  1. I want 11 wins and I want to do it with backups. Would love to pile up points on Gregggggo in the 2nd half.
  2. The officials are really bad today. Other than that it’s raining and we are playing backups.
  3. He was a Joe Ferguson ankle injury (or a fallen free safety) away from a playoff win and a home AFC championship game versus Oakland.
  4. I remember him. His NFL career did not live up to the potential Tampa Bay bestowed upon him on draft day. He had a brief stint in Buffalo and I lost track of him. It’s sad to read these stories. 15 years and no parole.
  5. Knox was an excellent coach but I rate Saban and Levy ahead of him for what they did as "Bills" coaches. Saban was a flake but he won. Levy was a teacher and he was consistent. Knox had a great rebuild in Buffalo, combining vets and young talent to bring us to contention for a short time.
  6. Lombardi was conservative for the times. Compared to George Allen or Tom Landry anyway. Chuck Knox was very conservative - Ground Chuck. Bud Grant (70's Vikings) was conservative Levy was conservative quite often. Same can be said for Bellicheat, he prefers to be conservative but is not. McD is mostly conservative - I think he tries to match the experience of the team to what he asked them to do. Ditka has conservative offenses and crazy aggressive defenses.
  7. Beating a division rival and establishing dominance is nice, especially for the home crowd. But I sure hope #17 is on the bench after a series or two. Remember we are playing a Gregg Williams defense.
  8. Must you be insulting? So you think looking at football film, without the coaches there who have the benefit of actually knowing the play call and assignments, is like reading a history book? Oh, by the way, History books are written by people with a perspective. Just like we both have. Sometimes our perspectives differ. Some history books on the same subject actually disagree with others. I know, truly shocking. Sorry Wayne. I’m not discussing things here for W’s and L’s. I enjoy hearing others perspectives. Don’t care much for the name calling from those that don’t agree. One of the issues with forums though.
  9. No nonsense Mr Buscaglia and thanks for your support.
  10. Read my first post. I don’t think you will find anywhere that I said it was irrelevant or not. Now that you mention it, Joe’s analysis, like mine and yours, is somewhat irrelevant. Unless you think NFL coaches and GMs read them and make decisions based on them. He was raw out of college and he certainly has high potential. I hope he works with Allen this off season and they accelerate their development together.
  11. I mean his “film breakdown” is from the point of a journalist, not a coach. Sorry if that does not pass your criteria of adding to the discussion. To you it’s real football insight to me it’s not.
  12. Did they have bad games? I think Josh missed on several throws that could have changed the outcome. He also made some big plays that put us in the lead and within one score. The entire offenses talked about how the Pats disguise their defense. They do it better than anyone. Mixed bag fir Allen. Allen, Daboll, the entire offense need to be better. Edmunds was targeted by the Pats*. They put on blocker on him every run down, no matter where he lined up, no matter the play, they had someone responsible for blocking him. When Bellichek game plans for you then you must be playing pretty good. Basically saying just block 49 and we will get yards. Did the Bills did adjust? No. Does every loss constitute a regression by young players still developing? Or is it safe to say they are still developing? The later has less less journalistic impact. The NFL is over analyzed and over hyped. You Come on. Pick the two youngest guys on the team, playing the toughest positions, and point out their mistakes as if that is the reason for the loss. Sure, they didn’t make every play they needed to. No one else did either. Bellichek and his staff totally beat McD again. It was a TEAM loss.
  13. Because he is tall. Certain fans here believe that you throw the ball up in the air and he out jumps everybody and catches it every time. They see him as Julio Jones of the CFL. The coaches apparently are not as gifted as these fans, they see a guy that has marginal speed and can’t get open, or something like that.
  14. Yes and if was that easy Joe would be a coach in the NFL and not a reporter.
  15. I can see what McD is doing. Keep the rhythm going and player the starters, make them learn and execute the game plan as usual. Play Allen and Singletary and any nicked up players only 1 or 2 series. It’s what Levy did, and most teams do. Play the rest of the starters only up to halftime and pull them gradually. Second half play the backups. Try to win but more important is keep the players in their rhythm. Of course if anyone gets injured he will be crucified but that true with most aspects is coaching.
  16. Everyone understands the analysis of the playoff rankings. I get that winning will mostly like nit change our slot at 5. I think that this game was about more than that. Therefore, I disagree with the point if the thread. I actually think the point of the thread is wrong. This game was important to win for all the reasons I stated. Oh, wait till next year, right?
  17. Brady played better. I don’t care about his QBR last week or at any time. In this game he didn’t miss open throws. He didn’t take sacks. Our defense was disappointing and Josh missed a few that would have made a difference.
  18. This game was critical to set the tone between the two teams going forward. They knew they dodged a bullet against us in Buffalo. This was the game to make a statement. Instead another loss. Brady is 31-1 against us. They have beats us for 2 straight decades. McD is now 0-6 and in the same as every coach since Levy. Why do think any game against these guys is not important? Beating them is an urgent priority. The fans are correct to react and the players better learn they are several rings on the ladder below the legit contenders. Making a wildcard is nice but this was our first playoff game.
  19. Yes. That was good. But the last four plays in the red zone tell the story. Missed a wide open receiver in the end zone on 2nd. Took a sack on 3rd. Bailed out of the pocket and threw up a prayer on 4th. Didn’t get a lot of help but missed the play that was there. .
  20. I don’t think I have ever been as disappointed after a Pats* loss as today. I thought we could win and change the fortunes of each franchise. I really did. Game time comes and they blocked better and had long grinding drives. They tackled better. They made more plays. Especially on 3rd and 4th down and on their last 8 point drive. Brady was better than Allen. Allen had some impressive moments but he missed open receivers and took sacks. Sure, he was under more pressure but he left points on the field in every quarter.
  21. I can’t blame the game plan when they didn’t execute. Tackling, Blocking, throwing ... all were below par. Not good enough to win in Foxboro. They need to be better than they were today. Allen missed a lot of throws again. He took sacks too.
  22. Exercise the demons and emerge the better team. Let’s beat the Pats* and never look at them the same way again. We have to come out the better team. It our time now.
  23. Crap team for a crap town.
  24. Is there a scenario where we play them in the playoffs?
