  1. If you are good enough then you play. If Duke wasn’t playing - or even dressing for games - then maybe, just maybe, he is not that good. Many rookie WR’s see limited action. This kid could be our #4, with upside, and with red zone possibilities, and maybe even a gunner in punts.
  2. Maybe the Director Equipment Management, a good friend of Kelly Pegula, convinced Kim “no long hyphenated names”. A solid cost cutting measure. Or, it could be because Beane wanted this guy?
  3. If this kid shows anything “The Legend of Duke” will likely be over.
  4. Grading the draft is fun but meaningless. I think we drafted two solid players that will help us right now. That’s at least a B. Long term who knows?
  5. Let’s not. Trading all your picks to move up in round 4 is not smart. There are plenty of good players in rounds 4 and 5. Matt Milano and a Taron Johnson are key players for us - 5th round picks. The draft is like a lottery. The more tickets, the more chances to hit on a player. Late round players have low odds but it’s not at all unheard of to find good players. Brady was a 6th round pick.
  6. Ok. I’m glad you feel that way. I need to see the progress. I think the OL is decent and will get better.
  7. I hope so and it could very well happen.
  8. Ok. Dawkins will earn his extension then. Beane will decide. Spain pass blocks very well. Now move people for the run. He is not strong at this aspect Morse is good. But he cost a lot of $$. Jon is fierce. And adequate most of the time Ford needs to develop and is a key. We traded up , and gave up a pick to get him. If he is not a RT he is an RG. Our line was good. When they play great I’ll say it. But not until they do.
  9. While I agree that the 2019 line was decent, it was not necessarily a powerhouse. But better than previous years. Dawkins may or may not be a franchise LT. This season will tell. Spain is adequate. Not great. Morse is big money but I would rather spend that money elsewhere. Jon F is ok. Better backup than a starter. RT - Ford needs to take over and dominate as a 2nd rounder should; or he moves to gaurd and the pick is questioned since we moved up to get him.
  10. ... but sometimes you do and you don’t give a ***** about a 6/7 rounder.
  11. You can’t see the forest through the trees. That’s to bad.
  12. Ok, he doesn’t make us faster. He should make us stronger. Good pick. A complimentary back to Singletary.
  13. Yes. For Buffalo to win and advance in the playoffs we need home field advantage. We play in cold and snow. A solid DE that gets to the passer PLUS stops the run is invaluable in our house. This kid could be that player that makes a difference in that environment. I am happy with the pick.
  14. Possible that 2 of them will be Bills
  15. He was a Bills UDFA first. They must have liked him last year, he went on IR during camp and then was released, then pick up by the Panthers,. He went from their PS and actually played a few games for the Panthers before getting hurt again. This acquisition is like getting a 6th/ 7th rounder so Beane can possibly toss one of his 6/7 rounders into a minor move up.
  16. It is interesting. I grew up in the 60=70's and RB was one of the most critical positions. Teams had a starting halfback (speed) and a fullback (power). Go back to the 50's and early 60's and teams had two halfbacks and a fullback, one halfback was really a wing back (also called a flanker) that could line up on either side and be used as a receiver - this eventually evolved into a full time "wide receiver". Today the defenses are so much faster (and better) that the game has change to predominantly passing with the 3 receiver and one tailback (no fullback) formation as the norm. There are a lot of very good backs to pick from. I suspect we draft one in the 3rd round but either the 2nd or 4th would not be a surprise. I would like whoever we pick to be more of a power runner than Singletary, and have the ability to pass block, then release and catch short passes that can be turned into big gains. Josh needs this to get out of a play when the downfield reads are not there. Even without a #1 this is a very interesting draft. Our confidence in Beane and his staff makes it so.
  17. I expect the first three picks (round 2 through 4) to be players that they can see starting in the future (one or two year out), but right now they will be role players (such as EDGE Rush rotation, #2 RB, #4 WR, Nickel/Dime coverage, hybrid SS/LB). Rounds 5 through 7 are players that have an upside but more developmental or special teams. Remember the glory years 90's teams. Marv used to say it was a sign of roster weakness to have to start a rookie. Unless the rookie is a special player, or you get in a pinch from the salary cap, he is correct.
  18. Agree. 1970 and the entire decade for that matter. That was a great time for the NFL. Add in the start of Monday Night Football. Before ESPN and 24 hour news and sports, watching the halftime highlights with Howard Cosell was your big chance to see great players and great plays from every game. Prior to the merger the NFL games always seemed a bit stodgy, even if they had more star players. The AFL had an exciting and creative brand of football, more so than the NFL. They mined for players everywhere and they made opportunities for black players that were not there prior. Combining the two leagues made one great league.
  19. Allen is a great athlete and he likes to have fun. No wonder he builds relationships so easily.
  20. True. We have had very few QB controversies in Bills history. Probably because we have had so few good QBs. There was Flutie v. Johnson, by far the biggest. There was a time when some fans screamed for Lamonica every time Kemp slipped up. I even recall people thinking that Gary Mairangi might be better than Joe Ferguson. Of course when he had his chance he proved to be not even close. Over 60 years that is not much … I would not be concerned if they draft another QB (later in the draft) should the board work out that way. That is not a reflection on Allen either, I think this is his team. How many reps did Mahommes get in his rookie year?
  21. Agree … but the downside is fickle fans and media. Everyone loves the young backup prospect. At least until the real bullets fly.
  22. That said, things continue to arise that make one question whether she is qualified to run one professional sports team in any league, let alone 5 teams.
  23. I think she was a waitress when they met, then he hired her, then he married her ... now she runs PSE.
  24. It’s only a terrible situation if the Sabres leave, and the NHL dies not want want the team leaving it best TV market in the USA. The thought of the Pegula’s selling the Sabres to a local consortium is appealing. Sell the Sabres and Amerks to Buffalo and Rochester interests. Terry got off on the wrong foot in the NHL. Talking about Stanley Cups with no experience, throwing money at marginal free agents, and the continuous instability. He turned the Sabres into the California Golden Seals. They have no inside hockey people helping them. Kim Pegula is so far proving to be not qualified to run this empire. Of bigger concern is Beane and McDermott. Terry needs to lock them up for a long time and then take Kim and stay out of their way.
