Ten starters did not opt out. Eight players opted out and not all are starters, maybe 3 are starters and only Hightower is an impact player. NE players Opted out before season: tackle Marcus Cannon, linebacker Dont’a Hightower, safety Patrick Chung, tight end Matt LaCosse, running back Brandon Bolden, fullback Dan Vitale, receiver Marqise Lee and guard Najee Toran. Before Brady, Belicheck was an under .500 coach. I’m not counting him out even this year, I am saying their talent is average. Let’s see him coach them up without Brady.

He can live off of his blubber for quite awhile. Belly had been the the coach/GM/czar for a long time. He is running his course without Tommy. The talent level on New England is average, and below average in the skill positions. Let’s see what he does with a more favorable draft position because he has an 8-8 team at best.

Players have to practice to play?
Bob in STL replied to BillsfaninSB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. No rule states you have to practice to play. In today’s game you better be at least learning the game plan and looking at film if you are resting an injury and then going thru the walkthroughs. -
the Old History of the Buffalo Bills
Bob in STL replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went to a few games with my Dad and Uncles. Very run down place but good sight lines. Crazy crowd, lots of drinking. They had some really good teams too. I remember one game when Lamonica came in for Kemp and pulled the game out. Man could he throw. I hated when they traded him. Saban left and the team really declined fast. -
Yes, Allen. That I must be very hard for Josh if he can’t see his family until the bye week.

I assumed Josh Allen went back to California, but maybe he didn’t? The logistics of that with Covid make it difficult. Does anyone know if he is at practice?

Holy crap Daboll interview
Bob in STL replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Rams let Dick Vermeil walk after his SB win in favor of OC Mike Martz. Many insiders thought they pushed him out in favor of Martz. Martz lost his SB opportunity to the spying/cheating Pats* but his teams never did have the same balance across defense and special teams that Vermeil’s teams did. -
Why didn't McDermott challenge the Davis TD?
Bob in STL replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Definitely the job of his spotters in the booth. No way Davis could tell, he knew he was extremely close to being OOB. On first down I would spread the defense with 3 wide and then go with Moss quick hitter to the left, not Singletary to the right which was the play call. -
How do the Bills match up with Arizona?
Bob in STL replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we will need more balance in passing and running yards this game but we still need to let Josh air it out. Expect them to try the Titans/Chiefs formula and Josh to patiently throw short to medium range passes. If our defense makes another step forward to contain their QB, and we stay away from penalties/turnovers we can win. -
The plan was for AJ McCarron to be the starter, not Peterman. Peterman was much better in camp and in preseason than McCarron and he won the job. The plan was always for Allen to sit until ready. Getting Fitz was not an option that I remember even being there. If you must find blame, and you obviously do, then blame Beane for not bringing in a better veteran QB. Then you can also criticize Andy Reid for keeping Mahommes on the bench a full year. By your logic the Chiefs would have 2 Super Bowls by now, not one.

Gabriel. Masculine gender.

Historically, games in the western time zone are challenging. Games against a QB like Murray are also challenging. Road games against a team coming off a tough loss are challenging. It will be a tough game. I hope our OL is back together and that Tre can go. Big game to win before the much needed bye week.

Is Tua hype the new Darnold hype?
Bob in STL replied to whatdrought's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Jets under Gase, like it was at Miami, are toxic. I still think Darnold could develop with the right team. Tannehill looks good. Tua looked very good for his 2nd NFL game. I think Miami’s staff has a solid plan. -
I was wondering what that was? I just watched the trailer and it looks funny, from 2007. With the kids gone my wife will just shake her head at this one.

Nice summary. I don’t agree with your perspective all of the time every week, that would be impossible - but you are thorough in your coverage and your threads almost always lead to good discussions that are offshoots of your summary. Thanks for taking the time. I thought about doing this once but it would be redundant at this point. So I’ll just be the Older Guy that chimes in here and there. Keep up the good work.

I don’t like the “coached scared” comments. Sure, McD is learning and improving, this is his first HC gig. I don’t think he is scared. The time was right to be aggressive and he was. If player execution was not as goos as it was I have no doubt some fans would consider this game plan to be reckless. .

Josh Allen - week NINE report card
Bob in STL replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Overblown media attention is not what Allen or the Bills need. In fact, it can’t help. Keep them focused on the team. On each other and on playing their best. The media stuff is fluff compared to what these players have to deal with in real life. -
How about Bass? He's settling in...
Bob in STL replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is developing. He has to learn our Stadium winds, which takes time. Steve Christie was great, he talked about how hard it is to kick in Buffalo -
Postgame Thread Bills vs. Seahawks
Bob in STL replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t believe in “Signature Wins” stuff, maybe a Super Bowl win, then sure. I suppose this one would be, unless the Seahawks get hit with injuries and finish 9-7. Then the revisionist historians will forget all about it.
