has played. Mind you, they haven't been great, but they've been decent to good in more games than not. That includes at RT. But of course that level of play didn't occur until Green was benched (another decision that took far too long to make, like Trent Edwards). This team still has very little depth on the offensive line and outside of the talented Guards, has very few guys capable of dominating the trenches in the running game. Call this one a push. 5. The least experienced WR corps in the league: Steve Johnson has finally showed his worth and is proving to be a nice WR. However, he's really a number 3 WR on any other team. Same with Roscoe. This team has no reliable number 2 WR that forces defenses to adjust. While I feel better about this unit now than I did 8 weeks ago, there's still a large hole on one side of the field. But, in reality, this is not a high-need fix heading into this off season. There are far bigger fish to fry. 6. Trent Edwards: Well, Edwards did manage to stay healthy ... but he showed once again what we all knew. He's a bum. Gun shy and unwilling to make the big pass. He was cut, which was great. However, that decision took far too long to happen. The fact that Gailey waited so long and stuck with Trent through training camp threw this team into a no win situation. Fitz has played well ... (more on him later) but the utter debacle that was the Trent Edwards experiment of 2010 shows once again that Nix and Gailey are in over their heads. This team is rudderless at the top and that's why it's doomed. 7. Defense: The defense hasn't been bad. It's been an abortion. Other than Kyle Williams, this unit has shown that it not only doesn't have the players to play a 3-4, they don't have the coaches. Blending a 4-3 with a 3-4 halfway through the season isn't "good coaching" it's crippling to the development of the young players you are trying to groom for the 3-4 in the future. The decision to resign Kelsay might make sense in the locker room, but on the field he's a liability as an OLB. Poz is overrated, the secondary has yet to have an interception. The defense can't stop the run, Troupe is a joke ... the list goes on. The LBs are still the worst in the NFL collectively. As if this team didn't have enough holes already, they bring in Merriman who, besides being washed up, is also a locker room cancer. Awesome decision making. Things look bleak. But then there's Fitz. The guy has been fun to watch. He plays hard. He plays tough. But I'm losing my mind listening to folks (even commentators) saying that the Bills should build around Fitz. Do they not watch the games? I know that Buffalo has been without a winner for so long they are starving for anything remotely close. But Fitz is NOT the answer. The guy is not accurate enough to be a Franchise QB in this league. And if the Bills do not take a franchise QB in the first round of the draft this year (and based on who's coming out and where the Bills are picking there WILL be one or two available), then this team will doom itself to ten more years of futility. With Nix in charge, it's almost assured that the right choice will not be made.
  14. Fitz is not accurate enough to be a franchise QB. I'm sorry, but thems the facts. Even the balls he completes the WRs are adjusting to the ball meaning they aren't able to put up YAC consistently. One out of every 5 passes he puts on the money. That's not good enough. Fans who want to "build around him" aren't seeing the forest through the trees. This team has been so bad for so long that even mediocrity appears to be the second coming. Fitz isn't a Franchise QB and that is what this team needs above all else. Period. He's a fine backup. He's played better than I thought he was capable of. But he's too inconsistent to be THE building block for this team. If a Franchise QB is there in Round 1 when the Bills are on the clock, and there should be more than one available considering the depth and quality of passers coming out this season from college, the Bills have to take him. Doesn't mean the kid has to start next season, let Fitz do that ... but if they pass on a QB this team is dooming itself to another 10 years of futility.
  15. Just to add to the hype ... It was developed by Gale Anne Hurd (James Cameron's former producing partner for Terminator, Aliens etc) and Frank Darabont. Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) wrote and directed the 90 minute pilot episode.
  16. The secret to my Fantasy teams 6-0 start? Picking up and starting whichever TE plays the Bills. It's worked magic, and has done so again today. God these LBs suck.
  17. Do you work in the Bills' front office? If not, you should apply for the job. You'll be hired instantly. Because it's astute scouting and talent evaluation like this that has kept the Bills from being a relevant NFL franchise for over a decade now.
  18. It was super quick ... Jack takes a sip and instantly it goes back to the normal look and he says, "Ah, that's better".
  19. I thought it was absolutely hilarious. The fact they tied in Jack's drinking to the "look" of the show was awesome. The "live" 30 Rock is what the world REALLY looks like. The 30 Rock we're accustomed to is what the world looks like through Jack's "work-drunk" perspective. Loved it.
  20. You're dreaming. Poz would not start for either team. Hard to be all world when you're not in the starting lineup.
  21. Somehow I don't think any team in the NFL is so concerned about the Bills that they'd be willing to pay 1.6 million dollars for "inside info". This team is going to have a hard time beating anyone this year regardless of what info Trent gives ...
  22. Spiller isn't even the second best RB on the team. He's a niche player. That could change as he progresses but for now, that's all he is.
