Flacco has not had a better career when you consider the times and you think on broader terms. Not even close. A healthy Namath meant a great passing game in a time when running was the to go. Namath was the best player coming out of college and he chose the AFL, A few years later he wins a Super Bowl when everyone else thought the Jets did not have a chance. His legend is he predicted the win. He was a big part of the “pop culture” of the times. Yes, Joe Willie belongs in the HOF.

Agree. Stats just don’t tell the story on how he played in his prime. He was the best player coming out of college and he fulfilled his promise with the Super Bowl win. He had tons of serious injuries. Played for good teams and bad. It was a different era and a different game. An era where quarterbacks were given a long time to develop, and yet he was one that made an immediate impact.

Great player but he really hit a wall as the season went on. He averaged 3.6 YPC last season and he was not automatic in short yardage situations. His average YPC was more likely to decrease, not increase, with more carries. So no, that does not earn you 280+ carries. Sorry Frank. Much more likely that Singletary gets 1000 with more carries and still averages 4+ YPC.

Josh Norman Giving High Praise to the Bills
Bob in STL replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chill out and understand that players have an obligation to respond to questions the press. If he boycotted talking to the press you would probably have a problem with that too. We all know his play has dropped off since his All Pro level play. Perhaps he can recapture his game under McDermott? He will only play if he earns his reps, that is the McDermott way. -
Ed Oliver interview - NFL put him in the drug program?
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tre White is already one if the best in the league. Edmunds is developing into a top ILB. If Oliver can take a jump this year we are looking great on defense. Hope to see All Pro levels this year. -
Ed Oliver interview - NFL put him in the drug program?

Sounds like you are in law enforcement so I will defer to you -. Oliver clearly did not get special treatment. I am just happy Oliver was clean on all testing. Good for him. -

For most of us, you blow 0.0 and they should let you go. Especially if he was polite and cooperative. According to reports, the open beer can was apparently used as a spittoon filled with Tobacco chew juice (allegedly left in the car by his friend). It would have been simple to explain that. The video of him walking during the sobriety tests to me showed no red flags, although i m not trained to make that call, I saw nothing obviously wrong with him. Special treatment - Unless you think that special treatment is being held in jail, being subjected to a blood test, and long delays getting results, I see this as the opposite of special treatment. -
Seahawks trade for Jamal Adams
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Jets had to get rid of a malcontent like Adams. They got a lot in return too. Good move for them. Adams should fit in well in Seattle but the price is very steep. -

2004 Bills still the best team of the 2000 era?
Bob in STL replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The 2004 team’s play was below their talent level. Not impressed with this Bills team. -

Should Steve Tasker be in the Hall of Fame?
Bob in STL replied to JetsFan20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mostly known for kick coverage. He returned 44 kickoffs, mostly in his early career, and he returned 32 punts in the last few years of his career. My point is that on special teams he did whatever was needed. -
Should Steve Tasker be in the Hall of Fame?
Bob in STL replied to JetsFan20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think about it more. How many great special teams players could cover punts and kickoffs, return punts and kickoffs, block punts, and recover on sides kicks. He was exceptional and should be recognized for it. He was a great slot receiver as well. He would have helped in SB XXV as a receiver (Beebe was out) but they didn’t know what they had yet. -

Really a painfully dumb statement in bold. -
Should Steve Tasker be in the Hall of Fame?

Yes. He was the best all around special teams player. Coverage, returns, everything. He was a also fine receiver we sat too far in down the depth chart for too long. -
What are the expectations of Mario Addison?
Bob in STL replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with him in the 7-9 range on a DL with a lot of rotation and fresh legs. It would be great to have a bunch of lineman in the same range. -
