for all those questioning college coach success...keep in mind there have only been 26 coaches to win Super Bowls....of those 5 were directly from College...Switzer, John Robinson(i think) and Bill Walsh(3)...Jimmy Johnson could/should have, Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh the books are still out on...

success is very relative...he turned a very poorly run team into one that was competitive for the past 3 plus years...went to two bowl games(you can question how important bowl games are anymore) and won them. took an unheralded QB and made him one of the most prolific in SU history. Sure he didn't get SU to the upper echelon, but considering where they were, i would call his book of work at SU a successful one....

how about jim harbaugh, jimmy johnson, barry switzer??? that argument is very weak and tired

don't be depressed...be cautiously optimistic...marrone is a good football guy and as an SU fan he was a great coach for us....let's hope it just wasn't because of the SU background....Marrone may be the real deal...I am getting more and more comfortable with this decision since i read the news an hour ago....

from what i have seen he seems to be more like a mike tomlin...has the players mindset

more of my early morning dis-jointed thoughts... being an SU fan and speaking on behalf of SU fans...Marrone was a GREAT hire for Syracuse 4 years ago...coming off the Robinson era, here comes a former SU player coming back home to re-build the team. He had the overwhelming support of the entire SU fan base(perhaps a bit of a stretch), but being that he was a home-grown guy he was also given a lot of wiggle room. I would equate this to the Bills if we had hired Frank Reich as our Head Coach(or Marv Levy as GM)...a real feel good situation, for the bills only, and would probably get the same support and lee-way as marrone got in Syracuse. I love Marrone as a coach and what he did for SU and wish he stayed at SU. But being a Bills fan, he will have my utmost support in leading this team. GO BILLS! GO COACH MARRONE! and GO SU!!!

me too and i am a huge fan of all 3...SU, Marrone & the Bills....Just not together....

he had one good season(ok 2) but he needed 6 straight wins to get that second good season...

oh crap...as much as i love marrone and syracuse...i don't see this working at all....i see this as a major step back.....
