Josh Allen - week TEN report card
Bob in STL replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
B- for the Browns game? No way. It is time to stop looking at only at stats and give Josh the eye test. For today: Deep ball - F (not close, not one ball within a foot of a receiver) Medium range passes - F (no completions over 20 yards today) Short passing - C Overall accuracy - D. I don't care if he completes 60% of his passes when the receiver continually has to stop his route and adjust to catch the ball. There were drops but most of the time the receiver is forced to adjust, think about the sideline, or think about not getting killed because Josh's passes are off target. He simply does not hit the receiver in stride enough. So while his accuracy as a function of completion percentage is good, but when you look at the throws he makes, and the ones he misses, you can see an accuracy problem. It is obvious. Decision making - C+ . He did some good things sometimes. Made some key runs, and did not throw any picks. Pocket Presence - D. He is blitzed a lot because he shows he cannot read a blitz and react. Read the blitz and hit the hot receiver quickly, make them pay. There is still too much running around and too little stepping up in the pocket and letting the ball go. He is still not adept at making a defense pay for blitzing by a quick read and react --- instead he can sometimes generate a broken play scramble were he uses his incredible athletic gifts to make a play. There is a controlled way to handle blitzes and at some point he needs to learn this and make the game a bit easier. Ball protection - D. another fumble that could have killed a drive. Running - B Best part of his game. He should run more designed plays and less improvised plays. He plays better overall, when he makes plays with his feet. It gets him flowing better. Two minute drill F - abysmal use of sideline, and time management. Never has two plays ready back to back. Never works from no huddle with at the line play calls (This criticism could be more on DaBoll ). Overall = D Given his performance today, and that of the offense in general, we could have only won today with great defense, good special teams, and some turnovers. We got very good defense, poor kicking, and no turnovers so we fell short. Note: I am a Josh Allen fan, and I am pulling for him. I just am seeing him more clearly after a full season of games over the past two seasons. He still has a lot to learn, and he needs more help from the coaches and better players around him. -
Hauschka is at 61.5% for the season

He was money right up to the time that the Jets player blasted him and injured him. I was mad that they asked him to kick a 53 yarder given how his season and his game is going. I just hope he does not turn fragile. -

Josh was not even close on any of them. Thankful for that because one time he threw into triple coverage. He is still making some bad decisions and although his accuracy seems to be improved (if measured by completion percentage), he throws balls that are often not on target, making he receiver stop or adjust to get the ball. Our team YAC must be low because he does not normally hit receivers in stride. The eye test still show accuracy issues. -
One forced turnover by Bills D in five weeks
Bob in STL replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We had enough time to score and we had one time out. How about the offense learn to run two plays back to back. How about the offense not waste time in the huddle, maybe try a no huddle for a change? How about the offensive players (Brown and Singletary) get out of bounds, which they each failed to do on the last drive. The blitzes we tried did not work on Cleveland's last drive. Watch the replays. -

The defense did their part today. Yes, they could have won the game with a stop on the final drive, sure. Holding a team to 19 on the road is a good day, especially with the inept offense we have that cannot sustain drives or help turn the field. When is this offense going to have a 100 yard rusher or throw for 300 yard? Anything to give the defense some help? -

Blitzes are a feast or famine play. A gamble. Poyer blitzed on the long run by Chubb on their game winning drive and got picked up with ease. We blitzed on the TD pass on their game winning drive. I would have been nice to give Levi Wallace some safety help deep in the end zone on that play. Blitzes are a gamble and today they did not work. -

Great idea …. It would be great to repeat every draft, two years after it happened. -

Easy to blame the kicker, and yes he should make that 34 yarder (or whatever it was), but the offense is just not getting the job done. Expecting to tie the game on the road, on grass with a 53 yard FG is stupid. Play calling or execution? - its both. Playing calling is only part of it. No 100 yard rusher for us again this week, no big play threats at WRs. More dropped balls. More inaccurate passes by Allen. Dumb penalties including two penalties in a row after the safety and free kick. Two more penalties by #85. Terrible game and clock management by Allen/Daboll on the last drive … just plain terrible. Have we no ability to run the no huddle and call plays at the line? Do we practice this? Answer must be no because we never do it. Huddling in the last minute right after a time out? McD needs to get this fixed. Defense - More trouble with the run again but eventually they figured it out. Good game overall but they failed to hold with the game on the line. We have a good defense that needs a #2 CB and some run stuffing help to be a great defense. Meanwhile we need to fit #39 for a flame ######ant uniform. Special Teams - uninspired once again. Cleveland is a talented but terrible team. Their coach is a mess and he has no business in this league. Their sideline is filled with drama and confusion. Their players are undisciplined. It sucks to lose to Cleveland and this could be one of the games we point to at the end of the season if things get worse. -

Grading the next generation of quarterbacks...CBS Article
Bob in STL replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have a nicely developing QB, a good defense, a coach that squeezes performance out of every player, a GM with knowledge and a plan. We are 6-2. Yet, people boo and people complain constantly. We won 6 games last year and now the fans complain about the quality of the wins. ?? I cannot believe the negativity from Bills Mafia. Bring back the 12th man.- 54 replies

The London Chargers? In the AFC East? It could happen
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the NFL wanted to move the Chargers or Jags to St Louis they should first repay the fans all the PSL money they stoled when the Rams moved there, a direct result of the NFL picking Jacksonville to begin with. -
McKenzie needs to be active at least this year

Amazing decline by Foster. He looked promising. Seemed to wilt under the competition this year. -
I get the feeling this game will be a pivotal point for the Bills development if we win. Cleveland is 2-6 but they have so much individual talent that they are expected to win. This is the week I really want to see a complete game by all facets of the team.

Definitely need better guards next year...

The problem I saw with the middle of the line not getting any push is at center. Morse was consistently getting moved back on the runs to Gore. -
I don’t know how whole bunch of you guys know all this stuff from watching on TV in real time with hardly any replays and with cameras that follow the ball and not the interior lineman? You should all be on the sidelines running things. I liked that we adjusted in the second half and shut down the run. We will need to continue that next week in Cleveland. I like that that we found another good player, that new DT from Miami via the PS made some nice plays. I like that we won. I don’t have ave a clue as to how many plays each player had in what technique they played, or if we changed their assignments, or what the linebackers did better, or if anyone is playing hurt.

I agree we have not beaten either of the two “good” teams we played. Does not make us a BAD team at 6-2. I am never going to agree with his ignorant comment. BTW. You make the ignore button a nice thing. -

The message is not correct, the issue I have is categorizing them as a “Bad Team”. That is nonsense spewed from the king of nonsense. -

We are not going to sweep the next four. We are a team on the rise but we are not a top contender yet. We are not a BAD team like Bradshaw the idiot said, but we are a middle tier team that is trending up. The National Media will not get on board until we produce a juggernaut team like the SB teams. It’s just not a story they care to tell so let’s wait and see. Right now now I think we can be a 10 win team and yes, with a fortunate schedule. Them’s the breaks. -

Because he is NOT right. A bad team would not be 6-2, no matter the schedule. It’s just Bradshaw being bombastic. He is a bore and it’s time he retire. -

Breakout game for 26. Number 20 looked old today. Need more plays from the WRs. TE’s not asked to do much again. Josh was pretty good. Middle of OL was surprisingly weak in short yardage.
